Day 2 post op throwing up
sweitzer2148 replied to Ksinger522's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc prescribed anti nausea meds. They work immediately. -
My surgeon said I could have 1 cup of coffee or tea a day starting the day after surgery. I'm 10 weeks out and drink a cup of coffee a day with no problems.

Hi all! I was sleeved on 4/24/17. I am 51 yrs old and 5'4. Can't decide what my goal weight should be. Thoughts? HW-229 SW-216 CW-179 GW-?

What should my goal be?

Thanks for all the great advice!!! I'm thinking of setting a goal of 140 to start with and then go from there. -
6 months out and now having gallbladder removed!
sweitzer2148 replied to jayepea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon put me on Ursodiol-300mg 2x/day. It's a medication you take for a year after surgery to prevent gallstones and/or gallbladder sludge. I'm hoping it will work as she says. -
Have you tried GasX strips? That saved me the first 2 weeks. Good Luck and I hope you find a solution!

Sharp pain over my belly button
sweitzer2148 replied to up4challenge's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could you have an Umbilical Hernia? I have one that causes that kind of pain and my surgeon will be repairing it in about 6 months. I was sleeved on April 24th and she repaired my hiatal hernia but had to wait to repair the umbilical one. Just a thought. Hope you feel better soon! -

I was sleeved on 4/24 and have been on the soft foods diet for a week now. I walk everyday but really need to get to the gym and do some weights. HW-229 SW-216 Current-184 -
Hi fellow sleevers! I am finally on the other side and beginning a whole new chapter in this book of getting healthy. My surgery on the 24th was very uneventful as was my recovery. I was in the hospital for only one night. I'm not a rookie to surgeries as I have about 6 of them in the last 10 years. My last one before being sleeved was to remove 2 brain tumors and I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and almost a year recovering. This surgery, well, was a piece of cake. To back up a little, I only had to lose 8lbs. before surgery and I only had to be on a liquid diet the day before. Now, let me tell you if you're used to eating a lot(and I was) even one day of the liquid diet was not so fun (I feel for you if you had to do 2 weeks). Weighing in at the hospital I was 215lbs. My highest weight was 228 and now 7 days post op I am at 204. So far so good. I requested anti-nausea meds for pre-op, post-op and for home. Usually anesthesia and pain meds make me deathly ill and I wasn't up for that after abdominal surgery. So, with a patch below my ear and nausea meds through my IV I was ready for battle! Surgery took about an hour and 30 minutes. My surgeon had to also repair a hiatal hernia but that seems to be the norm. I was very fuzzy coming out of anesthesia and was like that the rest of the day. I did get up and walk a couple times and had some ice chips. But the best part was that I had absolutely no nausea which was a first for me after surgery! Super happy! I'm going to write more in another post. Time for a break.

Anyone sleevers in the Portland OR area?
sweitzer2148 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all! I live in Hillsboro which is part of the Portland Metro area. I'm just beginning this journey and hope to have my surgery scheduled in October. I have all the prerequisites done and am just waiting on my insurance letter of approval. Wondering if there was anyone out there from my area. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hi all, I'm 3 days post-op and my incisions are super itchy. Hoping this is normal. No rash or anything, just itchy.

COFFEE - How soon did you have it?
sweitzer2148 replied to Htown521's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every surgeon is different. Mine told me I could have 1 cup of caffeine (not carbonated) a day right away. I use my protein shake as a creamer and it's pretty good! Good luck to you! -
My doc said after 2 weeks post-op.

My doc said 3 weeks. I'm only 2 days post-op.

Not at all. They just wanted a BMI of 40 or 35 plus at least one co-morbidity.
