@dessertwarrior I was hungry after a few days. I was like wait a minute I thought I wasn't supposed to be hungry anymore. I had a hard time drinking the liquid protien. When I started my powered protien shakes it made a huge difference. I'm on week 2 and having creamed Soups too. Yummy!! Turtle5559 -

How Long Should I Take Off From Work?
turtle5569 replied to melliecat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had surgery on Friday September 2nd went back to work the following Thursday 6 days later. I used up all my PTO on summer vacations so I had no choice:( I work from home and have a desk job so I figured I'd be good. I was ok just had a little discomfort sitting all day. I feel so much better today tomorrow will be 10 days. So I would recommend if you can at least 2 weeks., but it depends on your body some were good 1 week later. This is for comfort reasons, as far as diet reasons that again depends on you. Some people have a hard time adjusting to the new lifestyle. Turtle5559 -

@@Gerri918 correct I had the sleeve, but yes same concept o shrink the liver. I was talking about my GRUBBING experience prior to that diet. Turtle5559 -
I'm not sure about Dr. Alvarez , but I was just sleeved on Sept 2nd in Tiajuna I saw Dr alejandro lopez , everything was smooth sailing from the initial call with a consultant to booking the surgery the day I WANTED!! I paid $4700 which included a Marriott stay for my family of 3 for 3 nights. I only stayed there them the Thursday night before my surgery. The hotel was even very nice and I was treated very well. I was given complimentary broth and popsicles:) At the end i ended up having to pay an $350 because I had a hiatal hernia repair that the dr found when he went in, i was aware that may happen so i was prepared, but other than that the facility was nice the people were great and no issues with the nurses not speaking English. Not sure how much Dr. Alvarez is, I even found that was cheaper doctors out there, but I had a friend who went there a few years prior and absolutely loved Dr. Lopez. I made a good choice.....Good Luck!! Turtle5559

I keep thinking , did the doctor cut enough of my stomach? LOL May day consist of 1/4 cup of broth in the morning, a mid morning snack is a sugar free Jello or maybe a 1/2 of a sugar free popsicle. lunch I start the nasty liquid protien. It's so hard to drink them, they taste gross. I pretty much take the rest of the day to sip on 40 grams of the protien. It's the Isopure 20 oz bottle. dinner is another 1/4 cup of broth & my evening snack is the other half of my popsicle. I also sip on Water all day. I've been mixing it up Gatorade, flavored Propel water. I'm probably at 55 oz a day. I just just feel like I'm ready for soft foods. Or maybe the Isopure powder protien with water? I would LOVE an actual premier protien little cartons one. (strawberry N Cream) Mmmmm I get I'm only on day 5 and my plan says Clear liquids for the first 7 days, but I seriously feel hungry like 30 minutes after I drink the broth or eat the jello. I'm 5'2 and my is BMI 34 10 day pre op diet weight 197 Surgery weight 189 CW 187 frustrated and hungry!! Can someone please tell me what they did in the 1st 7 days? When did you start losing get the lbs? Turtle5559

Even pureed is fine with me!!@@gidgetgrl hope all your wishes come true for you birthday!! You know last night at Walmart I saw this can of Soup it was cream of Shrimp. I said I like Shrimp?? I didn't buy it, but it kinda sounds good. Haha Turtle5559 -

Greay idea!! I would love to be apart of this thread. I was sleeved on Sept. 2nd I didn't have the gas pains, but for the 1st 3 days I had left shoulder and neck pain. My chest and throat had the flem feeling. It was so hard to cough!! Not sure if that was from the trach tube or I had an upper hiatal hernia repair. I was on clear liquids for the 1st 6 days and HATED the liquid protien drinks. I was lucky if I got 30g a day. Yesterday I said screw it, I want a real protien shake & had no problem drinking 12oz of my powdered chocolate Isopure with Water 50g of protien. It was delicios!! It took about 3 hours to drink it. I'm feeling great I'm down 6 lbs from surgery date. Good luck Ya'all!! 5'2 SW 189.9 CW 183.3 Turtle5559 -

I too had a low BMI 34. I was a cash pay patient and tbought the same thing. Will I ever be able to eat all my favorite foods?? So 1 month prior to my pre op diet my honey and I ate/drank EVERYTHING we wanted. I made so many crunchy tacos..lol shredded beef, chicken, ground beef you name it. I LOVE TACOS!!! We ate out more often than ever enjoyed a few Happy Hours. Then ughhhhh I felt so sick of food I gained about 12 lbs felt like crap and was ready for my pre-op diet. I'm 8 days post op and doing great. I won't lie the food commercials still look good..Haha I just have a shake and bam I'm stuffed. Good luck on your journey so far I'm loving it. Turtle5559 -

I get creative with my broth now. I get the boxed broth of the organic chicken or beef broth. I boil it on low with veggies like carrot, cabbage, celery, green onion and a slice of jalepeno a chunk of garlic with a dash of pepper and celery salt. Strain it and sip!!! It's really yummy. Good luck!! Turtle5559 -

turtle5569 posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
For all of you that are nervous don't be. I arrived Thursday evening at the Tijuana Marriott. I was greeted with welcome arms!! The staff was very sweet and spoke English. (little accent) the following morning my family i were picked up by the Vida driver, I had my Mom, Son, and boyfriend with me. Anibel was cool. Vida the facility was maybe 5 minutes away. I did some paperwork, had a consultation with a internal medicine doctor. They took my blood did an EKG. Everything looked good. I then paid Sandra my coordinator said my good byes to my family and was sent to the back for set up. I maybe waited for an hour tops. Anesthesia doctor came in, asked me some questions and BAM!!! I was out!!! Before you know it she came to my bed and siad okay you did wonderful you surgery is all done. I was like what!!! This morning I'm feeling great little tenderness. No Biggy. They have me drinking this NASTY Blue drink to check for leakage. I would say my only complaint so far is my rommate who is doing nothing but complaining. GRRRRRR She's one of those who needs attention 24/7. Good luck to all you having there surgery soon!! Successful surgery yesterday in Mexicco!
turtle5569 replied to turtle5569's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@flowersgastric I actually bought all my vitamins from costco. Adult Multivitamins Gummies, Calcium Bone support Gummies, B12 tablets, Biotin, Iron I did want to look into the B12 injections from Mexico. My sister in law just bought 6 boxes 3 in each box for $26. My consultant is from Florida she mentioned these B12 topical Patches from Groupon. I was going to ask her about those when I talk to her. I'm just about 2 1/2 hours from Tiajuna and we're planning to drive out this weekend. My boyfriend left his bag in the hotel like a dork and it would cost way more to have them ship it back to him. So I thought I'd take advantage of the pharmacies out there. Also want to ask about a good scar removal cream?? I might get some good deals. We'll see:) Turtle5559
