How long ago was your surgery?
-
Yes, I had the same problem. I was a band to sleeve revision as well and had a lot of problems with the band. I failed the emptying test twice post sleeve with that nasty liquid they made you drink. It turned out there was just a lot of inflammation from the lap band. I spent five days in the hospital and had to slowly heal. I couldn't tolerate liquids for three days. It will all work out. Just give it time.

Well, it sounds like you already have the right attitude. Just be there for her through it and when she gets excited about her weight loss be happy with her. Help her in any way you can but don't be too critical. My husband doesn't have a weight problem so I don't expect him to eat like me. I also don't need him telling me what to do. I am aware of what I need to be doing. Is this her first weight loss surgery or is she having a revision?

I was warned about this but now it is so obvious people are hating on me for having success with weight loss. I have a friend who is always trying new diets and asking me to join her. I always politely decline. I have lost about 43 lbs and she looks about the same. I can see her looking me up and down and making comments about me not eating my food. I haven't brought myself to tell very many people about my surgery. I am not sure what is holding me back. My husband, daughter, parents, and best friend know. I plan to eventually let people know but I am just not quite ready yet.......????

My coworkers make comments like you eat slow or is that all you are having. When I am out to dinner and I ask for a to go box, the people I am with are like you didn't eat much? Is something wrong with your food? I feel like I am constantly explaining myself to people and making horrible excuses on why I didn't eat my food. I just wish everyone would mind their own business!!

Two month post op appointment, need more protein?
AMJK79 replied to show1980's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a hard time with that too. Boiled eggs, tuna, low fat cheese, chicken breast, lean steak. You are doing great. I am 40lbs down but I am 5 months out. Keep up the great work!! -
I had to stop weighing myself daily and start weighing myself once a week. I think it is important to see your progress, but not obsess about it.

I just had a huge revelation about hunger. I was doing great for months with no cravings and then I started feeling hungry all the time. I realized I ran out of my prescription Prilosec and hadn't been taking it. I read somewhere that a lot of times we mistake hunger for acid reflux. I have been taking the Prilosec for two days and no cravings!!

I am a band to sleeve revision. I lost 50lbs with the lap band but put 25 back on. I had the revision done Aug.17th and so far no more pain and belching like with the band. I am 35 lbs total. I went 8 months completely unfiilled with the band to reduce all the swelling and inflammation, I did put on about 10 lbs during that time. It didn't bother me because I knew I was getting a revision. Don't sweat it and follow the steps so you can have the revision soon!! Good luck!!

This is my 2nd weight loss surgery and I am definitely doing better this time around. It helps to have supportive people to help you. The hospital where you had your surgery should have a monthly support meeting. You should check into it. Good luck with everything!!

3 Year Surgiversary- Woke up at Goal
AMJK79 replied to AvaFern's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for sharing and congratulations on hitting and maintaining goal!! -
Normally you do have to do the supervised diet with Blue cross/Blue shield but you may not have to if you did it the first time around with the Lap Band. I am also a Lap Band to revision and I didn't have to do the supervised diet this time around. Good luck with everything!!

July 13th revision, still have to sleep at an incline
AMJK79 replied to deannaL72's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yes I am 4 wks post op and I still have to sleep elevated. I am also a band to sleeve revision and weight loss is a lot slower for us. -
I had severe port pain when I had the Lap Band. When I would complain, the surgeon would always tell me that the Lap Band was on the other side and that the port shouldn't hurt. As soon as I revised to sleeve, the pain immediately subsided. I'm just glad that I had the revision!! Good luck on getting approved. Don't give up!!

Band to Sleeve Revision
AMJK79 replied to AMJK79's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That's great!! At least you were losing with the band. I was slowly gaining but that was after an up fill for 8 months before I had the revision. I am three weeks post op and I can already tell that it's way better!! -
How are you doing today Dan? I hope everything went well with your surgery.

Got sleeved yesterday Sept 5th!
AMJK79 replied to sushi4winks's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on getting the surgery done. Just take it slow because you are still healing. Don't worry about getting enough protein in the first week. Just focus on getting enough liquid. It will get better. I literally felt like death until day 5. Hang in there and take it easy. -
I thought we were no longer suppose to get hungry!?
AMJK79 replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The way it was explained to me is that the hormone slowly leaves your body after surgery. It takes about three weeks. I believe you will still get hungry it just won't be as intense as before. Sent from my iPhone -
I had a band to sleeve revision and I have 5 incisions. I am two weeks post op and one is still pretty sore. Doc says its normal because that was the deepest incision he had to make. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
