ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went for my three month check up the surgeon said that I haven't lost enough weight. That by now I should have lost 60-70 pounds three months post op. Has anyone else heard this? -

Losing weight to slow after gastric sleeve?
ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim replied to ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am following my diet exactly. I have never cheated even once. I was so blown away because I thought I was doing well. I exercise every single day. I thought it went by your starting weight. -
Hello everyone. I am 10 days post gastric sleeve. I am looking for post op food suggestions. Next week I get to start eating things like tuna, chicken or egg salad. Steamed veggies and soft fruits. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, I have been hearing alot about Wendys chili, does anyone else recommend it? Have you tried Wendys chili? Also, tomorrow I am supposed to start on some oatmeal, what was your experience with Quaker minute oatmeal? How about watermelon? I was suppose to start on a moist food diet Tuesday but, was to much of a chicken and today at the doctor they told me I really need to try it. Thank you all.

When Was Everyone Cleared for "Real" Food
ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim replied to ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also in Washington which I'm sure you noticed I was worried about my water intake because, after the 64 ounces I am still thirsty and I am so worried about stretching my sleeve. And I have had a really hard time protein wise. One of the reasons being is that since surgery I can not handle anything with milk in it. My diet consist of mainly steamed carrots, peaches and chicken. I am supposed to start "real foods " Wednesday. But, I can hardly eat mashed foods. It just feels off when I swallow its like the food rubs against something. -
When Was Everyone Cleared for "Real" Food

I am twentyone days post op today. Starting next Tuesday at four weeks I a cleared to eat "real" food. I am having a hard enough time getting any food in now. How am I suppose to start "real" food? Also, my "green" book that has my different food stages in it completely contradicts its self. At stage three I am allowed soft or moist food. One sentence says NO Pasta till 6 months out then the next says I am allowed soft noodles. It kills me how different the diets and stages are. Also, it kills me that one persons doctor tells them to never eat something again, while the next person is allowed to eat that same thing in week one. What is everyone else's experience switching over to "real" food. How did you handle it? -
I thought my nutrion plan was pretty lenient. Stage one Clear liquids for 4 days. Then stage two full liquids for 11-15 days. Then stage three moist or soft foods for 14 days including low fat crackers, half a piece of toast, and chopped or ground meat. Stage four foods for life. Which means eat whatever in moderation. Well, just a bit ago I was talking to my cousin who's a policeman who was sleeved six months ago. He emailed his diet plan that allowed lasagna roll ups at 14 days!! Pasta at 14 days post op? WOW!! And I was drilled about not eating untoasted bread, pasta and rice for 6 months. What are your guys post surgery diets like?

Why are so many stages different?

Thank you all for you wonderful replies. I have included a couple of links with different post op plans that kinda blew me out of the Water also, one that even has lasagna rolls that my cousin was telling me about. I am at day 16 and I was suppose to start soft moist foods this week on day 14 but, my "green book" with my post op food book is so unclear. So, I have been scared to try anything. I have been trying to call my Nut all week and even stopped by her office today but, she wasn't in. I was needing her to clarify what I am actually suppose to be eating. Because, it gives a list but, contradicts its self in the next paragraph. http://www.drshillingford.com/patient-information/weight-loss-surgery-nutrition/after-gastric-sleeve-gastric-bypass-diet/ http://www.upmc.com/Services/bariatrics/approach/post-surgery/diet/Pages/soft.aspx http://blog.riversidesurgicalweightloss.com/blog/gastric-bypass-recipes-after-surgery -
Why are so many stages different?
ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim replied to ChunkyMonkeyGoneSlim's topic in Food and Nutrition
My plan is liquids including Protein shakes in the hospital and until day 8 when we are allowed purees. No Pasta, bread or rice "forever" (or anything doughy that expands in stomach). I remember seeing a post from a woman who was eating lasagna (pureed) a week after surgery because she felt she should be able to eat what her family was eating. I always wonder how those people make out in the long run. Even if my plan allowed pasta - I wouldn't be having it - it's a major factor in why I'm fat! Were Italian so for us leaving pasta out is like leaving a part of us. But, I can do it I weighed 279 April 7th of the year. On the day of surgery I weighed 244. It's exactly two weeks later and I am down to 218. So, I'll skip the pasta. I was just blown away that they recommend it for him that soon and even had directions for the lasagna roll up. But, anywho thank you for all you responses. -

His whole food plan was insane. They had him on full liquids from day two. But, he is fine. He is down 100 pounds already. I was like I am down 26 pounds at 14 days post op. -
