Any October 2016 Sleevers?
perspectiveiseverything replied to bkskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My date is October 5th too. My surgeon and NUT are anti-Protein shakes so I am supposed to just keep doing the pre-op plan (3 high-protein meals/day, low carbs, no sugar/caffeine/alcohol) through 6pm the day before surgery. -

Protein soups
perspectiveiseverything replied to cbonet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon and NUT are anti-protein shakes, so I plan to use bone broth to take care of Protein needs and hydration needs in the first several days post-op. The nutritional yeast is a great add-on idea! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
October Surgery
perspectiveiseverything replied to AmberSarbree87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@dccarite Nice job stopping smoking! My surgery date it the day before yours - we've totally got this! I also have a two year old (and a four year old) who I have to cook dinner for every night - my plan is to use the kid plates and give myself the same portion size that I give them (of the protein). Collar Bones-- When did you start to notice them
perspectiveiseverything replied to Candygyrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Collar bones have always been sort of a "marker" for me for weight loss. I have "found" and "lost" my collar bones several times over the years. :-) I am still pre-op right now, but even with the pre-op diet (I've lost almost 20 lbs so far), my collar bones have started to emerge again! So exciting! I weigh 238 right now (I'm 5'8"). -
Anyone with hyper/hypothyroidism?
perspectiveiseverything replied to RellaBelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have hypothyroid and the other important thing to remember about the medication (levothyroid) is that both Calcium and Iron inhibit its effectiveness so you can't take the medication within two hours either side of the Vitamins. Given how frequently we have to take vitamins, the RN coordinator at Kaiser told me that the only good time to take levothyroid is in the middle of the night when you get up to pee. :-/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
So where are 30 somethings shopping?
perspectiveiseverything replied to Katrinakit's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm 35 and my go-tos are Modcloth.com and anthropologie, but I also find styles I like at banana Republic/Gap/Old Navy and Ann Taylor-Loft. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Quitting caffeine
perspectiveiseverything replied to bostonmama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still pre-op (surgery scheduled for 10/5), but started decreasing caffeine after my orientation in August. I used to drink one cup of coffee in the morning and then some green tea in the afternoon. You won't get major withdrawal symptoms if you ween yourself off slowly (I switched to half-caff for two weeks, then decaf coffee, then after another two weeks, decaf green tea). No headaches. -

Second thoughts?
perspectiveiseverything replied to saramichelle917's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have struggled with this a lot, and have done exactly what @@WLSResources/ClothingExch mentioned above - each step has been "I'll just go to this and check it out, then we'll see....". Things got even more murky in my mind when I got my surgery date (10/5) - things started to feel so real. I spent several days agonizing over every aspect, but then all of the sudden one morning I woke up feeling sure. I think it's totally normal to have second thoughts about sure a huge decision! Kaiser
perspectiveiseverything replied to krystalb4rny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm going through KP Richmond (NorCal). It has gone very smoothly so far! Orientation class/first NUT appt was on 8/4, surgical consultation (Dr. Mostaedi) on 8/12, psych eval and RN coordinator appts on 9/1 (I was at goal weight so I was able to do both on the same day), and VSG is scheduled for 10/5. It's been kindof a whirlwind! -
RICHMOND, CA KAISER ANYONE?
perspectiveiseverything replied to CNOEL3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! I am going through KP Richmond and have my sleeve scheduled with Dr. Mostaedi on 10/5. I'm so looking forward to it, but I am also terrified now that it is getting so REAL. Good to see other people who have had Dr. Mostaedi - I couldn't find a lot of information about him online. -

nervous and excited
perspectiveiseverything replied to perspectiveiseverything's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I went in for my psych appt on 9/1 and weighed in at 240.6! Surgical goal weight (pre-op) was 243 so I'm there plus some. I also met with the case manager and got my surgery date - 10/5. Now that it is real I am more "nervous but excited" than ever. I have told my family/ closest friends at this point and they are all trying to be supportive, but they are also trying to talk me into doing something less drastic. It's tough. I went through a couple of days of second guessing myself, but now I am feeling more confident in this path than ever. I just hope that I am able to be up and playing with my kiddos (ages 2 and 4) again quickly after surgery (I know, no lifting). We are traveling to see family for Halloween (1.5 hour flight), do you think that I'll be ok to travel/go swimming while there? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Are you in Kaiser northern CA or southern? Your psychiatric history won't preclude you from surgery, but if you are actively involved in treatment then the bariatric psychologist will likely want to check-in with your providers. They just want to make sure that you are stable for surgery, understand the risks, have good support, etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Got my surgery date!
perspectiveiseverything replied to facebro29's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

October Surgery
perspectiveiseverything replied to AmberSarbree87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not sure of the date yet, but it'll be sometime in October. For now I'm working on eating well (high Protein and veggies/low carbs) and moving my body more. Also cutting down on caffeine little by little (I'm down to one cup of half caff for now) and cutting back on alcohol (down to once a week or so - I wasn't a heavy drinker before but I usually like a glass of wine with dinner). Here we go! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
