A scary thing happened today...

It's so nice to know there are people out there that REALLY understand what I'm going through. Thank you! And good luck to you also! -

char3672 replied to GMen88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having my surgery in June, and I am also scared. I always worry so much about everything, and then, when its over, I realize it wasn't too bad. Good luck, and please let us know how you do! -
I ordered the Jay Robb protein powder, it's THE BEST tasting one I have tried! Tastes exactly like chocolate milk!

Am I losing too quickly?

Ear disease???? -
Thank you for your kind words. I can't wait to be on the loser's bench! I know it will all be worth it. I always get myself all worked up about things and then, after they're over I feel stupid for worrying so much. Did you have the sleeve? How are you doing?
-
This is EXACTLY how I feel. Although I HAVE had surgeries before they were minor (carple tunnel and other hand surgeries) I am VERY afraid of the surgery and possible complications more than anything else. I really think everything will be ok. I tend to worry about things needlessly. Good luck!!!

Hi. I am having my sleeve done in June, I was just wondering how long was everyone (that had the sleeve) in surgery?
-
Thank ypu everyone! 2 hours seems to be average. I'm a little weird, I seem to feel ok with 2 hrs, but anything longer makes me nervous. This is going to be my first "major" surgery. I have only had hand surgeries in the past, so.I'm extra nervous.

Hi. I am scheduled for sleeve surgery in June. I am pretty sure that I am going to NEED a nutritionist after my surgery. One that is experienced in bariatric surgery patients. I have been seeing one at the hospital where my surgery will be done, but I am not sure she is right for me. How would I go about finding someone? I tried googling it, but I only seem to be coming up with nuts from other surgical programs. Would they take an "outside" patient?

Finding a nutritionist

Maybe after surgery I'll see that I CAN do it myself. Maybe it's just my lack of confidance. I'm always afraid I'm doing things wrong. I DON'T want to fail at this!!!! -

I'll do that. Thank you. I just don't feel that the one I have at the hospital is knowledgeable enough. Ex. She didn't know what an example of a "hard" cheese would be. -
Hi. I am having the sleeve done in June, I have been SOOO EXCITED...up until lately. Now, I'm getting REALLY nervous. My family has bee n extremely supportive, but recently, they have been telling me they are concerned that I won't be able to stay on a new "diet". I pretty much ONLY eat carbs. I have lost 100+lbs before, but gained it back. My question is, did anyone else out there have the kind of diet before surgery that I have now? In my mibd I am COMPLETELY DEDICATED to being successful, but I'm scared.

I haven't had my surgery yet. I am having my sleeve done in June. Did you have a sleeve? Or bypass? How are you doing? I'm so afraid of complications.

Thank you for your advice. I am definitely going to try the things you suggested. It's a LITTLE hard while I'm at work because we are a nut free school, so that somewhat limits my snack choiced, but there are definitely some things I can use as substitutes for my bars. I do eat Greek yogurt, what brand do you prefer? Thank you again!!!!
-
I HAVE made small changes. I no longer drink soda (I used to drink diet coke) I have started drinking Raspberry iced tea, and mixing it with 1/2 water. I have cut down my serving sizes. But, carbs STILL make up about 90% of my diet. I am going to have to find alternatives to them. Like, what to eat for breakfast? I eat 2 waffles everyday. Am snack, a cereal bar or granola bar. Lunch, string cheese, greek yogurt and a blueberry bagel. Dinner...thats my biggest problem....pizza,pasta,cereal,sandwiches etc. I am going to research things that are low carb, and start the changes right away!!!
-
I DEFINITELY have a carb addiction. It became completely clear to me last night when I ACTUALLY got upset because dinner plans were changed from pizza to chicken! I only have less than 2 months until my surgery, how do you suggest I beat the addiction? I better get started soon! Thank you!

I definitely plan on working out often. I lost 110lbs before with just diet and exercise, but I just don't feel like I can do it again on my own. What kind of workouts do you do? I used to do 45min cardio and weights alternating arms and legs each day. -
Is it ok to drink diet iced tea? I love raspberry Iced tea, it was my go to drink when I stopped drinking diet coke. I am having my sleeve surgery in June but if I won't be able to drink the diet iced tea, I'll give it up now!

I KNOW I will do ok after, I just worry so much. I am so ready to make the changes and I'm so sick of the aches and pains. I am up to 275. Im hoping to lose at least 120-140lbs.
