    Caffeine

I am in the Bariatric Program at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield IL We are not allowed caffeine after our surgeries because of the main possibility of dehydration and the fact that nutrients are absorbed into the body differently after bypass. Here is a good article on caffeine and bypass: http://hallmarkhealth.org/bariatric-and-weight-management-program/blog/caffeine-bariatric-surgery/

    ACK! Surgery is this Friday!

Heather! Best Wishes on your surgery!!! I am most likely a November gal at least that's my goal anyway. I have to get my A1C down under 9! It was 12 the end of July and my surgeon won't do it unless I am down. Won't it be nice to not have to really worry about our diabetes! Keep us posted on your journey! Janice
  4. I have flown through all my visits and I know surgery is very close BUT I have to get my A1C down to 9. It was 12 on 7/28. Any suggestions? I'm on insulin, taking metformin watching what I eat and exercising. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  5. Hey Terri! The sleep study is not hard at all. Stressing over it is way worse. They will hook you up to all kinds of wires, there is no pain or anything.. tuck you into a nice bed (like a hotel room) and you will sleep. I am a side sleeper also and I was able to move somewhat. Please don't be scared. It's really easy. I got to read a bit and watch TV... the worst part is they get you up at the butt crack of dawn! Feel free to reach out if you want to chat. Janice

    Frustrated

Just a thought... If you are not already try logging everything you eat into My Fitness Pal and see where your sugars are coming from. Check your Protein shakes, check the amount of fruit you eat. In MFP it will give you all the culprits. It could be as simple as your Protein Shakes. The more exercise you can do the better your sugar is also ( i learned this at my PT session last week) Good Luck!!
  7. Hello! I'm Janice aka Grandma Jan. I started my journey on June 30th and have been plugging through all the requirements of my program. I am so thankful to have found the team at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield IL. I was cleared last week by the psychologist, have 1 more visit with the nurse practitioner and have started my nutrition and physical therapy. Looking to be done with those by the middle to end of October. I'm excited, nervous and anything else I can think of. I will be 55 on Saturday and this is the best thing I can do for me! I have 7 grandkids and I want to be there for them and be able to attend all their sporting events and take them places without being unable to walk or get short of breath. I am happy to have found these forums. Even though we are all different it's awesome to be able to listen to everyone's stories both pre and post op. [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:25125]
