thank you so much for your wisdom. I've read chapter one of the 12 x 12 OA book and I know I'm powerless over food. I'm a food addict. It's just giong to be hard going to meetings, dealing with the good and bad days of the lap band and trying to fit in exercise (if I get my butt to the gym). It's all so much to do. Why can't life just be simple and I be a normal eater

Available Lap Band Buddy / Mentor I'm here to help
Bandana replied to mumof2boys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Thanks for the cuddos.. I too have been eating more and I was banded 2 weeks before you. I've joined overeaters anonymous beczause my relationship with food is that I'm addicted. Even though I got the band, I still have issues like sabotoging myself and eating too much. Yesterday was an eating day , and although I loved the food, the whole thing about being able to eat that much with the band is scary. I could gain my weight back. Oh no, I'm scared. Yes I'd like to be a budy, I can really use it also. -

Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?
Bandana replied to Dreamjeans's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read all the recent posts and have to say that I only told a few select people, then a few more select peole who are told to keep it to themselves. I didn't want anyone to know because they'd think I'm weak andcouldn't do it on my own. I didn't want anyone watching what I eat, or commenting on my eating habits, or giving me grief, or looking at how much weight I lost. But I have to tell you that I am 16 months out and it's getting more and more uncomfortable for me. First I said I was doing Protein shakes to lose the weight, eatomg small meals, then I added exercise (which I don't do much), then I went to saying I took diet pills as more and more people were asking and wanting to know how I lost the weight and so fast. My point is I feel like a liar at this time. I'm really uncomfortable saying I took diet pills, people see how fast I've lost and have probably come to their own conclusion anyway. But now, I feel that I have to watch what I say all the time and lie, lie, lie. It makes my band seem shameful to me, as I thought others would feel about me if I told them about the lapband when I did it. I'm thinking about telling people now, but can you imagine what they'd think of me for lying to them for 16 months and then coming out with the truth. I'm not a liar by nature. All I want to say is think about what it will be like in the longterm. I know you'll make the right decision,. Good luck to all those who have their date coming up. It's a great tool and you will probably be happy you did it just lik me. -

I just spent time looking at the chat room and I don't see any option for starting a new group. Can anyone else find other information about this. Anyway, what do you think about meeting in the Chat room Wednesday night? -
I'm in Morganville. I don't know where union county, but I'm in Monmouth county. I know all about sabatoging myself. I am looking into trying to find a therapist who deals with weight issues, It's time to make those healthy food choices - I'm rooting for you.

Lisa I feel for you having to take liquid our of your band. Keep reading posts to give you support during this hard time Caryn

I went to my third OA meeting and so far each one was different. I will go to the Literature meeting tomorrow. I'm trying to help myself, but I'm not yet sure if it's going to help me. Does anyone remember their first meeting and do you eventually get into it, or how does these steps help the overeater. Thanks

Help please! Nightime eating out of control

Hi to all I can't believe it. I just wrote up this long post to everyone and then somehow I pressed something and I lost my post. I like the idea of the chat room, could we start our own for nightime munchers? or do we have to enter into the one already going on? Or we could get that big gorilla to stop us. My teepee is my pantry. Thanks for all the suggestions you made. I think I'll go for that walk after dinner once it gets warmer here. I was still wearing my winter coat today. Burrr How are we going to handle this big HOLIDAY WEEKEND. Any ideas when everyone else is eating all the "great food" and we need to "diet". I also understand starving all day (or having bad restriction) and making up for it in the evening. Bad habit but if I would get an fill it may be more trouble than it's worth, but maybe not. I am thinking about it. Last night I ate 3/4 box of cereal. I keept wondering, while I devoured the cereal, where is it all going, where is my lapband Good4me - how did you fill go today? Did he add alot. Let us know how you are feeling. are you on liquids? WElll goodnight everyone. I hope to go to sleep on an empty stomach and maybe lose a lb tomorrow. wouoldn't that be nice. I see now where my origional post went. Forgive me for being repetive. Talk to you tomorrow -

Hi girls and guy, How is everyone tonight. Has the bewitching hour started. It has for me but so far I'm safe. I ate dinner at 8pm, eastern time, and maybe that will last longer for me. It's 11:20 now and I feel like I'm getting ready to attack. Becky - I like you're idea of going into a chat room. I thought maybe we cvould instant message but chat room would be better. I don't think you can instant message - does anyone know about this? Also does anyone know if we could start our own chat room for nightime eaters, or do we have to enter the one that already is going on??? Starting our own would be my first preference so we could all get to know each other. CATHY why are you a parrothead? is that a nickname? Anyay I do eat when I'm sitting and watching t.v. I like the idea of a walk after dinner but it's still kind of cool here. Hope the weather is warm for this weekend. OH NO - WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO THIS LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IS EATING THE GOOD STUFF (you know the really bad stuff for us banders) Good4me I also graze all night due to head hunger and sometimes I am hungary. I ate 3/4 of a box of honeynut cheerios last night, among other things. I was really wondering why so much was giong down (where was my lapband?) Mech I saw you on another site and I have to say again your weight loss is awsome. Hooray for you. I don't have "bad" food in the house right now. Buty I could still go to down and chow down on the 'good" food (popcorn, Peanut Butter, Cereal. I keep going to may pantry. Thainking about getting some kind of lock on the door, LOL, no really Libby - I tried the ww ice creams and they are delicious but I couldn't eat just one, I was up to 3 in a night, and then went for the regular icecream. So for me I really can't trust myself with the ice cream. Kristy -I know exactly what uyour talking about. Starving during the day because of restriction, and the band loosens at night , get ready - time to binge. Hi to Claudin, erinshel and Jennifer. Glad your here with us. WE all have to support each other. -
I'm in. Sounds great like a little NJ support group. Tell me where and when
-
I'm also toying with the idea of another fil. I'm hungary it seems all day long. I am able to control it mostly during the day but the night time gets me eating. I don't know if I eat because I ate minimal during the day or because of head hunger. Do you find this that you eat more at night when you don't eat much durig the day. I eat at night and somehow feel I;m entitled to eat because of the less eating during the day.
-
Scrappy Thank you. I'd love to. I have Yahoo, but what is Yahoo messenger. Is it IM (Instant Messaging while on line?) Unfortunatley I'm a computer illilerate Your right though, I should by some fruit for the nightime. Thanks. Let me know about the Yahoo thing Caryn

Help please! Nightime eating out of control
Bandana replied to Bandana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Girls I'm so glad we found each other. I think we really need each other for support, even if we don't have all the answers. We could help each other figure out the answers together. That's why I started this thread. Cathy when you walk at night does it make you more hungary? Ive heard exercise gives you an appetite. what if we met here at the witching hour on line each night before the head hunger kicks in for the night. For me it starts about 9pm. When does it start for you girls. I really look forward to us being there for each other. Caryn -
I have to be honest, even though I go on the scale so much and when I see I go up .2 of a lb (could you believe I look at this small increment), it doesn't make me work harder. I still do my nightime eating like the pig I was before the band. I've gained weight and Ihave been trying to control this (but not doing so good with this) Thinking about a small fill. last night I ate 3/4 of a box of cereal HOW COULD SOMEONE WITH A BAND EAT SO MUCH. and at other times I still regurgitate food. I can't figutre this thing out. The only thing I know for sure is that I still live, eat and breath food.

Weigh in... how much have u lost?
Bandana replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulation 100 lbs is alot of work with this lapband. Great job. You're an inspiration. -
I totally understand being too restricted or too loose. I have the same problem. I also know it can be very frustrating. Maybe you should focus on goals other than weight like - fitting into a smaller size - huh, maybe: I;m trying to focus now on minigoals like only 5lbs at a time . Maybe this will motivate me rather than looking at the lbs to lose to get to goal. I'm just focusing on that larger goal of 30lbs and nothing is happening. Hang in there. We understand.
-
Congratulations for reaching your goals. I commend you Enjoy it. let us know what your next goal so I can root for you
-
I'm rooting for us and everyone here. I can't wait to hear you're in the red suit. Everyone is different, but my scale makes me nuts. I go on every morning and then sometimes 2x a day. I;m thinking I should do like you, only weight in at the doctors. But I'm so neurotic about it now I doubt I could hold out. I;m also in New Jersey.
-
Scrappy I could say "ditto" to most of the things you say. I'm also obsessed by the food, thinking about it, chewing it, eating it, regurgitating it, trying to eat again, going on the scale 1-2x a day. I was never ever to really diet before the band also. But I don't exervise like you. I'm trying. Don't worry about the weight gain because from the looks of it you'll get it right down again with the way you structure yourself . I wish I would stop at 1.000 calories. and you are below your goal. that is so amazing. I have a very big problem with nightime eating. I feel like I'm binging all night. The food seems to go down much easier at night, and I usually watch tv by myself when I eat. Sometimes it's really fattening food like ice cream and Peanut Butter, and sometimes it's low calorie but then I eat large quantities. I am really annoyed and frustrated with myself. I just don't think about my struggles and just eat - like a magnet without stopping to think. Oh well, I have to learn to change this somehow. And Christine, I am trying to chew beter. Thanks
-
Hey Scrappy I am floored by how much weight you hjave lost in 15 months. Woo Hoo!. I have to know what you did. You are mindblowing. I've been trying to get these last 25 lbs off for months now. Really I applaud you so much;. Way to go girl. Congratulations I'm so excited for you about the tummy tuck. I hope it all goes well for you. Good luck. Don't forget to let me know your secret. Caryn

Band too tight? -OR- Eating too fast?
Bandana replied to nothingcomesez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went one time and did not mention my WLS so I don't know. My sister who had gastric said they aren't too happy with WLS people. But I'm going again today and we'll see. I'll let you know. -
How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Bandana replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think most of us here have the bottomless pit of a stomach. You're not along. -
I remember when I was at 79 lbs down. It is a big accomplishment, Hang in there. I'm in for the 10 lbs by July 10. Do you have something special then?

Band too tight? -OR- Eating too fast?
Bandana replied to nothingcomesez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon has a support group 1x a month, and sometimes I can't make it. I don't know of any other lapband groups only around my area. Maybe I should stay for the gastric bypass support group but their both the same night, so still only once a month. Today I had a good day. A good day is still full of resriction for me. I regurgitate the potatoe chips I ate. I sabotoge myself all the time. Now it's tv time and time to relax, and that is the worst. I tend to graze all night. I'm thinking of using a sleeping pill to put me to befd so I don't eat. I plan on going to another OA meeting tomorrow. I know I need to pay more attention to my chewing and eating slow. Thanks I;m glad your feeling better with the unfil and I'm rooting for you that tomorrow the scale is good to you. I weigh myself every day, sometimes 2x a dfay. Not that this really helps when I just eat with no control. I see the scale go up and then down, up and then down. What fun it is LOL. My goal is to get into Xlarge tops. Their still tight and the 1x is too big. That's all I want , is to be able to go into any store and have the top fit me. Shaunni, I get the hiccups also. Usually around 6 or 7 of them. It's my signal to stop. Good luck at the doctor. Let us know.
