Sleeve scheduled for 10/19- would you do it again?
Rokumok4 replied to jaylee9146's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Absolutely. I had my surgery in August of this year. I waited for 2 years because of my fear of surgery. My biggest regret: not doing this years ago. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Source of Life liquid has been my best liquid Vitamin. If I miss a dose, I notice a huge difference. I get it on Amazon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I don't have cravings but I do have real hunger. I think I lost the cravings during my liquid stage. I was into sweets and breads. Now, any food will do, as long as I get to eat every 2-3 hrs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What's the skinny on coffee?
Rokumok4 replied to The New Kel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I switched back from decaf to regular coffee at 4 weeks post op. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
What Do You Find Most Freeing About WLS?
Rokumok4 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Most freeing is not to be the biggest mom in the classroom any longer. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
I hate these vitamins
Rokumok4 replied to sarajeano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those look amazing. How do you supplement the missing B12 and Iron? Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
I hate these vitamins
Rokumok4 replied to sarajeano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I looked at those yesterday but it did not have enough Calcium, Iron or B12. Are you taking any other supplements? Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
I get it every year. I have 3 young kids, and I don't want to bring them anything home that will make them sick. P.S. I work in the hospital. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

Disappointed in myself
Rokumok4 replied to Joyecamp1992's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had to be on liquids for 1 week and everything was ok. My BMI was 50 preop. You will be fine if you stay on liquids from now on. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -

I take source of life liquid. I like it because it's a cap full once a day. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

When did you feel "normal" again?
Rokumok4 replied to LoveAlwaysKia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My coworker said she felt normal at 6 months. I'm only 2 weeks post op and can't wait for that. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
How long before you could go back to work? (desk job/non physical)
Rokumok4 replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I returned after 10 days. I was moving slow on the first day back, but after that I did great. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
Non supportive spouse
Rokumok4 replied to courtknee_luv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband of 17 years was not supportive for 2 years that I wanted this done. It was very important to me that I have his support just in case something happened. We have 3 children together. He said he did not want me to have this surgery because this was an elective procedure and he could not handle the risk of losing me and leaving our kids motherless. I get it. 2 years later, he finally came around after I presented my case again, and the kids did too. Fast forward to now, I had the surgery. My family has been my best support. They walked with me while I was post op, and they had Soups ready for me when I got off work. I could not have gone through this without them. PreOp eating everything in sight?
Rokumok4 replied to Havasumoma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did that. Gained 13 lbs and had no regrets. Now that I am post op, I am glad I got to eat and drink all my favorites before the pre-op stage. My last meal was amazing. Now I am content with the post op requirements and I have no cravings. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
It's Official...
Rokumok4 replied to The Starving Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite seafood buffet. We drove over and hour to eat there. Best last meal ever. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -

Sleeved and at home recuperating!
Rokumok4 replied to Dinks97420's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I was lucky and did not feel any pain during removal. It just felt like something was crawling inside of me for a second. Glad you are feeling better. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
I had 4. The first 3 are from instruments and the larger one is on the left side of abdomen. I also had a JP drain. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

I asked my surgeon the same question. He said it could be the Scopolamine patch or it could be the gel they put in your eyes before they tape them shut for surgery. Not that I condone that, but my coworker used ankle weights under her jeans to qualify. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

Did anybody meet somebody that had Gastric sleeve surgery prior to when you had yours?
Rokumok4 replied to TracyBar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once I said that I'm getting it done, so many people were telling me about their experiences. I had no idea that they had it done. In the past, I have worked with 4 nurses from different hospitals that had it done. Every person except for one reached their goal weight. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
How has surgery changed family life.
Rokumok4 replied to feller2005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been cooking daily for my family of 5. It was much harder during the preop stage with a normal stomach. I am post op day 6 and on full liquids. I am no longer struggling to make some buffalo wings and Mac and cheese, but then to warm up my broth on the side. I am ready to chew again and I'm sure cooking my old favorite food for others will be even easier then. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person. -
My toddler is the same. A very hyper 2 year old who is into everything. She is 30 lbs and my MD told me I can lift her 7 days post op. For the first 7 days I made her lie down next to me for diaper changes and I asked her to come to me for snuggles. I did not have to pick her up. Her older sisters help picking her into the car seat. But you could also ask her to climb into the seat and you can buckle her up. You can serve her food on the side table instead of high chair. My daughter loved running to the table every couple of minutes for another bite. Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.
