We had two classes that were taught by laic ppl. Third grade and sixth grade. With going to church every morning at 8am, we were requried to wear a veil. The most traumatic school year incident for me was forgetting my veil on day when I was in third grade. Mrs. Campion just reach up her sleeve, pulled out a USED wadded up Kleenex and bobby pinned it to my head. I cried the entire mass. Then after mass I had to kneel in the corner of the classroom for an hour and read the bible OUT LOUD. I was devastated. Everything they did back then was shame based. VerticalSleeveTalk Click to visit the largest Vertical Sleeve community online! __________________ Yeah, that was the place to learn shame and low self esteem. Apples, that is funny. My shame was I was sick for a few days. Sister Burkman( had taught in a boys military school) checked my desk and glue had leaked out of my cigar box (remember them?). So everyday she would ask where the messy girl was....when I returned back to school she shamed me in front of the class. I wonder if she went to heaven?

Apples - we have so very much in common - I went to Catholic school from 2nd grade to 7th grade (didn't get invited back for my 8th grade year) We went to church every friday more in school :0) that's where we were when we got the word that JFK died.. My school had a mix of nuns and lay teachers - our nuns were pretty nice - well execpt for the principal - but nothing like the horror stories about catholic schools and gotta say when I went to public school - I was more advanced than them.. We can compare stories in FL ;0) Janet, I went to Catholic school for eight years too. Yep, I had the nun that threw the erasers and chalk at you if you were talking......Or make you go to confession if you pissed her off. I went to mass every school day. I even wanted to be a nun. I thought they were so holy....the nice ones. That notion faded when I went to public school. I had cream of wheat for breakfast.....then Tilapia for lunch.

Julie...hope you got at least some sleep. I did. Felt good. Been up for a couple of hours but DH just got up. I love it when he can sleep in. Have steel cut oats on the stove. Made the entire bag this morning so I can throw some in the freezer. I ate some yesterday but was full for too long. Think I am going to have to leave them alone. I get too full and cannot get cals in. Apples, I did not know you could cook steel cut oats and freeze them. How long do they last?

Janet......Well, I tried to eat turkey and cheese for lunch....then a fiber bar for snack. Dinner was a Lean Cuisine fish, but all I could eat was the fish. I am having some stomach issues today. Oh, I did eat pretzels.....and too many. The weather is horrible here so no walking. I know, I need to exercise !
-

They either reached goal and don't need help or they found another source of support. My doctor said to eat 800 calories the first year and I didn't do it......hence I am only half way through to goal. He also told me I really needed bypass, but I was not a good candidate. Maybe our butterflies will check in and see we are still together. Okay, today I ate Fiber/protein bar, chicken, 4oz roast.....tried to eat more, but I have IBS tonight and my band is tight.

502.......batting a thousand today!

Lori.......call your dr and get a low dose of ambien.....I'm just saying.....works for me Food change for the night. Roast 4 oz Sandwich thin toasted. Veggie.
-
Yikes! What have I done? Really, I need food police. I would be in jail if eating junk was a crime. That is how I got this way. Okay, Lean cuisine for tonight....yeah, I will add 50cals. Heather, we are here for you. It is hard to stay on track with little ones. Props to you!!!!!

Okay! Okay! What did I ask for???? I had a fiber bar for breakfast, and chicken for lunch (that's all) 30grams of protein so far. I am gonna walk this afternoon . One more day of good weather. Lori, my mother has a bad heart. My sister and I think this may be her last year with us. She is so nervous when one of us goes out of town. I just can't do it this year, but boy I would like to. The doctor cut my Fibro med to the lowest dose and my bp med to half of what I am taking. She talked to the Savella rep yesterday and said that low bp is rare. Figures. I am sensitive to most medicine. OKay, I am good today.......Janet, you don't have to kick my butt yet! Apples, hold off on the voodoo doll. Okay gang, gotta go run errands.
-
I just got back from the doctor. She cut the Fibro med in half and my bp med in half. I will keep a watch on my bp. Remember, I had that breath test done for my calorie intake and it was 1300 for my resting metabolism. She said I need to exercise and eat 1100 to 1200 a day to lose one lb a week. Oh, Yay! That is why I gained over the holidays. When you lose you don't need as many calories. Your metabolism slows without exercise. That is why people gain their weight back. With the band you can keep control of your appetite. That means NO SLIDERS!!!!!!!! We can do this! Today I a pumped about the new start. Try to report in. We need each other.

I wish I could go. I found out I do have flier miles, but my sister will be on a cruise at that time and we don't leave town at the same time because of my mother. The last time my sister was on a cruise my mother almost died of congestive heart failure. Maybe next time, but if it somewhere my DH wants to go he will be coming along.
-
I am headed to the doctor . Seems she thinks my bp is too low on that medicine that is helping me. Apples, do you have a voodoo doll of me? cuz if my feet get warm I will know who is causing it. lol
-
Awesome! I have more to lose than all of you, but I will make me a mini bandiversary goal too. Looks like there are four of us.......anyone else?
-
Eva......you are funny. Yep, my mom doesn't mean to guilt me.....but she does. She is about 18miles across the city. Then I have to drive her to another part of the city to the doctor. It was a beautiful day so we had a good time. I need to cherish my time with her. I set a new goal for myself. I need y'all to hold my feet to the fire.

sharlene.......You are doing great!!!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Me too! I am gonna do something like that.
-
Good for you......I hope it is all you need. Well, I called the dr this morning about my low bp since I started that Savella. I have to go in the morning. I bet she takes me off of it. Too bad cause it really took care of my pain. I guess I will find out. I ate a BBq rib for lunch and slimed and pb'd. I just ate too fast. You would think after 18 months I would have learned to eat slow. Let's start a 2010 challenge. Everyone put in their ticker a personal goal for 2010. What do you think?
-
Checking in......Oh what a beautiful day! 60 and sunny! Took mama to the doctor.....she is all good. Then drove back, stopped and got me a BBQ rib.....not good. I am sitting here sliming. When am I going to learn to slow down????? Okay ......TMI. I am so happy for all of you going to Florida. Maybe next year for me.

Good Morning Buddies! Welcome Sparkle! Just jump in and ask away. I am going to take my mother to the doctor today. This is becoming a part of my weekly schedule. She is 86. She said if I don't take her she will take a taxi.......GUILT TRIP! So once a week she pulls the taxi card on me. I wish she would just move in with me,but that isn't going to happen. So, HI HO HI HO across Houston I go. CBL

Charlene, glad you like the steel cut oats.. I want to try it but cannot find it around here... Where did you buy yours?? Anybody have any advice about that...?? How do I find it?? Julie, I got the oats at Kroger. I don't know if they are nationwide. I think someone said they were at Walmart. I like them a lot better than oatmeal.
