elliekay got a reaction from sweesee in 6 months! -95lbs and 73% to goal!
Hello everyone! Sorry for the undies but wanted to drop a progress pic to Celebrate my 6 month surgiversary!

(the plan was to wear the same clothes but the bra is too big to stay on anymore... I'm not complaining haha)
    5'11"
    HW: 300.0 (3/29/16)
    SW: 278.4 (8/1/16)
    CW: 204.5 (2/1/17)
    GW: 170
Down 95.5 total, 73.9 since surgery

I was hoping I'd hit 100lbs lost/onederland by 6 months but I've been in what hopefully is just a stall for the past 3 weeks... the holidays were a struggle and I think that belatedly set me back a bit but I'm back on track so should see it moving again soon
As for actual measurements, I forgot to take them at my highest weight or surgery weight so my first set of measurements is from 8/25 (262lbs) but I've lost at least 6in from the smallest part of my waist, 5 from my navel, 7 from my hips, and then 2-4 inches everywhere else.
Still struggling to consistently get enough Protein and avoiding carbs but it's a work in progress!
Here's to losing the last 35lbs (or more!) before my 1 year surgiversary

I've been running into this issue a lot lately... it kind of grosses me out how much nicer people are now that I'm smaller (and I'm still big--probably a 14 or 16 in pants) but at least with most people it's subtle. I saw a guy I went to high school with a couple weeks ago and he had the gall to say something along the lines of, "You had a cool personality before but now you're hot so you're actually worth talking to now." I've never been nearly as hurt by anything anyone said to me at my fattest as I was by that. Stuff like that makes it hard for me to feel great talking to new people--I'm always wondering if they would be talking to me the same way if I was still 300lbs. I dunno. It's a weird, unique experience and I think it's ok to be bitter/upset about it.

I've more or less been comfortable being overweight my whole adult life, around 220 at 5'2". I've been fortunate to "carry well" and not have any other medical complications due to being obese. I went up to 250, then 270 last year. I'll be 40 in a few weeks and I could feel my body just giving up on me. My limbs get numb, I can't sleep, cant breathe, can't bend over, huff & puff going up the stairs of my house. I failed at all my efforts for healthy eating and I exercising.
Then one day my darling 5 year old son and I were cuddling. He hugs me, grabs my back fat roll & ask me straight up, "why are you so fat?" And I knew I REALLY had to do something. I cried.
Next thing I know a coworker confided in me she went to Mexico for surgery. I had considered gastric bypass about 10 years ago after a childhood friend got it, but it felt too extreme. This seemed doable. I did the research. I got the money, and now I'm headed to Tijuana on 2/17.

I saw a sleever on instagram and it just kind of snowballed from there; prior to that the only WLS I knew about was lapband and I had heard horror stories about it so I had never even considered it but after that I spent a few months researching it and lurking forums and obsessing over the before and after pics. I think my final consideration that pushed me over the edge was some stupid thought like, "I wanna look good for a wedding someday" I was about 275-280 so I had about 100lbs to lose and I purposefully gained 20lbs for the sake of qualifying for insurance coverage... counterproductive but I'm now at the lowest weight I can EVER remember being (even when I was a preteen!) and 5lbs away from onederland. Worth it.
I chose sleeve in particular because from what I had researched it sounded a lot safer, and I didn't want to worry about dumping syndrome. My surgeon tried convincing me to get bypass by telling me, "There may be a day where you have to run out of an important interview because you're dumping, but it'll keep you from eating the wrong foods!" Yeah... no thanks haha. I'd rather run the risk of self-sabotage than run the risk of dumping interfering with my life.

I don't tell anyone unless I absolutely have to. My s/o doesn't even know--we met post-op so I didn't feel the need to tell him. He's noticed the weight loss but figures it's just because I'm working hard to lose weight (which I am!). I say I'm doing the Keto diet and exercising 3+ times a week... which isn't a lie, just omitting the part where I had surgery haha. I say I had acid reflux/hernia repair surgery if I need to explain that part--laparoscopic fundoplication leaves similar scars.
Make sure if you tell a story that you're consistent with it though; I've had the same coworker ask me on 4 separate occasions what I did, I think she's trying to catch me in a lie Soooo nosy.

My mom sent me these two pictures today--one she took at the hospital the morning of surgery, and one she took today to send to my aunt (who has also lost a great deal of weight). I can't believe how big of a difference it is at 3.5 months out! When I look in the mirror I feel like I look exactly the same as I did so it's nice to have progress pictures like this. I wish I had pictures like this of my highest weight lol.

    July 16th (2 weeks pre-op) to today (9 weeks post-op)
I think I was about 285 in the pre-op picture, hovering between 243-245 for the past few days. I don't see the progress on myself until I put it side by side like this.

    Surgery weight July 13th 2016 242.2lbs

My shoe size went back down from an 11 to a 10 which is very exciting for me!

I have some loose skin on my tummy, and under my arms, my butt and thighs are also kinda saggy, but I'm working on those now with some kettlebell workouts.
