Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Charlene K replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks peeps! Well, DH slept all night without snoring. I had to keep touching him because you know at our age, well, you know. We got up at 6am and walked. He is just walking a little to get the gas out. He only took one dose of Tylenol last night. I am just amazed at his recovery. I am ready to start a new year . I am excited to have a live in buddy on this journey. Of course I need my lap band buddies so I can vent and share. Again, Thanks for helping me through my first year of banding.:scared2: -

Prayers are going your way! How long is the recovery. Are you having the procedure where they cut you all the way around your waist or is it a TT and lipo? I know when I get this weight off I want a TT. Of all the sags that bothers me the most. -

Yes, Dr. Garth Davis did his surgery. I just can't believe how well he is doing. Oh, today is my bandiversary........One year! Woohoo! I was talking to Dr Davis about my plateau and he said he has hired an excellent nutritionist. So, I may go a few times. He also set up online a place to keep a food diary.......one that the nutritionist will read. I am going to see how much. I do need some consultation. I wish Big Medicine was on here. I haven't seen it on TLC or Discovery health. Where are you watching it? -

DH had gastric bypass yesterday and we are home today. He is doing great. Thanks for the prayers and concerns. -
We are home! DH had surgery at 2pm yesterday. He is doing so well that Dr. Davis released him. The drive home gave him some discomfort, but it was probably my driving gave him anxiety. Thanks for your prayers and concerns.

We are home. He had surgery yesterday at 2pm and has done so well the doctor released him. He is hurting right now from the ride home, but I think he will be fine. Thanks for your concern.

Well, my son did not get called back for Biggest Loser. I think he was relieved because it is for 14 weeks and workouts are 6-10hrs a day. I know he will get back on a plan. You have to have been inspired after watching all the super morbid obese stand in line for Biggest Loser. Okay, peeps, I will be busy this week. I will check back in after my DH gets home from having gastric bypass. Keep him in your prayers! HUGS and LOVE to all!

Quilting Bee, CONGRATULATIONS! on your weight loss, and HAPPY ANIVERSARY!. Enjoy your pool. Our 40th is in December. We are going to Hawaii. We lived our first married years there so we just wanted to take a stroll down memory lane. The best part is we are both going to be comfortable in our airplane seats. It is an eight hour flight from here.

Congrats! to you. Don't they take all your fill out then put it back in with the new stuff. My doctor takes it all out in the syringe that has about 1cc in it. Then she pushes in back in till it stops or becomes difficult to push. I usually can only hold a .3-.5 extra. I guess they all have their on techniques. This seems to work for me. Good to hear from you. Keep in touch. DH is having gastric bypass on Wednesday. I haven't had to cook so I might get that ticker to move this week. I aslo started walking again. it seems to be the only exercise I am consistent with.
-
I would call the doctor. If you are diabetic you don't want to mess up your levels. They may modify your diet.

He went for a fill a couple of months ago. It did not help. I look for him to get gastric bypass next year. His insurance does not cover WLS or fills since he became self employed. Yeah, his BIL talked him into trying out in San Antonio. He has been posting comments all morning........stuff I can't put on this thread. It is hillarious.

Janet, I feel your pain.........I had a similar experience when I retired. Anyway, CONGRATS! for thirty loyal years. Well, my son is trying out for Biggest Loser today. Yeah, obesity is a family thing. He was banded two years ago and lost 120lbs and has gained it all back. He never followed up on his fills and did not have a support system. Our family has that addiction gene. My poor babies got it from both of us. They are in their thirties, and now their metabolisms are slowing down. I don't know if they will accept him with a band.

Good to hear from you. Wow! you have a lot of fill. I know, when I needed an unfill.........I was miserable. Pb'ing all the time. Now I am trying to build back. I go on the 29th hopefully for my last fill for awhile. I too, hope to have reached goal by the end of next year.

I am here. I am just waiting for my ticker to move so I will have something to shout about. I think our July Butterflies have flown to other threads. If you read this........Butterflies check in!

I was considering WW until the doctor's office called this morning with a surgery date for DH. He is getting gastric bypass next Wednesday. We will just support one another for now. -
Thanks! I am so glad he was able to get in next week. I think you might ought to watch the spicey stuff. I noticed that when I eat spicey stuff gas builds in my stomach and I feel stuck. I have to stop eating till I burp. I found taking pepcid in the morning helps.

I think quite a few of us are struggling. My doctor wants me to eat a half a cup of food six times a day totalling 800calories. I eat 1200 calories a day. I haven't reached that "sweet spot" yet. I too, had an unfill in April. It was a struggle. Now, I have half of it back and will get more on the 29th. The best way to keep going down is journal and exercise. We are slow losers at our age, but I believe we can get to our goal. I have allowed myself 2-3yrs to get there. Hang In There! -
Doctor Davis' office just called.......DH surgery is next Wednesday. They had a cancelation so he got the spot. So, his liquid diet starts tomorrow. Yeah, Janet, the Lifestyle lift without lipo or eyes is 4,000. Not bad. Now, you are awake. They numb your face with shots. My friend said the ones around the eyes sting. Long, please stay away from BEARS this weekend! PJ.........I am so glad you are better.

With shrimp........chew,chew,chew,......I pb'd on shrimp more than once. I don't eat it anymore. It is one of my favorite foods. -
Janet.........I took my friend to her follow up after the Lifestyle lift. She is doing good. It took care of her turkey neck and the lines caused by 122lb weight loss in 10 mos. I think it looks natural. She also had her eyes done too and lipo in her neck. It was 7100 total. The doctor said it takes three mos. for her to really see the results. I might check into it after I lose the rest of my weight. Thanks for the WW advice. I am seriously considering joining. That is the only diet I have ever lost on. Yeah, the point system can get out of hand. Last time I went they had a low carb diet too. I just need to be accountable to someone that will weigh me once a week. Also, I have a friend that just joined and she needs a buddy. Yep, I am eating too many carbs. Dr. Davis called today and said his assistant will be calling with a new surgery date for DH. I am ready to get this journey going for the two of us. We are going to Hawaii in December for our 40th aniversary.

Julie, I will be praying for you and your surgeon. Please keep us informed on your recovery. I am so sorry you have to go through all of this. Take Care!

Thanks Joann for the info. I had never heard about the set point theory. Very Interesting. I will google the set point diet. I was at this weight for about five years , so maybe I will be here for a few more weeks. I hope it is a plateau I am on. -

Janet..........just checking in. DH was cleared for surgery.....now he needs a date. As for me, well I am somewhat discouraged. I haven't lost in months. I think I need help. Do you think I would benefit from WW? I can't go to support groups. They are downtown Houston at night, and I don't drive the freeways at night. Got any ideas?
