Yep, my husband got an email notice last wednesday laying him off(works for Dow) through the xmas holidays.....I hit the kitchen looking for snacks....I grazed all day. I even turned on Paula Deen and watched her make cookies. I am still having a problem with slider foods. My husband will not know if he has a job until January 5th. I am so thankful our kids are grown. Staying in control of my eating will be a challenge for the next 3 weeks.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I think it was me. I did go last Monday and have a half cc taken out. I have done much better. I did pb on saturday, but I have realized I cannot eat shrimp. I think some of my pbing was from eating too fast. I go on the 18th to have the half cc or at least some of it put back in. I haven't lost weight in a week. I appreciate you sharing about the pbing or I might have kept getting stuck. -
Thanks, Janet. You and Lori are right about slowing down. Now I have to prove to my husband I can go out to eat with him and not get stuck. This was the second saturday in a row. I will stay away from shrimp and steak in public....or at least until I learn to slow down. I am going out with friends today, but I will stick to Soup. I am so grateful that I can call on all of you and get advice. YOU ARE MY SUPPORT!.Yes, I do go to a weight loss bible study on Monday's, but none of them have bands. I need them too, but they cannot relate to the band issues. HUGs!!!!

Long, thanks! I don't think I will eat shrimp. I think some of my trouble is I noticed my thyroid is swollen. That probably aggravates the pbing.....and of course I am sure I ate too fast. It just takes so long to chew shrimp.
-
Okay.....here's my problem. I was pbing so I got .5cc taken out. I went to a mexican restaurant today and ate shrimp in a spicey sauce. It got stuck.....got it up, but kept sliming. I feel like I have to throw up until I can burp. Would it be better if I drank water and washed it down? I just need some help. I am so frustrated. One thing is for sure....shrimp is off the menu for me. Any ideas?

Sometimes they pre-fill the band......so you may have a couple of cc's in it. -
I am so glad your band is finally working for you. Good doctors are conservative with the fills so it sometimes takes months. Dr. Garth Davis is my doctor. If his sister's BMI was high for her height and she wanted a band then I am sure that is why they put one in. Dr. Garth has been putting fills in me since July. If Fact, he had to unfill me last week because I kept pbing. I go next week to get a small fill . I am just now reaching a good restriction too. NOW, if I can get control of my "head hunger" I will be successful.
-
JOAnn, How are you doing? I hope you got home today and all went well. We hope to hear from you soon.
-
Janet, AMEN! Our society allows discrimination of people with this disease.....yet insurance companies won't help. It is just not right!
-
Charlene - if I ever lost my band I would go to Mexico and get a sleave done... I never want to be fat - how come insurance will pay for bypass but not a sleeve... Stupid imho if the insurance companies even cared.. Janet, Dr. Davis said that insurance co don't have enough data to approve it. He said once one state does approve it the rest should follow. It is much cheaper than bypass. He said it gives the same restriction as bypass without the resectioning of the intestine. They do cut the excess stomach away and remove. He just seems to thinks it will be a better surgery. That is what he wanted to do on me, but insurance would not pay.
-
Oh, he will have Gastric Bypass. He has this "thing" about needles. We kept our insurance when he retired. We don't carry insurance with his current employer. He is just worried about being off work for surgery if he has to go to work for another company. Yes, the layoffs are starting to hit our part of the country. I am just glad my kids are grown. I feel for these young families especially at Christmas.

LONG, CONGRATS! on the new job. Sounds like a real motivator to exercise. I hope the .5 works out good for you. I am glad I had an unfill, but now I am a little too hungry. Maybe I was just eating too fast coupled with the stress. Oh well, I'll get it right on the 18th. I just got back from a weight loss surgery seminar for my husband. Dr. Davis gave it. He really would like to do Gastric Sleeves on patients, but insurance won't pay for it yet. My husband is interested, but he got notice today that he will be temporarily laid off from the 15th to Jan 5. He is an engineer at a chemical plant. Supposedly they will let him know after the Jan 5th if they are going to keep him. So, his surgery decision is going to be based on employment. I am hoping he will at least start the process to satisfy our insurance.

Joann, One more day! I am so excited for you. You will do great. -
orea, woohoo! You go girl!
-
Kimaly, I am sorry you are having to have a biopsy. I know you must be so anxious. I had one when I was in my twenties after the birth of my second child. I will say a prayer for you. Hugs and prayers!
-
You go girl! I hope it is the kickstart you need. Yep, stay on liquids today. I hope 5cc will put you to your sweet spot.:cursing::thumbup:

Orea, I am so glad you are back and doing good. I was concerned you dropped off the LBT. I called the doctor's office yesterday about all the pbing I was doing. They wanted to see me for an unfill. He took out .5cc. Wow, I feel so much better although I get hungry sooner. I would rather be a little hungry than getting stuck every time I eat. I go on the 18th for a fill. He will probably put a little of it back.

Good morning. GRRRR that half pound now has some friends. I'm up another whole pound today. What's going on?? The only difference in my normal routine was my breakfast. While out of town I ate s/f yogurt that had 14gm of Protein in it. Normal breakfast is eggbeaters and 2 slices precooked bacon. I drank even more Water than normal. Okay, Lori, don't stress over it! talking to myself here. LORI, DON'T STRESS.....STRESS WILL KEEP THE LBS ON. ARE YOU DRINKING YOUR WATER? MY DOCTOR SAID AT LEAST 60OZS A DAY OF liquid. I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY......YOU ARE TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED.
-
Janet, I am much better today. My stomach actually growled this morning. Now, I really have to keep track of the food going in. I think he will put the .5cc back in on the 18th or at least a little of it. Whew, I never realized how miserable it can be to have too much fill. I missed you on the threads yesterday.....are you doing okay? I know the holidays can be tough when you are grieving. We are here for you. Hugs for you today!

Thanks Apple. You know, if I hadn't heard Denise explain about getting stuck and pbing....I probably would have sat here this evening with a golfball in my chest and heaving over the toilet. Thanks for encouraging me to call the doctor. I need all the advice I can get from my LBT peeps. Oh, I bought the Greek Yogurt today. They only had three flavors. I liked the honey. -
Prayers and Hugs for you on December 4th!

I think stress must do something. I haven't PB'd in a while, am getting a fill on Thurs. yet while on vacation PB'd 3 times. Usually it's just once and I'm done but one of the times lasted for an hour. Also, in the past I have PB'd twice on french fries. Odd as they seem mushy. I know one of the times this time I swallowed too big a piece of ham. Are you taking small bites? are you eating small portions? Long, I was getting stuck on pudding.....so I called the doctor today, and they wanted to see me. He took out half a cc. Yeah, I came home and ate and I didn't pb .....I was finally able to burp like a normal person. I am sure he will put it back on the 18th. I was getting stuck on most hard Protein. I was just eating mushies. Yes, the stress has caused my reflux to kick in again. My mother is improving, but she has a way to go. She is 85, legally blind, and now has a very weak heart. It just makes me sad. We are very close. Oh, did you notice I finally lost fifty lbs. That was so encouraging for me. The most I have ever lost is 48lbs. Glad you had a great time.
