Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Charlene K replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a major stress eater. I know I am, but I can't seem to get a handle on it right now. My aunt will not be buried until next Monday. She wanted to be buried by her first husband at Veteran's cemetery and they won't be open till the 5th. So, this will be a long week. I did start sewing today to get my mind off of eating. It helps. I know about caring for aging parents. Assisted living is expensive. Fortunately my mother is still in a retirement apartment. She lives in a high rise that has apartments, assisted living, and a nursing home. And being a non profit complex her place is quite affordable. I can sleep at night knowing she can call for help, and they will come right away. -

When you look for a place be sure and check out any retirement homes that are run by churches. My mother lives in one run by the Methodist and she has a one bedroom, one, bath, with a nice kitchen and living room. She only pays 1350.00 a month and that includes utilities. It is really nice. -

LORI,....AWESOME GOALS!....You can do it! On a sad note, my mother's sister died last night. It was unexpected. I had to tell my mother even though her heart is bad. Naturally she took it bad. She is 85 and her sister was 83. Anyway, when I got home a little while ago I hit the sliders. I know. I have issues. I have got to get a handle on stress eating. It is my downfall to success......just had to vent and share. Please pray for me. This will be a stressful week with a funeral pending for friday or saturday. I just hope my mother holds up.:frown: -
Joiful, I pb'd 4 times in two weeks and called the dr. They said I needed and unfill....so they took out .5. Now, I only pb if I eat too fast and don't chew well. That has only happened 2 times in a month.

Janet , I am an early riser, but I am also two hrs ahead of you. I was getting ready to go to 8am church service. Well, gonna have navy beans today. Since I got banded my DH makes beans at least twice a month. I am hooked on them! Yep, it is a New Year and New Goals for 2009. I want to reach ONEDERLAND by the end of this year.
-
July bandsters unite! Let's move on to a new year with a renewed mindset. We will reach our personal goals this New Year!

Becky, I know what you mean. I had steak and broccoli and took half my meal home. Last night I finished it and got stuck and pb'd. I think my problem is chewing and mixing the food. I need to do protein first and then the veggie or carb. I am learning though...this is the first pb in over two weeks. :tongue_smilie:

LORI, Sounds like you made out like a bandit on the leather jacket. I did not got shopping. I am not going to buy until the scales start moving down again. I need a fill, but my appt. is not until Jan. 19th. I am going to see if I can get worked in next week. I here ya on the weight gain. It is probably water gain from the salt and carbs. You can shake that off in a day or so. Glad to see you had a good Christmas. I was blessed too to have all my kids together and enjoying each other's company. I am especially blessed to have had my mother for another year. Well, girl, we better get back on the bandwagon! We have a whole NEW YEAR to reach our personal goals.:thumbup::smile:

MiMi, Hugs and prayers for you and your family. I know this is a tough time for you. If we can helf ......we are here for you. -
Janet I hope you had a Merry Christmas too! Of course I ate too much. I am not weighing till Monday. I got stuck on a deviled egg. So I will just add that to my list of "no! no! " foods. Of course the sliders slid right down with no problems. I left all the sweets at my DS's. Tomorrow it's "back to the future"......walk.....journal......walk....journal. I am ready for a NEW YEAR!:tongue2::thumbup:

Long, after my last colon surgery the surgeon put me on Miralax and Dr. Davis said it was fine to take daily. I buy the large bottle.....30 day supply. You may not need it daily, but I take as a preventative against colon problems.
-
Long, I answered you on the 50 thread. Anyway, Miralax is not thick like metamucil. You shouldn't have a problem with it. It is a little expensive, but it works without side effects.
-
I hope you feel better soon. Don't worry about the weight.....it is fluid. It will come off. Just take care of yourself.

Long, just take one capeful in eight ozs of water. It is not thick like metamucil. I have taken it for a couple of years. Hey, bandster buddies! All y'all have a Merry Christmas! -
AMEN! JUST GOT TO KEEP ON KEEPING ON!
-
ONE WORD .....MIRALAX....EVERYDAY. It has no taste ....I drink it every night before bedtime. Takes a couple of days to start working. It is safe to take every day. After many bouts of diveticulits I have found that this works better than any of the laxatives or fiber supplements I have taken.

Pennylane, I had to get an unfill the first of December because I was pbing too much. The weight loss has stopped, but I have been working on eating slower and chewing. I think I am ready to get some of the fill I lost. You need both......slower eating and the right fill. It is a balancing act . We will get there!
-
Long, yep, the low tonight is 36 and it should be in the 70's for Christmas. No thanks on the cold although I do get tired of using heat at night and a/c during the day. Girl, your doing great.....I'm with you....at least I am not gaining 10lbs this season. I did taste my sand tarts and they made me sick. I am glad I am losing my sweet tooth.
-
LOL..........Yeah, well, that's the way we roll down here at Christmastime!
-
Janet, I said I am not baking next year. I have to make cookies for our "Christmas Eve, Eve" at church on the 23rd. Get this, we are hauling ing 60,000 lbs of snow for the kids to play in. I know all of you up north think we are crazy, but this is a treat for us. The only problem is there is a 50% chance of rain. YIKES! So far I have done real well on controlling my snacking. I have been eating protein before I bake.
-
DITTO'S JANET! I WROTE EARLIER , BUT DISAPPEARED. Anyway, I went to Walmart and got the turkey and all the trimmings for Christmas. I made four kinds of cookie dough.....they are chilling in the frig. I AM NOT BAKING NEXT YEAR! It is too hard to stay on track. I did eat Protein, so maybe I won't dip into the Cookies. I really don't like sweets anymore like I like snacky stuff. You know, chex mix, cheese balls, crackers.....bad! bad! bad! HAVE A GREAT DAY!
