Or working for a school district? Asking bc you said you are off all summer.. You have a bit of time ahead of you as well. Have decided on which of the procedure you want? I'm still on the fence.. one day sleeve another bypass. Smh probably decide once I meet with the surgeon.. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App I am apre-school teacher in a private school. I am definitely going for the sleeve. I don't want the bypass. I have read great things about the sleeve!! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Would you do it again?

I am so happy for you. I hope I have the same experience. I am still a ling way off (June 2017) I'm not sure if that's a good thing(since I can do alot of research and prepare) or a bad thing(because I can hear about the "nrgatives") but your story makes me feel better! Keep up the great work! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Would you do it again?

I heard that after a while, you WILL be able to chug water again. I haven't had surgery yet, but I have heard tgat the pain goes away and that things do get better. I am 44, and I feel like if I wait any longer, it will be too late for me. I'm ready to start living my life. I haven't "lived" yet. My weight has taken everything away from me and I want it back! I want my confidance and energy back. I want to run and play with my nieces, I want to play softball again. I want to find someone to spend the rest of my life with, and right now, at this weight (270) I don't see ANY of that happening. I hope things get better for you. Purée

I have been keeping a notebook for all of my questions. I was told that I will have 3 appts with a nutritionist. I can have 3 visits covered by my health ins, so I will probably save those for after my surgery. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I'm writing all of this down. I'm going to need ideas. I was also wondering, I have read where people said that after the sleeve, they no longer liked foods they liked before. Have you ever heard of people LIKING things they DIDN'T like before? Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Ok. I hope the nutritionist teaches me all about this before my surgery. It just seems like so much to learn! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I'll def be careful to make sure I find a brand with no added sugar. Thank you so much. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Purée

Ugh. Thank you. I think the thought of it makes it worse for me. I'm SURE it will be fine. Does food ALWAYS need to be juicy? Or just in the first couple of months? I like turkey lunchmeat, but I like the "dryer" brands, is that something I couldn't eat anymore? Or would I add turkry gravy to it? Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

When you say puree....into baby food consistency? Or thicker/thinner? Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Purée

No, not at all. I'm probably going to gag on it anyway lol. Do/did you puree chili? I do like chili. I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and eat it lol. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Purée

I am/was planning on eating baby food during the pureed stage, because I am a HORRIBLE eater. I don't eat any veggies and BARELY ANY meat(chicken, turkey and a LITTLE beef) I just don't know if I can eat them pureed. I figured that since I need to leatn how to eat foods like a would, it would be good. I'm very excited about having my surgery, but I worry that such a bad eater as myself can't succeed. I messed up

I'm not having surgery until June, but I'm so afraid of "slipping". I know.ot happens, and we shouldn't feel ashamed. Just go right back to your liquid diet and don't beat yourself up! Good luck! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    I chickened out

I'm nervous about surgery also, but as far as being sick all the time, I asked a question on here "would you do it again"? EVERY response I got said yes! VERY few said they were ever sick, and the ones that did, said it was very minimal (I have a huge phobia of vomiting) I feel much better now about it. Good luck! You'll do it when you are ready. Pissing off my boss

I am putting my surgery off until June 2017 because I KNOW I'd have a huge problem with my boss. I work in a school, so at least I have the Summer to get used to all of the changes. I just wish I could start the journey. You could always call your hr person and see what she thinks. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Would you do it again?

I have to lose around 130lbs (I think. I'm not sure what the dr will say) I hope I look as good as you do! Did you have any problem with excess skin? I'm mostly worried about my belly and bat wings. I lost 108lbs before, and i really didn't notice my upper arms looking much different, and my legs got very muscular. I HATE my upper arms! Would you do it again?

@ Sara Crowley - Actually, restaurants with my wife were easier because I was in control and no one bugged me to either "try something" or asking me why I wasn't eating. The challenge came in events with friends and/or family -- those I avoided as long as possible... I didn't post the social post. But I do understand what you are sayingLol i still dont know how to respond to peoples posts! I've only been on here for a couple of days. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I can't wait!!!! I have not heard 1 person say they wouldn't do it again. And not many people threw up. Maybe I'll be lucky too! Congratulations! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Would you do it again?

Hi Cape Crooner - great post. One question - when you say drop out of any or all social events - do you mean forever or just in the losing phase? I'm a very social person, especially love hanging out with my girlfriends, so not sure what to think of that advice! As for who to tell - if I can pull it off, only my husband will know I've had WLS. Only my doctors, husband, and my parents who were my support team the week of surgery (he was working then) know that I've had WLS, and I don't have any plans to disclose it to anyone else. It's had no adverse impact on my social life. At most social events people are so focused on socializing they're not as attentive to what you're eating. I like in LA and a lot of people are weight conscious, so it's normal to see light eaters. Even at dinner parties people have rarely commented. Once I was into the solid food phase there wasn't much I couldn't eat, so I just was mindful about what I chose and portion size. I've never felt like I was lying to friends and others who've asked me about how I've lost weight. I tell the truth - I track my calories, I bought a bike that I use as much as possible rather than driving, and I've changed some of the medicine I was taking for my thyroid issues. No one else is entitled to know the full details of my personal medical history. That answer has been totally sufficient for everyone. I've only told my immediate family and 2 closest friends that I will be having surgery. I don't feel that it's anyone's business. My family keeps, saying that it's nothing to be ashamed of, and I agree. I just don't want people that I'm not close to to know my business. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

I am planning on staying away from restaurants as much as possible until I am comfortable with knowing what I can and can't eat/tolerate. I think my friends and family will be supportive and understanding enough that they will be willing to do things for us to get together that wouldn't involve food. The meal planning will be hard, I am starting the research now (10 months early) I decided to only tell my immediately family and 2 closest friends, but I have a feeling it's NOT going to stay in that circle. (Italians like to "talk") lol I've already made the decision to avoud food centered activities. I am very excited....and a little nervous to have this surgery.
