My surgeon allows that for me as well as G2. Just make sure you're counting those carbs. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

My surgeon said that at the soft food stage and on I could drink up to my meal, no drink during and 30 minutes after. He said that animals don't eat and drink at the same time , but he never met my dog. I sometimes get jealous of her! Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

Anyone chose self pay due to impatience with ins?
111 replied to fits_like_a_sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's ridiculous that you have to gain 10 pounds to qualify and that they did not consider pre-diabetes a co-morbidity. The 12 month wait is a little long too. During your wait, you should be trying to lose weight and learn healthy habits, not having to gain weight, right? I hear this a lot on the wls forums and I just wonder what these insurance companies are thinking! If you have the means, go ahead and do self pay. In the meantime, try and learn healthy eating habits. That's what wls is all about - relearning how to eat. Best of luck to you in whatever you choose. Are there any Snacks that you don't like or don't care if he eats it in front of you? Ask him to eat those items when you're around and if he wants the snacks that tempt you, ask him to have those only when you're not around. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

Is this a real thing and where did you get one? Seems like a great idea! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App My bariatric team gave me this when I attended the 4 hour nutrition class. Ask your team of they can provide a card for you. Personally, I never thought of using it like an AAA discount card???? Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

He's bought cars, right? They're about the same price as the surgery. Cars only last 10 to 15 years before they're more trouble than what they're worth. Look at your surgery as an investment on your life. You will gain an extra 15-20 years and the quality of your life will be much better too. What is a better investment? A car that you will eventually get rid of at a great monetary loss or an extension of your life plus an increase in quality? I understand that it put you in debt, but it will be worth it. I hope my perception will help your argument with your husband. He wants you to live a longer and better life, right? Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App

Mine itched really bad too - about a week out. The itch was insane! I was afraid of infecting the incisions if I put anything on it. So, when I couldn't stand it anymore, I would rub belly to relieve the itch and then I tuck in my shirt to reduce it from itching my incisions. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App

I agree with Vinasu. I told my immediate family about the surgery and that's it. My mom, on the other hand, is telling everybody. She doesn't get why I would keep this to myself. She's never suffered the stigma of being obese. She also shares with everybody that she's a diabetic. Pre-op, I would go to lunch with her and the waiter/waitress would ask us if we want bread or dessert after the meal. My mom would reply "I can't. I have diabetes." I told her that you can just say "no, thank you" and that's it. They don't have to know your condition. Sometimes I think she wears her disease like a badge and she doen't get why I wouldn't do the same.

The first week after wls I tasted a hint of the smell of 2 week old roadkill in the Premier Protein shakes. I'm 3 weeks out now and the bad taste is getting worse. Has anyone else have a similar experience? Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App

I agree with un.be.sleevable. The tv commercials will get you! Since I had my wls, it seems as if every other commercial is an ad for fast/junk food. Netflix has helped me with my unhealthy cravings. No more regular tv for me unless it's the local news. And it helps it give the tv the finger when one of those commercials come on. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App

As with the abdominal gas. I always imagine the surgeon could help us out a bit by puttting in large "straws" in our laproscopic incisions and squeeze us like a bagpipe after the surgery. LOL. The pain will go away, but I still feel for you!

I'm gonna try and make some crab cakes and just omit the bread crumbs or crackers. Sent from my SPH-D710VMUB using the BariatricPal App

Anybody else on liquids only for tomorrow (Thanksgiving)?
111 replied to Rachel412's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
A little over 1 week out too. I'll be on liquids for 4 weeks. I'll be having Protein chicken broth for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I look at it this way: I'm sacrificing one holiday season (food wise) to have many more than what I would have if I did not go through with the surgery.
