BJ I have to tell you this chew 32 times is not easy. Nor is waiting between bites, But I'm trying. I wrote on my hand "chew slow" so maybe I'll remember each time i try to eat
-
SMsmith, what brand of sugar fat free ice cream are you talking about? Thanks
-
You know girls, I've been digging deep since my ice cream horror episode and to try to see if I need an unfil. I think the problem might be that I don't chew my food enough or slow enough so I bring it back up to get rid of the chest pain. I saw a nutritionist today who agrees that this might be the main problem, among other issues. I am willing to work on my chewing and eating, but can anyone tell me HOW!!!!! I never ate slow or took small bites in my life and as much as I think I'm eating morsels and slow, I think I can do better. I find that I'm on automatic pilot when it comes to food and old habits are hard to change. I need to try this though before I go in for an unfil. Maybe I'm just not working my Lapband right. I realized today that the lapband is like any other "diet"., There are rules and restriction you must follow - just like weight watchers to lose weight. I guess I thought it would be like easy, I'd just eat less than what I did normally and the weight would come off. But if you can't even really eat this is a problem. Can anyone give me support with this????Thanks

Bandana replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jodi_620, You Goooooooooooo! Girl. I was stunned when I realized how much weight you have lost in only a few months. I started at the same weight and a year later I didn't reach what you did. You are definitely doing something right. I wanted to contact you and talk but I don't know how to do that. Could you respond to me and send me a message. I am so happy for you. You must feel and look like a whole new woman. Congratulations and I know you will definitely meet your goal weight. -
Valentine's Day Weight Loss Challenge
Bandana replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks crztchr. My start weight was 250, my current weight is 165 and I want to lost 5lbs by Valentine's Day so my goal is 160. I'd be really happy with this. Just to know it's still coming off. I've been at a plateau for 2 months. -
BJean I really liked your post. You explain it so perfectly what we go through. I'm going to work on the 32 chews. Thanks.
-
I think it's about 5 days now without ice cream, but I have to confess I had cookies and a couple bites of cake. I hope this isn't my new replacement. I wish I could replace it with exercise

Hi Everyone You sound like a nice bunch of gals. Mind if I join in? I'm a January Bandster but of '08. I need support and motivation because my scale is stuck - maybe it's broke - who knows. Anyways, eating the right thing can be very challenging and exercise is nonexistant. Eating in general is hard with this band. I'm not complaining but chewing and taking small bites is very hard for me. I'm used to shoveling it in and when I'm hungary I eat too fast. Thanks for listening. Hope to hear from you guys.

GB Your plan of action sounds great. I need some motivation. Thanks. Wow you lost so much weight in a year. Happy Banderversary. Keep up the great work

Is Discomfort While Eating Just Part of the Package?
Bandana replied to SB0233's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been really working on cutting out the ice cream and have been sucessful for about 3 days now. I find that I am eating more food at times. Most of the time a couple of bites here and a couple of bites there with no major restriction (just a hiccup or a feeling to stop) Anyway, I am giong to try to stick better to chewing so I can get more food down . then if I don't see an improvement in the pain issue I'll go in for an unfil. Thanks -
Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
Bandana replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I jjust wanted to put out ther that Prevacid makes a soluable tablet that disolves on your tongue for acid reflux. It's prescription only. Maybe that could help someone -
My doctor does not use the fluro. He said "if you know what your're doing you don't need it" ha ha. It sounds like people who get the fluro get a better handle on getting to the best sweet spot possible. WEll he doesn't do them so I have to get him to do smaller fills and/or unfills as needed. Or I have to try one of the other doctors in his practice which is what I think I will do. thanks for the support

Littlefrog - I t5ried the frozen applesauce and it wasn't bad. Thanks. I think this will help me for something soothing when and if the time comes again. (probably will). Today is 4 days I'm off ice cream and eating more food. I hope my energy level picks up because I'm so tired and I thought this was because of all the sugar from the icecream. WEll we'll see. Organdaisy Did you have to do a lot of exercise to get to your goal in 16 months??? I hate exercise. What about everyone else.

Your right I should be drinking warm things but my chest hurts after eating and I can't get a liquid in or it will be worse. For some reason the ice cream works. But i'm working on my third day without ice cream. I really think talking to you girls on this site has helped. I made an appointment with a nutritionist for later this week and will schedule an appointment with doc following that if I can't get eating nutritious foods down. I think this will be hard because I think I'm chewing good. Anyway, Kat does TT mean what I think it is. Let me know and so much luck to you.

Is Discomfort While Eating Just Part of the Package?
Bandana replied to SB0233's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know what you mean about wanting to just eat something the old way and enjoy it. I loved eating and stuffing myself, but I also love tha fact that I never would have lost 80 pounds without the band. I just need to find a waY TO be more comfortable when I eat. If that means an unfill I guess I'll have to really consider that. -
POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
Bandana replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went to my doctor almost every 2 weeks for a fill when I felt no restriction and he accommodated me. -
Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
Bandana replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Morning, I recently heard of a new surgical procedure done for acid reflux through the throat. My doctor in New Jersey does it. I don't know the name but I'll try to find out for you. -
Two Good Dogs I don't have ice cream in the house and I didn't eat any today or yesterday. I have to take one day at a time to get it out of my system. I think all the sugar also made me very tired and lethargic, maybe it's not getting enough proptein the rest of the day. it's hard for me to eat until dinner. I'm going to try freezing the protein shakes. Thanks
-
Hey everyone, Kat I know you're right about getting an unfill but the problem is my doctor does not inidividualize them. He tends to take .50 or 1cc increments and I've asked for smaller fills or defills like .10 and he doesn't do it that way. So I'm either too tight or too lose. I want to try another doctor in the practice but feel funny to go to someone else after a year and also they might not do small increments either. And I am assertive with the doctor, believe me. Anyway, no ice cream for me today. A real hurray!!! talk to you soon.
-
I just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and good wishes on their anniversay. I'm working real hard to stay away from the icecream and can only take one day at a time. Today i was able to eat protein so I think that helps. Talk to you soon.
-
kat, good luck with your fill this week. I know what you mean. I tried to get protein in with shakes and drinks but it got sickening after a while. so did the protein bars. Funny enough protein bars went down with no problem. So far today no icecream. Does anyone know about not getting enough protein does it thin your hair/ Thanks

Hi Banfun4me I was interested to hear that you give yourself 30 minutes to eat a meal. It takes me much q1uicker than that. I'm usually finished after 3-4 bites and then I get hiccups and chest restriction. Sometimes I th ink I eat too fast but I do think I'm chewing till it's grindedl. I don't know. How do you work this 30 minutes for a meal?
-
Does anyone here get small adjustments like .10cc's. My doctor only seems to do in .50 increments and I feel like I need smaller adjustments to get to my sweet spot. I'm having real trouble finding the right space.
