May Bandsters-How's your post op diets going? What's your schedule?
MissieLyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down 21 pounds now and am on the full liquids and start purees on Wednesday. Yeah! I have 2 weeks of puree before I can do mushies. So far so good. The port incision still hurts. Can't wait for that to go away. I get tired pretty easy. I have a 2 year old so that doesn't help my energy level! We have a picnic this saturday so hope a lot of people make jello! -
I took 2 weeks off and go in for my post op on Wed. I'm going to ask for another week. I'm doing pretty good, but my energy level is down and I'm sleeping a lot. Since I have the time, I'm going to use it to have the best recovery possible. My port incision still hurts me too.

MissieLyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are you feeling? I can't believe how full I get just by sipping liquids now. What is your post op eating schedule? I'm 1 week clear, 1 week full liquid, then 2 weeks puree. -
Anyone have surgery with Dr. Jeff Baker at Unity?
MissieLyn posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm having sugery with him on Wednesday. I was just curious if anyone had experience with him and the program and was wondering how it went for you. -
Same here..I was banded on 5/7. I can hardly eat any protein shakes and get full right away. I've lost 10 pounds since the surgery. I still feel sore and have gas pains...Yuck

Pregnant Finally But Now What
MissieLyn replied to dreemer69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery on May 7th and asked my doc the same things as I have PCOS too. He said I could get pregnant any time after the band and don't have to wait. He said when I get pregnant come in and have the fills removed so I won't have restrictions. That way the baby can get the nurishment it needs. He also said after the baby you want to wait until your done breast feeding and then I can do it anytime I feel ready after that. -
4 days post op-always feeling full..is this normal?
MissieLyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been doing a little protein shakes and sipping on water. I do 6 oz of protein shake and feel pretty full. I'm afraid to drink to much water because I feel full. Is this just because everything is so swollen? Will this go away so I can do more fluids? -
My doctor has me out 2 weeks after the surgery and said I could take a 3rd week off if needed. Take the time and heal.

I would recommend milk of magnesia if you haven't had a bm. It made me feel tons better. I'm less bloated and less gassy this morning. It helped get a lot of gas out. I only took 2 table spoons. It tastes like crap. So far today I'm feeling better. This is the first time I didn't get up at 3 am to take some pain meds. My port is the sorest. Its been a little hard on my 2 year old as she doesn't quite get she can't jump on me. I make an 8oz protein shake and only drink about 6 oz and feel full. I'm guessing its because my stomach is really swollen. -

Yes, I'm still having gas pains. I haven't had a bm since Monday so I took some milk of magesia and that REALLY helped! I feel so much better! I drank 6 oz of protein and have been feeling really full. Its kinda nice I haven't felt like eating anything else. The only pain I have is from gas and from the port. When I woke up my first thoughts were "what the hell did I do to myself!" I was in so much pain! I got out of the hospital on Thursday..since the nurses knew I was getting out they didn't come and see me after they left me the food tray. I buzzed them 2 times and they would just turn out the light and not come. Finally my husband went to find a nurse and asked if she could help me. She said "We're short staffed..if you want to get me some help, I can help her" We thought that was very unprofessional. I finally went up and started screaming at the desk for someone to help me. LOL I was in major pain! My surgeon was NOT happy. -
I had my surgery on Wednesday too. I'm doing pretty good..Just have small gas pain and sore where my port is. I REALLY can't wait for this port pain to go away!!

My doc wanted me to pick up all the food before my surgery that I would need for 2 weeks. I have a lot of clear liquid stuff. I'm having problems with "full liquids". I don't like cream soups. Split pea is about the only soup I eat. Any ideas?

Does everyone get a shot in the stomach?
MissieLyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been reading comments and saw that a few people mentioned getting a shot in the stomach. What is this for? Seeing that has made me VERY nervous for my surgery on Wednesday. I rather them have me knocked out and then give me the shot! -

MissieLyn replied to MissieLyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm feeling better now about the whole thing. I've dropped below 40 bmi now so that's good. I didn't remember having this when I had a c-section so was a bit freaked when I heard about it. Sounds like the words "shot in your stomach" is worse than it is. "phew" I have to say I'm a chicken when it comes to shots. I HATE having IV's put in. -
What was your Post-Op diet schedule?
MissieLyn posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor says I'm going to be on 1 week liquid, 1 week full liquid, then 2 weeks pureee. I was just curious on what everyone else had for a schedule. The gal I talked to kept confusing me with the bypass patients and their diet so I'm going to confirm with them tomorrow.
