Update and Picturessss! :D
Ladystorm replied to VanessaVSGforme's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@Ladystorm Are you getting enough fluids and Protein?? Are you on any meds that might need adjusting (diabetes, hypertension)? Are you taking Vitamins? Call your surgeon - it's normal to be tired after major surgery but it seems you aren't just tired if you can't get out of bed. It's the sciatica.... ???? Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App My sciatica was at its worse BEFORE my surgery. It was either back/piriformis surgery or weight loss surgery with hopes that losing weight...helped! I decided weight loss surgery would in turn help me with so many other things. HBP. SUGAR LEVELS. ANXIETY. So I went with weight loss surgery. My surgery was 9/2/15 and believe me, sciatica wasn't gone over night. I just kept after all the protein (which I still do now) and little by little I tried my best to get up out of bed. I rode a stationary bike for 2 minutes which took everything I had...the next day 4 minutes...the next day 6 minutes and some days went back down to 2 minutes but the point was I WAS TRYING MY BEST. One October day...I woke up and wanted to go shopping for fall decorations and when we got to Target...my husband went to get my the electric buggy to ride around in because I couldn't walk...and this particular day I said "no babe, I don't think I need that today" I WALKED AND WALKED AND WALKED. My husband had tears in his eyes. I had tears in mine. The pain was gone. I don't know what it was...or why it left...but I thank God every day because I thought I was dying!!!! Maybe I stretched it out. Maybe I lost just enough to ease some pressure. I don't know. All I can tell you is TRY YOUR BEST to move and pray. I will be thinking about you and I truly hope you get better. I know your pain too well. :-( Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Thank you so much!! As I type I'm laying here bed bound because of sciatica and I think weakness... I was sleeved Aug 1st and I am getting super depressed over this. I'm missing work and my strength so much. How much longer will I be stuck in bed? I was OK a week ago but now I'm not doing good. Standing up seems impossible right now Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App -

Other than drinks/soup, what do you mix your Genepro into?
Ladystorm replied to trekker954's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
People mix it in sauces and salad dressing. Hot cereals, shakes, puddings. I love GENEPRO Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App -
Regret! Anyone? Missing real food!
Ladystorm replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll be eating again... Don't worry too much. Try to be creative within your new eating. It will carry you. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App -
When I said "water" - I mean non-caloric drinks (which the base is usually water). A high protein diet can cause constipation and requires even more non-caloric liquids than usual. The OP is pre-op - so there's definitely a possibility of eating too much protein being a cause for not losing weight (because it can also mean you are also eating too many calories). I agree. So many people think that you have to drink plain water in order to lose weight, which is false. The reason is because, like you said, the base is usually water. That topic always irks me because, one day, a 400+ pound old co-worker of mine kept asking me if I was drinking water. I said, "Yeah, look...", and held up my water bottle. She said, "What's in it?" I told her it was Crystal Light. And she had the nerve to say, "It's not the same." I'm like, are you kidding me? You're 400+ pounds and you drink 1 liter of Coke a day... Lmaooooooo ???? Feeling a weird stretchy pain on my left side.
Ladystorm replied to Hiraeth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Totally know the feeling... I heard it might be the skin attached to the muscle while healing... And to help with that you can rub it for 30mins a day so it can separate. I started doing that week 2 into week 3 and it's gone now.. I rubbed it with cocoa butter and Shea butter. Totally think it made a difference. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App -
Umm, how do you tell your daughter she might need this?
Ladystorm replied to OKCPirate's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wish my parents were more supportive... When I was 19 my doctor suggested it and my mom totally disagreed with him. I was 290lbs then.... Fast forward and I blew up to 420 my highest... Went thru years of depression and anxiety and just hiding I'm my room... Always hungey. I think it made my mom feel better knowing I was heavier than her... Her little confidence booster. I did lose some weight... 70lbs on my own... But never got under 330lbs with diet and exercise. At age 32 I started my journey at 370lbs and I'm down to 320lbs so far. She looks at me with a look in her eyes that screams "who the hell do you think you are" while saying things like, *your not skinny YET? " My point is, people are people before they are anything to you... And if your intentions are for her betterment then I believe it would be received that way. You don't have to suggest it... Just take her under you wing as you lose weight yourself. Inspire her to be better and she will. I wish my parents were more supportive. Sent from my SM-G920T using the BariatricPal App
