@@mrsgori101214 I'm in a similar situation to yours. My surgery is on 1/4/17 & I'm hoping that I'll be able to get pregnant post op within the time frame the surgeon suggested which is 18 months. I'm seeing my gyn this week to make sure I'm on a bc that doesn't lead to an early pregnancy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Yay!! Congratulations to all of you who are pregnant! I actually am hoping to get this surgery to improve my fertility chances. The doctor said to wait 18 months after surgery to start trying to maximize weight loss, but I'm glad that those who got pregnant earlier didn't have any complications. Keep us posted! I want to get the Sleeve but surgeon is pushing Roux En Y
gottadosumthin replied to hectorlopez323's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Smdnght28 I'm going to talk to my doc about recovery time for RNY and his experience with GERD for the VSG patients. I only have a small window (a couple of weeks) for recovery, and I hear that it's quicker with sleeve, but it's good for me to ask him. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I thought you wouldn't have dumping with the sleeve, but after reading the forums for the last couple of months, it seems that you can have dumping with sleeve too, it just depends. Seems ppl with the sleeve do a lot more throwing up than the other thing, and I've seen them calling the vomiting dumping. I'd rather *!*! then vomit. At first I thought it was cool that my surgeon was pushing the sleeve, but now I'm not sure. I know he only did like 3 bypasses in the past year to like 200 sleeves, so that doesn't give a vote of confidence on him doing the bypass if I chose that. gottadosumthin replied to hectorlopez323's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm back and forth between rny and the sleeve. RnY is the gold standard and has the most research, but the sleeve is less invasive. I have mild acid reflux (the first consult I went recommended the RnY because of that.) The second surgeon which I chose pushes sleeve and you have to convince him to do RNY bc the results are the same two years out. I'm still deciding, but right now leaning towards the sleeve. Ask me next week, and that may change lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My friend is the same age as you, and she had diabetes to the point where she was taking insulin 3x a day. She had the RnY bc it is known to eliminate diabetes whereas with the sleeve, you still may or may not have to take the medication. She's doing great and had lost over 100 pounds. It's just something to consider when you have diabetes. Good luck with your decision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Birthday cake, I'll pass......
gottadosumthin replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I end up dumping after I get the sleeve, it will probably end up being a good thing for me as well. I would avoid sugar to keep me honest too. Funny thing is I was talking to my friend today who had RNY, and she can have sugar in limited quantities without the dumping. So I guess really whether the one gets the sleeve or bypass, it's solely up to how your body will respond to the surgery. Kudos to everyone who is sticking to their diet! I really hope that I can get my head together to resist the foods that made me this way in the first place. The struggle is real! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Nooooo, I love birthday cake! You all are very strong, because I would fall with temptation. I just spoke with someone who got the sleeve a year ago because he could still eat sugar with vs the RNY. It does suck to hear that you can still get dumping with sugar on the sleeve. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

@@CariC Thanks for letting me know this especially since we have the same insurance! I remember him saying that during orientation, but when I called AmeriHealth, they sent me a long list of providers, and I thought they'd cover it. I'm definitely not wanting to shell out that hefty fee, but thanks to you I'll be prepared. . I remember them mentioning the nutrition class once you get your date is pay out of pocket too. When do you plan on going to the support group? I'm going to go next week to the one at Pennsylvania Hospital to get it out of the way. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Don't base your decisions off of other people. My family has told me that I'm taking the easy way out, that I'll gain it back, I've lost weight before and can do it again, etc. Now that they know I'm set on it, they're starting to be supportive. Only you know what's best for you. Although I'm new to this whole thing, I would suggest you find a good support group afterwards for encouragement along the way. Good luck tomorrow! Hey everyone! I'm new here, and this is my first post. I'm just starting the process and hoping to get sleeved in December. I joined weight watchers as a part of my weight management. I met the leader today and told her why I was there. I was worried what she might say because I've read how some have experienced negative comments about WLS at WW meetings. It was just the opposite! She was supportive and told me that WLS can be a good tool, and she has several people that come who have had surgery as well. She said I can keep that confidential if I like, and with WLS and WW together, people have had great results. I was just so happy for the positive experience with her. Does anyone else do WW after having surgery? How are you doing with it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
