Welcome Roustabout! You don't live too far from me. I am on one side of Houston and you are on the other. Are you going to Houston for lap band surgery? You will get alot of good info and encouragement on this site.

He just smiled when I told him about all of you. He said he gets alot of emails from all over the country telling him how it encourages them to get the surgery. Now, he is all about gastric bypass for the super morbid obese or really those over 50bmi, but because I have had so many abdominal sugeries the lap band was the choice for me. He agreed. I am so grateful I found all of you to support me. I had to sign a paper saying I would attend a support group, but it only meets once a month.

Thanks! Actually, He was recommended to me by the colon surgeon before he had a show. He has a super busy practice. He keeps telling me all the things I have heard from all of you veterans.....it is just a tool and I have to work hard to lose. I just want to lose 75lbs by April in time for our Hawaiian cruise. I don't want to have to ask for a seat extender. That was my "ah ha" moment last year when we went to Vegas. Never again. I was so humiliated.

Well, I just got back from Dr G. Davis for my pre-op. I confessed to him of having "last supper syndrome". So many of my skinny friends want to take me out before the band. Anyway, it is a go for July 16. By the way, I asked Dr Garth Davis if "Big Medicine" was going to be showing again and he said yes. The re -runs are on Discovery Health and the new show should be next year. I told him that all bandsters on LBT wanted to know.....the fifties group that is. I have to start the liquid on July 2nd. Yippee!

I haven't had the surgery yet, but with my doctor's nutrition class we are given one free consult with a nutritionist after surgery. You might check with his office.....I am sure they can help you. Don't beat yourself up....there is a solution to your weight gain.

I'll put you on my prayer list. I start my pre-op liquid diet on Wednesday. I need prayer too!

Well, Girl, I am 57 and being banded on July 16th. I am excited and scared. All I can tell you is just go with it and do whatever the nurses and doctors say. I haven't had this surgery, but since 2000 I have had three major abdominal surgeries....two of which were colon resections. You are alot stronger than you realize. Yes, recovery may take a little longer, but just take one day at a time. It's gonna be "all good". We will be sing praises in no time with our fellow bandsters.:thumbup:

Hey, does anyone know how I get rid of the "edit post" button on my post? :tt2: It showed up a couple of posts ago and I don't know what I did. I am technically challenged. Also I am weight loss challenged or I wouldn't be here.

So glad to hear you are feeling better. I am watching all of you with new bands because my banding is July 16th. I hate to throw up!!!!!!!!!

Mine is Bariatric Advantage for two weeks starting July2nd....Yikes!

Indiogirl, CONGRATS! YOU have inspired all of us! I am getting excited about jumping on the bandwagon with you . I have pre-op with Dr. Davis on monday and start my liquid diet. I have alot more to lose than you, but I am ready to start a new life. Come on JULY 16th.

YIPPEE! My band date is July 16th. I just purchaseed my pre-op liquid diet from Bariatric Advantage. I hope it tastes good. I start on it July 2nd. I am ready for this new journey!

Thanks....IndioGirl, for reminding me of the binder. Yes, I have a whole folder of foods. It was the last class I took in April. The nurse called today....changed my surgery date from July 9th to July16th. Two weeks before the surgery I have to start a liquid diet. My new grandbaby is due August 17th. I want to be recovered by then.

Kareyquilts, I noticed you have almost reached your goal. How many calories do you eat a day? I am a stash hound too. I love fabric as much as food. Maybe, after the surgery, I will get some of those tops quillted because I sure don't need to transfer my eating addiction to buying fabric.....no room.

Thanks for the input. I am glad you are back on track. My son lost 120 in a year and then fell off the "bandwagon" and gained forty lbs back. He is back on track too. It definitely is not a fix. Just a tool to help us stay on track.

Thanks! Indiogirl gave me some websites ....I have ordered samples. I guess I know about the protein drinks....does the liquid period have to be clear liquids? and do we have to add protein to chicken broth?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Lynlyn, I am getting banded July 9th. Reading this thread has calmed my nerves about the surgery. All the the bandsters are so helpful. I am looking forward to sharing and caring with you and all the others that have joined. Hi Kareyquilts....Welcome! Do you quilt? I am a newbie quilter....takes my mind off of food. I plan on using that tool too after I am banded. Question. What are some the liquids I should buy for the first few days? My son drank Gatorade, but I haven't heard of anyone else drinking it.

Yeah, my husband was a cradle robber...lol....no...our aniversary is Dec '69. You know....the Vietnam Era. He was in the service and wanted to get married before being shipped out a second time. Anyway, we have survived. I really want to lose 75 and with this liquid diet I'll be on ....it will help. Hey, I just ordered some samples of Unjury....is that good stuff?
