not being nosey (well, I guess a little) but why did you have to have two surgeries? Were there complications? If you don't mind sharing, I anxiously await your reply.

a gross topic it is, BUT I typed in diarrhea in the SEARCH ENGINE when I was at your stage. I have now been banded for 3 1/2 weeks & am on the OTHER end of the spectrum. I sometimes, sad to say, WISH I had diarrhea!!! All jokes aside, diarrhea is NO FUN, but I had it when I was still on liquids only. LIQUIDS IN LIQUIDS OUT. If it is UNBEARABLE or uncomfortable, I would call my surgeon & ask him for suggestions.

During my preop diet, I lost 15 lbs. However, since my surgery (4/23) I have only lost about 10 lbs. When I first came home from the hospital after my surgery I WEIGHED 5 LBS MORE THAN I did when I stepped on the scale an hour before my surgery!!! Depressing. My post op exam is set for 6/19 & I am really hoping to lose a bunch more weight before then. Keep me in your prayers!!!!

Yep, I asked them in preop if I had to take EVERYTHING OFF, & the nurse who was as SWEET as she could be, sighed & nodded her head YES. I'm sure you're surgeon has seen his share of NAKED FAT PEOPLE. You'll be FINE.

first few days of mushies I was reallly good with the measuring cup, but now 1 week in, I don't measure anything, but still can't eat very much.

how does a baked potato with fat free or low fat cheese, bacon bits, & FAT FREE OR LOW FAT Ranch Dressing sound to you. YUM YUM

While every surgeon & every person is different, my surgeon told me when I was released the day after surgery that PAIN PILLS & MULTIVITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS were the only "bits" to be taken by mouth.

At first, when I was contemplating the decision, I thought of it best to tell a limited # of FAMILY & FRIENDS. However, when my insurance approved it, I was so excited. So then, keeping my surgery plans a secret was about like being ENGAGED & not telling everybody OR (my personal favorite) being pregnant with my kids & not telling everybody. I'm too spirited for my own good & have trouble containing myself!!

tomato soup was my personal favorite. of course, now I am on mushies & LOVING IT. Actually, you can eat pretty much any soup if you blenderize it FIRST. Campbell's 98% Fat Free Broccoli & Cheese soup is YUMMY!!!

IT'S BAD TO SAY, but me have bronchitis two weeks before surgery was actually helped me to be PRETTY RIGID with the PRE-OP DIET. However, I did cheat a few times. Bad example, huh?

funny you should ask. My mom is in town visiting & I have been on mushies for a few days now. We went to applebees & I have a loaded baked potato. She had creamed spinach chips & dip. Hers was an appetizer. I had some of her spinach with my potato & of course took off some of the bacon bits. SOOOOO GOOOOOD!! You might enjoy that too. I don't know what kinda cravings you are having these days. Enjoy!!!

So, is this 20 lbs, JUST SINCE your BAND DATE? Or did you lose some before your surgery?

It is (Vanilla Flavored) 100% WHEY PROTEIN. It also comes in PLAIN, CHOCOLATE, & maybe? strawberry? I am not sure. Vanilla is a pretty good choice because it BLENDS WELL with about any flavor yogurt you may mix with it.

Honey, relax! What you are going through is VERY NORMAL. I was very nervous, but then just a few short days beforehand, I really calmed down & was VERY EXCITED. You will be fine. I am now 13 days post-op & I feel wonderful. You will too. I don't know where you live or who your surgeon is, but the hospital staff where I went were absolutely WONDERFUL. I live in KY. I'll pray for you that God will give you PEACE & a CALM SPIRIT. All of us who are BANDED, went through the same thing you are now. hugs & prayers coltorismom

Do any of you have trouble with the not drinkiing during a meal? Waiting until after?

I am now 11 days post op & I went to church today. Everyone came up to me & commented on the fact that I had lost weight. I feel really good. Only one sensitivity where my port is. This is the norm. Most people say their port area is the most sensitive. The other incisions have COMPLETELY healed. I start on mushies on Wednesday. New step in the journey.

welcome, aboard future bandster!! I purchase my Protein at Wal-mart. I get the 100% whey protein. I've got both the chocolate & vanilla flavored. Another yummy is from a company called unjury which you can order online. strawberry sorbet is the flavor I ordered. I don't know if you have yet to meet with your dietician/nutrition @ your bariatric center, BUT when I met with my dietician she gave me a SAMPLE PACKET of UNJURY (strawberry sorbet). That's how I knew what flavor to order. You'll enjoy your Protein drinks. It's the closest thing to dessert you'll find for awhile. I started drinking 1 protein drink a day LONG before my surgery because it helped cure my sweet tooth! My prayers are with you!! I was just banded on April 23, so I am kinda new too.

yes, i was just banded on 4/23 by dr geller. he is wonderful. he is very prompt in returniing phone calls, which means A LOT. So, what's your success story?

i have no idea when you were banded or at least I didn't notice. Don't you love him? Have you had great success with your band. I just got the REALIZE BAND on 4/23. i am still liquids, but will be pursuing the WONDERFUL MUSHIE AVENUE pretty soon. Do you go to support group? type back soon coltorismom
