    Calcium citrate with Vit D

Walgreen's also has chewable that look and tasted like carmels..
  2. I'm sure you can return them to the store and use credit to get non carbonated beverages. I would not take the chance to drink them flat...

    So disappointed in myself.

@BrookTiffani..The first 3 days of the liquid diet were the hardest for me. Detoxing from calories, sugar and carbs make you stressed and tired and hungry! I fell off a few days in and I think I ate some chips! But next day I got back on track. Not sure what your liquid diet plan says but mine I was allowed one protein bar daily. I portioned it so I had some crunch with my liquids! Sugar free Popsicles are great, broths and sugar free jello and Proti shakes were delish! It's worth the work.. I lost 11lbs and it prepared me for post op! I'm 7weeks on Thursday.. 25lbs lighter! Keep the faith!! You can do this!
  4. @@carlacv There are quite a few no calorie beverages to try. I've liked the BAI brand flavored waters, their coconut waters are good too! The nestle splash is another good one and I love Arizona green tea.. zero calorie zero caffeine! I'd avoid anything that is carbonated!

    Today's the day!

    Good luck KristenLe!!
  6. I couldn't drink the required amount either.. So I had broths and SF Popsicles ..just do what you can to stay hydrated.

    Pretty diet

I did the two weeks and lost 11lbs. Not only does it help shrink the liver, it helps to detox your body from sugar and carbs. You're going to crave those foods either way..so better to get a headstart before hand. I'm 6 weeks out and down 25lbs total. The pre op diet definitely prepared me for post op.

Hunger 4 days post op. Normal?

@TheNewKel I will tell you my experience is that some of us post surgery still have hunger. I was on the liquid diet for almost 2 weeks pre surgery and 2 weeks post surgery. In any case it's a long time with no solid food. One of the pluses of sleeve is it's supposed to take away the hormone that is produced in that part of your stomach called grehlin. But in some cases like mine, it did not. The good thing is even when you get to solid food, you can't eat that much and get full fast. I'm 5weeks out on solid food now, but still get hungry. I'm just trying to make good food choices and downloaded a tracking app. I asked my bariatric Dr and he said not everyone loses their hunger. So my best bet is having my new love affair be with the scale and my mirror, and not food!!

    2 Months Post Op

    You look amazing!
  10. @@ginabee38 It's ironic that you posted this because today I am 5weeks post gastric sleeve surgery and on my first week of solid food. I'm not great at tracking, calorie counting, journaling etc. But I want to be successful, so tonite I downloaded an app called My Net Diary. All I did was type in my stats and goal weight. Then typed in what I ate.. Every food and brand name possibl e is in there, just click! So easy and it breaks down calories, fat, carb and protein for the day. I figured what the heck, I'm on the phone anyway! I also got these portioned little plastic containers Can find at Walgreen's, Marshalls or As seen on TV. They are 1cup, half cup etc. Takes the guess work out of it! If I don't have a plan, one that I will follow, I will fail. It's easy to fall back on bad habits.. Even with a tool. My mirror is my motivation!! I'm not giving myself a time limit, just a weight loss goal. Good luck on your journey.. This app has been a great resource as well!

    3 weeks out

4 weeks and stalled here too.. I think its a normal process, your body is trying to adjust post surgery and I know personally I started at a lower BMI, at 60yrs. Old I'm not going to have a fast metabolism either! My Dr said Monday at my second post op appt that the weight loss can continue between 12-18 months post surgery..So I'm just doing what I am supposed to be doing, next I will add exercise which I'm sure will help!

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

Thanks @ Browneyedgirl41, oddly enough, I find cooking and baking relaxing! I don't feel hungry because I am smelling (not tasting anymore) the food. Stepping up with some type of exercise may help me change my food focus, tire me out and help with weight loss. My kids are grown, hubby is retired and is kind of a grazer, so I end up cooking for others, dad, grandkids etc. You are right, I grew up Italian, food is a huge part of our families traditions, show of affection..I never had any weight issues all my life till peri menopause after 43.. Yesterday I turned 60..60lbs.and sleep apnea are in my way of perfect health so I am on a mission to rid myself of both!! We can do this! Keep up the good work!!
  13. Thanks for this recipe @@cbonet! As fall is here in the Northeast, I needed something to use the last of my garden kale and at the soft food stage get in more Protein.. I'm going to try your recipe!

    DEEP, DEEP HUNGER

I'm 3.5 weeks out and I'm glad you posted this! I'm not taking in the total fluids, but I am pretty sure now that i've just started soft food, fluid intake changes. I've also experiencd constipation, but that was normal for me pre surgery. When I do eat, especially now with more solid food, it is fulfilling the hunger for a while, but I do still get hungry!! I also suffer from severe sleep apnea and take ambien at night to sleep. I wasn't able to tolerate cpap due to asthma, which is why I had sleeve done. So I was blaming hunger on lack of sleep and ambien, which hunger is side effect. Not sure if any of you have been experiencing an emotional rollercoaster as well! I've had a smooth sail with this surgery so far other than these issues.. But it is discouraging because I thought hunger would be gone.. Hopefully, once I lose more, apnea will reverse and it will have less affect!

    Pre-op diet cranky pants.

I can totally relate! I'm a laid back person as a rule, but I didn't realize how much of everyday life revolves around food! I am 3 weeks post op, and I agree that the liquid diet can be trying. Tomorrow is my 60th birthday ..my heritage is Italian.. Guess how we celebrate? FOOD!! So I told my family don't bother because I am not at the point to have solids.. Least of all cake! I have been fortunate so far, no pain, did well with anything I ate or drank.. Solids will be the true test next week! I'm down 22 lbs so far, and in the end it will be worth the ups and downs! I have them too, and walking and staying busy helps!

Layered Mexican in a Mason Jar (Purée)

You will because you are prepared! It's definitely challenging to change the way we approach food, so having the knowledge and the right tools..that includes kitchen tools as well, will put you and keep you on the path to success in this weight loss journey. Next Sat is my 60th birthday, having an Italian heritage means we celebrate with lots of food!! No dinner/cake for me this year, but the mirror is starting to reflect my 20 lb weight loss since the start of my pre- op diet on 8/22. Not bad for an old broad.. You will do great @@KristenLe!!
  17. My pureed food stage started yesterday, vsg was on 9/1/16. Today I gathered up some of my kitchen tools I had previously, and some I purchased pre surgery. Having small containers that are pre-marked with portioning for measured amounts I can have now, and in the future takes the guess work out of it! The digital scale was purchased from Avon, as were the colored square portion containers. The small food processor was about $10. and I don't have to drag out my big one! Same thing with the mini blender also inexpensive. My NUT gave me the portion plate and had the mini diet scale. The Perfect Portion cups were from Marshalls @ 6.99. All are microwave and freezer safe. Now just looking for some good recipes and meal plans to stay on track!!

@@KristenLe is druelling- lol. She's headed for preop soon! Hold on to this idea Kristen!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Pre op? @@KristenLe Wow.. I thought you were a veteran ..at least you've done your homework!
  19. My sleep study was done in a hospital. The room was like a hotel room. I was allowed to take ambien and go to sleep pretty much my regular routine. You're hooked up to some wires from head to toe, I had a very nice sleep study attendant, who explained everything beforehand. It didn't hurt that he was handsome as well as knowledgeable! Lol. Found out I had severe obstructive sleep apnea from that study. My oxygen levels were dropping dangerously low at night and had awakenings 188 times in six hours. I wasn't able to tolerate the cpap due to asthma. This is the reason I had the sleeve done two weeks ago. I already feel better twenty lbs down! Sleep study was a lifesaver and very easy..don't sweat it!!

    Pre-Op Weight Loss

So glad you all brought this subject up!!???? I'm 2weeks post op with sleeve getting ready to go to pureed stage foods on Saturday. Normally I'm constipated, but the last two weeks have been a challenge! I'm also drinking Premier protein..magnesium citrate helps somewhat, hopefully pureed veggies will help! It's been the only complaint.. Other than that I feel great!

    Second thoughts?

To be nervous is normal.. I had sleeve surgery on 9/1/16. After 8 months of going thru the process I questioned it all in the last week. It wasn't easy going thru the pre op diet for two weeks, but I got through it. I've added yogurt to my diet this last week and Sat I can have some pureed food. I've tolerated everything well, and basically was able to avoid pain meds day after surgery. As long as you are prepared you will do great! Good luck!
  22. gidgetgrl

Right then... 24 hours to go.

Good luck to both of you! I had sleeve surgery on 9/1/16 and I feel great! Just bored with Stage 2 waiting for Stage 3 pureed foods on Sat.
  23. You sound like me turtle5569! Did the same thing, binged on junk, ate all my faves, a few trips to Carvel ..my BMI was 37..and I'm 9 days out of sleeve surgery and feel great. I'm noticing that every other commercial is about food! My birthday is 9/24, and as long as I can have some lobster.. Even pureed is fine with me!!
