It really depends on the surgeon. My surgeon was pretty strict about labs, but I would say most surgeons probably aren't from what I have read on here. Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App

I started my surgery process (initial seminar) 9/15. I had all the appointments & testing done & was set to have surgery 1/16. I ended up having to postpone surgery because of low Iron. I finally got my surgery 9/26/16 so like you it was a year later. I did feel that way at the end! The liquid diet presurgery was so hard! I had a good recovery & am really happy I was patient & still went ahead with it! I am down 60 lbs in almost 4 months! It was definitely a tough road getting there, but the best decision for myself! Tips to drink more water
wheels121604 replied to Melsyboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 24 oz Water bottle. It has the measurements on the front. I think that helps me so much. I try to drink 3 water bottles full a day which is 72 oz. Most days I am able to get it in. I just try to have my water bottle with me all the time. I usually try to get my first water bottle in by noon. The first one for me is the hardest because I am not a morning eater. I feel like I am in a good routine now so I don't think about it as much. Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -
Oh wow!! It's crazy how different everything is for each person! They told me next Friday I get to move to a regular bariatric diet. I don't know how you're going to do the liquid diet for so long!! Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App

Full liquids get old very quickly!! I was sleeved 9/26 too & my Dr moved me to a mash diet today! I was so excited because there are only so many things you can eat on a liquid diet lol. How much longer are you on a liquid diet? Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App

I had my surgery 9/26. I feel pretty good. I have had lots of gas, but walking helps so much. I am trying to take the drinking slowly. I got to come home yesterday which was so nice! I am on a full liquid diet until my next appointment in 8 days. Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App

wheels121604 replied to lgreene75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved yesterday morning. I felt pain yesterday and was super tired. Today I am just sore & have minimal pain. I actually haven't taken very much pain medication today. Walking definitely helps with gas. I was told from the beginning I am staying til Wednesday. It will be nice to be at home! Good luck to everyone recovering and about to get sleeved!! Getting sleeved tomorrow
wheels121604 replied to lgreene75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you're all prepared! I don't get nauseous or throw up super easily, but I had c-sections with my 3 kids & I threw up right after with all 3. I hate throwing up. I should mention something to them tomorrow about it! Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -

Did anyone have Iron deficiency pre-op?
wheels121604 replied to marchmellow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's really how your doctor feels about low Iron. I am sure some doctors would still do it. Mine wouldn't because he said it can cause excessive bleeding. If you're worried about it, I would talk to your doctor. I hope you have an easier time than me! Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -
Did anyone have Iron deficiency pre-op?
wheels121604 replied to marchmellow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my ablation on August 5th & it has been awesome. I had a little spotting right after which is normal, but that definitely beats the heavy periods I had before. And now no worrying about my Iron since that's what caused it. Getting it to go up was hard, but just remember our doctors are only trying to be safe. Low iron can cause excessive bleeding. It was hard at the time, but looking back now. My sister in law had the sleeve in January so it does stink, but I am excited it's finally almost here! Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -
Did anyone have Iron deficiency pre-op?
wheels121604 replied to marchmellow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was originally scheduled in January for the sleeve. I had no idea my Iron was low until I got the test for my preop testing. At that point I was a 15. So they cancelled my surgery I got my blood work done every 6 weeks. I had extremely heavy periods so my gyno suggested that I get an ablation which I had done in August. I am now scheduled for September 26th. I have to get my blood work done again on Monday. It has been a very long road, but now that my period isn't an issue it seems to moving right along. I am taking 4 iron supplements daily. Also make sure you take in extra Vitamin C, it helps with absorbing iron. Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -
Do you need to loose a certain amount of weight during the pre-op diet
wheels121604 replied to joei0005's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to do a 10 day liquid diet but I don't have to lose a specific amount of weight. And I didn't have to do the 6 month diet. Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App -

Getting sleeves 9/26th
wheels121604 replied to Amandadoesntwant's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is September 26 too!! ???? I obviously can't give you any tips about the actual surgery, but my surgery was rescheduled twice because of low Iron so if you have any questions about the preadmission testing and stuff like that let me know! Sent from my XT1080 using the BariatricPal App
