Charlene - How are you doing?? How's Beck going - I haven't read lately - maybe today - as I don't have any real plans - finish washing and that's about it - R&R day for me I have been doing better. The weather is warmer so I have been able to walk. Are sweet potatoes bad? I ate on for dinner last night I was afraid to eat my steak at Texas Roadhouse. I felt tight. Anyway, it was only my second time to eat one. It was more like eating dessert. Well, I just got back from church. The message was on marriage vows. He mainly pointed out the weaknesses of men. Yay! Women got a pass today. Anyway, they had a drawing for a date night... I won front row tickets to the Houston Rockets.....parking pass....all the perks. Only one problem.....I don't like to go to basketball games. One thing is for sure, I know we will fit in the seats and that is a comforting thought.

Thanks Kimaly. I might give that to myself when I reach this July challenge. I hate putting on eyeliner. I have lenses in my eyes from cataract surgery and I can't see crap up close. Sometimes I go without liner cuz it takes so long.

Cheri, Happy Aniversary! I hope DH gets well soon!

Cool! Did it hurt? Yep, I would love to have that done. Like I said, my concern is Did it hurt? and Is it expensive?

Happy Birthday Laura! Janet, I walked and now I am taking my Charlie to the groomers. When I come back I gotta make egg white pancakes. I have DH hooked on them too. I finally perfected the recipe. It tastes like french toast. 1/4 c. oats ....I use quick oats 1/4 c. egg whites 1Tbsp sf jam Mix cook in hot skillet like you would a pancake Drizzle with sf maple syrup.....or not.

I will pray for your family. My daughter and I have Hashimoto's. My daughter's goiter was very larger a few months ago and the endocrinologist increased her medicine. That disorder comes and goes.....hyper and hypo....so many doctors don't treat it. We take medication. I hope she gets the treatment she needs. Hypo or Hyper can really make you feel bad. Cheri, the info about muscle helping you burn calories came from DietandNutrition@EverydayHealth.com I thought you could just go there and get the information. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Lori, I wish I could go to Las Vegas with you! Have fun!

Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing!

I just got back from the doctor. No tweak for me. I am starting nutrition classes next month and pt in two weeks......mainly to learn exercises for me. He thinks I just need to learn how to eat the right foods. Hey, whatever it takes. I am tired of being in this rut. And he ought to know, all he sees all day are obese people who don't know how to eat properly. Meanwhile, I will keep journaling and exercising on my own. Later peeps!

I just got back from the doctor. No tweaking for me. I am starting nutrition classes next month and physical therapy to learn the right exercises for me. He thinks I will be successful with these helps. Whatever it takes. I did not come this far to stop now. I will reach a healthy goal weight. I am not discouraged.........just determined! Thanks to all of you for the encouragement.

Eva, thanks for the encouragement .... I have really been down on myself for being off track. I am better today. I journaled and exercised. Great, I did shakes for one day......I know....but tomorrow if I do get a tweak I will be on shakes in the evening. I wish I liked milk, and it just seems like anything similar to milk is not very tasty to me. I do cuz I have to. Cheri.....who knows.....he was rattling off terms or names of chemicals or hormones or something that is found in the muscle which burns calories. I wish I had picked up the myths so I could share them. I know four out of the five were false. If I remember, I will pick up the paper when I go see the doctor tomorrow.

Syndy, you go girl! I admire anyone who can run in their forties or fifties. Take care! The fitness trainer at our support group said as Bariatric patients remember his motto"First, Do No Harm"........so if it hurts modify till you build up your strength. Janet is busy with her company. She will check in when she gets time......probably not tonight. Well, peeps, I got back into journaling my food....1100 today.....30 minutes of exercise.....it would be more if it would warm up and I could walk. Okay, gotta go!......Have a great evening!
-
I don't know what it is.......but it is time for SPRING!!!! Okay, another day, bike, resistance bands.....1100calories. Yay! the calorie count includes dinner tonight.
-
You may have low D ......everytime I go to the doctor now I have low D. Last time I had low D and B12. I keep forgetting to take my D and I am sure next week when I go I will get another script to take it. The nutritionist told me that low D can mimic Fibromyalgia.......mmmmm. I hope you get to feeling better. It would be nice for the weather to improve. It was nice yesterday and I am hoping for a good one today.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Charlene K replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Rhonda, you can get it back off. I know you are disappointed. Have you tried the five day pouch test? .....google it. It is basically going back to the way you ate after surgery. Stay on a low carb, high protein eating plan and thirty minutes of exercise. Also, be proud for the successes you have made . There are a lot of bandsters on this thread that can help you and encourage you. Many have reached their goal weight. Welcome to the 50's! -
I just got back from Dr Davis support meeting. It was all about the machine that measures resting metabolism. They recommend it for banders a year out from surgery if you reach a plateau. Well, I did that. I know I have to eat 1100calories to lose. I just needed the reminder. Also , the fitness guy talked to us about building muscle so we will burn more calories. Oh, I tasted Pro Joe the new protein drink. It is a cold coffee protein drink or you can warm it up. The nurse said she uses it for cream in her coffee. It is okay......I just don't like cold coffee. I might buy a bottle and use it for cream. I like the vanilla best. Now, I go Thursday for a tweak. Newbies, welcome! You will get plenty of support and love (sometimes tough) on this thread.

Yeah, I take responsibility for most of this stall, but it is hard to stay at 1100 to lose. I am considering a sleeve, but not until September. Meanwhile, I am going to keep getting tweaks and journaling. I did exercise again this morning...........this could be a habit soon. Yay!

You Go Girl!!!!!! Sometimes you have to change things up. I am frustrated. I have not lost since we started our challenge because I gain those 2lbs then I lose them. I am going to my doctor's support group tonight. I have a friend getting bypass. I am the only lap band in the group. I just had another friend go in for a revision from band to bypass. Watching my DH drop lbs so fast is really disheartening for me. I hate being the fastest one in the crowd. I am meeting with my high school friends on Sunday......many I haven't seen in 40 years. I am getting a case of the dreads...... Just venting my frustrations.

Love all the Florida pics........Sure wish I could have gone. Well, I still haven't lost weight, but my exercise habit is forming. I am leaving for weight loss bible study. Then tomorrow night I am going to the Davis Clinic support group. Now, I just need to put all of this wisdom into practice. Girls, I am weak! Thanks for being just a few clicks away! Janet, how are you doing on the Beck book? I put it down for a few days. Later!

Congratulations! WTG Glammaw! -
No, change here.......I haven't weighed......I just feel it. I did make a cherry cobbler and of course ate some. Okay, another week . I don't have any food events this week so maybe I will lose a lb.
-
I know what you mean. We have been married 40 years and I do not want flowers or gifts from DH. Now, I did get flowers from one of my sons......that's okay.....he paid for them. My DH put together a corner computer desk I bought on line. It took all day. It looks great, but I will never buy one online again. For 600 bucks I could have gotten a nice desk at a furniture store. This desk must have had a hundred pieces. Anyway, it was a nice Valentine. Florida travelers, I am glad you had a great time and made it home safely. Looking forward to seeing the pics. Yuk, weigh in day at bible study. Once again, I don't think I lost....just maintained. Another front moved in last night ....it is 32 outside so exercise bike today with resistance bands. I think I am forming a habit. Yay!

Happy Valentine's Day July Butterflies!

Love, love, love the pics!!!!!! Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

I know what you mean about being too tight. It is a miserable feeling. I like tweaks......like.25 at a time. My doctor likes doing it that way. I know self pay probably would like to have bigger fills and fewer of them. My insurance has been paying except I have to pay a small amount. I just don't think I have ever reached a sweet spot. Right now, I am in a maintenance spot. I don't get full......I just eat by the calorie amount.
-
Girl, you look great! I think July Butterflies have good reason to be proud. My weight is stuck. I go to the dr for a fill on thursday, but I am not sure if I need one. We will see. I am also going to Dr Davis' support group on Tues night. I finally have someone to go with me. Last month there were about 25 in the group. All of them were bypass except for me. I think one had her band removed and one had a revision to a bypass because her port was infected. The diet is the same.
