Possibly, the information paper my Surgeon gave me says that's what it is, but overall I'm not talking about the traditional one.

That's what my surgeon told me as well. He wants to test my metabolism first to see if I can get sleeved, but I have so much to loose I just don't know if sleeve will be the right option Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you Bre:) I'm trying to be a little more positive and going to focus on health as a whole. Why is it that your program is 9 months? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Well i have my last appt. Dec 27th and then ill be ready to submitt everything to the board but the hosp. Im having surgery at only has one surgeon and they saying he a lil backed up and its like a 2 to 8 week wait. Smh its like as soon as u move forward u get some more bad news. But imma try to just wait it out. I thought i would be getting sleeved in January but looks like maybe March! 《BreBaby》 Oh dang, yeah and my hospital I'm at doesn't talk dates until all tests are done and I'm approved. Hopefully your time goes by fast though! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you so much it means a lot and it's weird, but it makes me feel a lot better seeing that others had troubles too, but kept going, definitely some great inspiration on here! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

That's a good idea, I'll try and work on the changes to keep my mind occupied, definitely don't want to overthink this whole thing, thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You should be fine all they do is give you a nurse who just basically keeps in contact with you while getting requirements done. No extra requirements or anything Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I agree uhc is very vague and not helpful. I haven't even thought about out of pocket expenses yet...hopefully it isn't too much. Good luck to you! Let me know what your doctor says!I will be sure to give you a follow up once I leave Dr Chavda's seminar! Ok! I'm back from the seminar and when I tell you Dr Chavda is amazing.....he is amazing!!! His nurse the entire team were so helpful. I'm so excited to get started with this change! Anyway, my out of pocket is around 3000 only because my insurance covers 80% of facility fees. I pay the rest up to an out of pocket max of 3000. However, I truly think that I'll only be out of pocket closer to 2000 once I'm all said and done???????????? Oh good:) its good you have a good doctor, seems like it makes the process less stressful. Hopefully I get a good doctor as well, fingers crossed!

Thanks I really needed to hear that because I was getting super discouraged and wanted to quit, but I've never wanted so much in my life, so I'm just going to keep on pushing

I feel as if this surgery is nothing but a dream. I've heard so many different things from insurance about having to go to a center of excellence it's ridiculous. I cancelled one consultation for another almost 300 miles from me (closest qualifying hospital) just to have insurance tell me I don't necessarily have to go there yet and that I can advocate to go somewhere closer to me. So now is the waiting game, to see if my advocate can convince my insurance to let me go to an in network doctor near me (fingers crossed for this option), or if I have to go to a center of excellence. So now I'm just sitting around...I was really hoping to get the surgery this year, during my break from school, but it's looking like that may not happen:( it's just so frustrating.

Is there any diagnosis that can keep you from getting the surgery?
-
Congrats! This makes me feel a lot better
-
You're welcome! Keep me posted!
-
Oh wow, well I hope your neurologist clears you!
-
Oh yeah that's good though the less complications the better. How did they find out you had Fluid on your neck?
-
Yeah, I hate anesthesia, but I hope everything goes well for you! Does your Dr. think bypass would help with the fluid on your neck at all?
-
Yeah I know what you mean. I want the sleeve too just because I don't like all the malabsorbtion, dumping and possibilities of strictures with bypass. I'm pretty sure I have GERD, but doesn't seem too bad to me, but I guess we'll wait and see what my Dr says.
-
Yeah that's GERD, and bypass actually helps with that as well!
-
That's great to hear! I spoke with my nurse and she seems really good, I'm actually happy to have that extra help from her. It's like added reinsurance that I will get approved, I was definitely nervous about it at first, but I feel more comfortable
-
Lol lucky you, luckily I get reimbursed so it's not all too bad lol
-
Oh wow that's is a set back! I hope you get all your stuff sent over. I'm just glad I decided to ask about requirements again with my insurance because the first time they said my doctor just needed to be in network, but come to find out I have to have surgery at a COE. The closest is 4 hrs from where I live, and it's inconvenient but I just keep reminding myself how inconvenient it is to be unhealthy and morbidly obese, so it's totally worth the drive! Good luck to you though keep me posted!
-
I'm just beginning my journey and have done some research, I have well over 150+ lbs to loose and just wanted to see if anyone has done that successfully with the sleeve, or would bypass be the better option?
-
This is all great info thanks everyone! I was also worried about any underlying mental conditions that would get me denied, but it's great to see others with them getting approved from the psych Dr

Finally got in for my consultation app September 7th! Already have my 6 months just need a psych eval, so excited/nervous????
