I went to the endocrinologist yesterday. He isn't sure why I ache and have IBS, but he said I am I do have vitamin deficiency. So, I got a B12 shot and a script for vitaminD to take every three days. The stomach med is really helping, and I just take tylenol for the aching. I am hoping the vitamins help. Okay, Butterflies, have a great weekend! Journal, exercise, eat slow............you know the drill! Take care!

Well, just got back from the endocrinologist. He doesn't know why I have the aches and IBS, but I do have a vitamin deficiency. So, I got a B12 shot and a script for vitamin D to take every three days for two months. I hope the problem was just a deficiency and it will improve. A cold front is moving in today......time will tell. The fill is really working fine. I don't plan on getting another one till next year. Janet, I got in my new purse and jacket. I am still waiting on my necklace. Speaking about jewelry. I am taking my first jewelry (beads) making class this saturday. I just love the Christmas earings you can make with crystals. OH by the way, this dr I went to is not too encouraging about bands, but he was very pleased with my loss.
-
Yep, I get a sore port..............adhesions. It is also sore when I pb or lift something heavy.
-
Charlene - I got you beat gf - I just got a micro fiber demin & co jacket - then a leather jacket (motto I think) - then the todays special value a maxi coat - then a pair of gold earring - clarisonic face washer (cheaper than the body one) - Instyler - OMG I am going to have to block the channel now !!! Oh they get you with those easy pay - only $16 a month for 5 months !!! LOL........Janet, I didn't tell you about all the Christmas decorating crap I bought last month. Is QVC our transfer addiction? Naw, cuz I was addicted long before lap band surgery. Sorry, about the work situation. My DH is on the ropes about December. It worked so well last year they may furlough him again. At least he is still employed.
-
Apples..........DH is doing great. He is losing about 2.5 to 3lbs a week. I bought him some shorts for Hawaii in December, but they are going to be to big by then. Me, I am the same. Oh, and the weather is changing, so, I feel like crap., but not as bad as before the stomach med. I will go see the endocrinologist on Thursday. Great, sorry about the family. Just remember, you have another family too.........the family of God. So, sister, I am here for you. Laura, still praying for you and your dad. Take Care! Julie, Happy Birthday, again! One day, going down in size is an awesome feeling. I channel surfing and yes, I got stuck on QVC. I ordered a smaller jacket and a Tignanello purse. I just love those purses. Oh that's not all. Then the Artisan Silver came on and I bought a necklace. I really need to block that channel. Okay, girls, enough confession for the day.

In case I forget...............HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE! I went to the Weight Loss dr today. Instead of an unfill I got a tiny fill.......... a .2 . She said to stay on shakes for a couple of days. I go back in a month. My stomach feels better. Of course the weather has stabilized and so has my pain. I go to the endocrinologist on thursday and he will know more about this pain thing. The doctor said it wasn't the band.

Apples................you are one HOT CHICK! Janet............wow, sure you don't live in Houston?.......glad they caught those thugs. Congrats! on your 30years. Laura........still praying God's peace for you and yours. Eva, yeah, I can handle the stiffness......I just walk it off. Oh and Janet, I am going Monday to get a slight unfill because I cannot eat hard protein without pb'ing. I guess the spasms are making everything tight. Your right, I have been eating sliders and I think I have gone up a couple of pounds. I also think I need GI tests to see if the band has slipped or erroded.......just to be on the safe side. Phyl and Great............I hope Y'all are enjoying your new knees.
-
Janet...........I hope all goes well today. I retired early because the company I worked for closed our department. Well, that stomach medicine really helped with the spasms. The cool front blew in an no IBS. I still have an appt on Monday with Dr. Davis. I am having a problem eating hard Protein without pbing. I may need a slight unfill. I hope all my band buddies have a great weekend!
-
Lori, sounds like you are doing great on the recovery. Family............enought said. Julie, glad you made it home safely. We missed you! Apples, no I couldn't hang with that cold weather. My stomach is doing so much better. The cold front is coming in tonight. Time will tell. I was really stiff this morning, but my gut didn't hurt........so that was a good sign for me.
-
Apples, my arms and legs ache, but not like my stomach. It is all those adhesions, especially the ones by my port.
-
Melinda, you sound miserable. Yep, you will probably get better as the cold clears up. I went through that last year. My band seemed so tight with all the drainage. I hope you are better soon.
-
Laura, I have been praying for your dad and family......I will continue to pray for all of you..........God's Grace and Peace be with you during this time. HUGS, Arlene

Apples , you are a HOOT! Yep, I feel the same . I have one sister. She doesn't want to help take care of my 86yr old mother, but when she does............I never hear the end of it. I continue to keep my mouth shut about how I feel, but when mama is gone............it ain't gonna be nice. For now, for respect of my mother, I will continue to play nice. I love my sister..............I just don't like her. Hey, I am feeling better. The stomach relaxer has helped me, but a cold front is moving in tomorrow. That will be the test. Today, it is in the 90's, but tomorrow.........high 50's. Girl, if I lived in the north I would have to move to Hawaii. Great.........glad you are doing so good. Did you get a card from me? I hope I had the right address. Janet, many thanks again for this thread. It keeps me accountable. HUGS to all! Arlene

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Charlene K replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Katy............how are you doing? I prayed for your last surgery, but lost track. I am having problems now. I think it may be Fibromyalgia because it is triggered by weather change. The adhesions across my upper abdomen cause my stomach to spasm which causes acid reflux and diarrhea. It is crazy. I am taking a stomach muscle relaxer right now and it does help. I too have entertained the idea of a gastric sleeve if the band stops working, and so far I have been on a plateau for months. My surgeon highly recommends them over bands. Insurance wouldn't pay so I have a band. The person that had a sleeve I think was a lap band moderator and she may have a gastric sleeve thread now. Is her name Teresa? Janet(Indiogirl) knows her. -
Thanks to all the Butterflies for being here for me. We all need support. Heaven knows, those who don't have bands don't understand. By the way, I am feeling better today. The stomach medincine has really helped. I am tired of being on this plateau. Has anyone considered getting a sleeve? I have been entertaining the idea......not that my surgeon would ever open me up again.
-
Don't beat yourself up. Today is a new day. Journal your food and you won't overeat. If you do want something off plan then save the calories from another meal and eat it. It will take awhile to get good restriction. You are in "bandster hell" right now. We all went through it.

Janet............sorry for your loss. I know you feel violated. My son was out of town and had everything electronic taken from his home and guns too. People on facebook knew he was out of town. He thinks it was someone who knew him......maybe even the lawn people. He updated his alarm system. People are deperate these days. Well, after pilling up I am feeling better today. This is the weirdest condition I have ever had. When the cool front blew in I felt like I had diverticulitis. After taking a muscle relaxer, xanax, Librax, and Tylenol.......I got a handle on the pain. I really think I need and unfill to control the acid reflux . Great..........you sound great! Apples........did you decide on the job? Laura.......praying for you and your family. If.........why did your friend have her band removed and get a sleeve? Phyl...........saw the pics of your grandkids. They are adorable. Deann........it takes awhile to reach that sweet spot. It is very important to write down your food or you will eat too much. Be patient.......you will get there.
-
Yeah, you are not supposed to take Advil on a regular basis. I had me a drug cocktail last night.......Ambien, Tylenol, Pepcid, and Librax. I woke up this morning feeling much better. Oh, I forgot, I took a low dose of Xanax too. Hey, when you hurt like I did, you have to do whatever it takes. I am hoping to come up with the right mix next time the weather changes. This is the weirdest condition I have ever had. My gut felt like I had diverticulitis......and that is bad. You would think my weight would go down, but I retain fluid with these meds. I will let y'all know what happens after I see the WL doc. I wish he could go in there and take out all of my adhesions. I know I would get some relief.
-
I went to the GP yesterday. She thinks I may have Fibromyalgia. She gave me a muscle relaxer for my stomach and told me to take Advil for pain. A cool front blew in today, and my gut is hurting. I took the muscle relaxer and it didn't help so I found some Levsin. I have so much acid reflux I know I need to get an unfill to help. I go to the WL doctor on the 19th.
-
Thanks for the info. I will talk to my WL doctor about a slight unfill. I am still in the denial state. I took a stomach relaxer this morning then the first big cool front blew into Houston about an hour ago. I am cramping big time. All those adhesions from previous colon surgeries are fired up. I had IBS till my first colon surgery about nine years ago. Then it went away until last month. My adhesions are so bad the doctor would not do bypass on me......the band was my only choice. Even though I have lost half of my weight.....I am at a plateau. I took a metabolism test last month. You breathe in a machine and it reads the calories you take in (resting metabolism). It wasn't good. I only burn 1300 calories a day. So, in order to lose a lb a week I can only eat 1200calories. Now I have to deal with taking more medication. I hope I can still lose. The GP yesterday said something about takine Savella. Does anyone take it? What are the side effects? Is it an antidepressant? I have taken a low dose of xanax for years for my adhesions. It does help a little for the anxiety , but not for the pain.
-
Thanks for the advice. I see the WL Doc on the 19th. My concern right now is the acid reflux when I have these spasms. I don't want to mess up my insides. Hopefully, he will order GI tests to make sure everything is okay.
-
Does anyone get IBS with Fibromyalgia? I went to the doctor today and she said I may have Fibromyalgia. Adhesions spasm across my stomach and give me IBS. She started me on a stomach muscle relaxer today. I hope it helps. The aches are bad enough, but this IBS is the pits. I may even see about having some fill taken out. I have so much acid in my stomach when the spasms kick in. I don't want to start having band problems too.
-
I am so glad you are home and feeling so good. Take it easy, and don't over do. The only way I can describe it is my abdomen feels like I just got out of lap band surgery. Those adhesions spasm right across my stomach which causes my stomach to cramp. I am going to only take the advil when needed and alternate with Tylenol. I will save pain meds for last resort. I hope the stomach relaxor works because it hurts worse than the body aches. I am thinking I might have a little more taken out of my band till I can get a handle on all of this new found problem. I have been journaling and walking, but still have not lost weight. At least I have not gained........that is a blessing! Take Care!
-
I went to the GP today. She thinks I may have Fibromyalgia. She did not prescribed the heavy duty anti inflammatories because I can't tolerate them. She did prescribe a muscle relaxor for my stomach and told me to take advil for the aching. If the pain persist she is going to prescribe a new drug for Fibromyalgia. Changing weather is not going to be my friend this fall and winter.

Laura, I am so sorry your news was not good. I know your parents must be in shock, and you too. Please know you and your parents will be in my daily prayers. Arlene
