What is your favorite Scale?
lvmyrottnlab replied to Rae5148's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the FitBit Aria scale. Has WiFi and connects to your FitBit account. Can hold up to 8 accounts on it. Got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond and used a 20% off coupon. ???? Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App -

Hi Everyone! Happy almost Thanksgiving! I am just a little over 3 weeks out from surgery and I am exhausted. All I want to do is get in bed and sleep. I know that being tired is a common issue after surgery and as you adjust to your new lifestyle, but when did this start to turn around for you? I am trying to focus on getting my Protein in each day, getting my fluids and taking my Vitamins but it has been a struggle. My NUT gave me the green light last week to move to soft food but nothing really tastes good and the 30/30 rule is killing me. I know this gets better and I know I am probably just having one of those "what did I do to myself" days so if you have any advice/wisdom to share, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kathy

I just want to feel better
lvmyrottnlab replied to lvmyrottnlab's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you! After my post (which was rather cathartic to write btw) I did dust myself off and got up and got moving. I backed off the big drugs and decided that I have it in me to do this and just need to focus. I keep trying to remind myself that this part of this journey is just for a brief moment in my life and in a few weeks I will begin reaping the rewards of seeing this through. I would also like to say I really admire how you always give such kind and thoughtful responses to others. I have seen your frequent posts and think we could all learn a lot from your valuable insight. Sent from my SM-T813 using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you! I backed off the big pain meds and that seems to have helped a bit. I have been walking laps around my pool and really feel like the walking is helping tons! Sent from my SM-T813 using the BariatricPal App -

I had gastric bypass surgery on Monday, October 31st. I did my two week pre-op diet without any cheating which amazed me. I didn't know I had that in me. Surgery went well and even though I had some urine retention due to the anesthesia and had to be catheriterized I think I handled it all fairly well. I was released late the next day. My Mom and husband were there to take care of me. I had an allergic reaction to the twice daily Lovanox injections and the doctor told me to cut them out and be sure to get up and walk and do my leg pumps. I don't remember much from that week other than that. This week has been a whole heck of a lot different. Took my OnQ pump out late last Friday night. Had no clue how much it was helping. Today is my first day since without big pain meds. Had horrible constipation Monday. Took milk of magnesia and finally had relief. Today I have diarrhea. Yesterday I moved too quickly and felt excruciating pain on my right side incision. Almost passed out from it. Called doctors office and they think I tore an internal suture. Not much to be done but ice it, hold it when moving about and take it easy. I can't find a comfortable temperature. I am either too hot or too cold. I also have to crush meds and have been taking them in SF Jello. I will never want jello EVER again! I don't feel like talking to anyone, have been home alone this week and on top of all of this, I cry at the drop of a hat. Oh and I thought I would have been back to work already. Not writing this to scare anyone thinking of having surgery or about to. Just looking for some reassurance that this is normal and it does get better. Feeling angry with myself and wondering what the heck I did. Thank you in advance for reading this and any advice or reassurance you can pass along. Rash across abdomen and mid-back pain.

2 days home from surgery and I found out I was allergic to the Lovanox injections they had me doing twice a day. My husband said I was scratching in my sleep. Doc said you can have a delayed reaction. Could be something like that. Glad you have an appointment. Hope you feel better soon. Sent from my SM-T813 using the BariatricPal App -

lvmyrottnlab replied to laceemouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a sleever but having bypass at 7:30 AM on Halloween. Thought it was fitting to have it done on a day that is all about the candy which has always been my downfall. Good luck to both of you! Sent from my SM-T813 using the BariatricPal App -
Crushing medications
lvmyrottnlab replied to lvmyrottnlab's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you everyone for the suggestions. My surgery is on October 31st and I am on an all liquid diet right now so I will take this next week to try and find a method for during the liquids only phase. Maybe mix with lukewarm broth or even SF Jell-O perhaps? Once I hit the mushies phase I am thinking the SF applesauce or SF pudding will be the way to go. Hi Everyone! Quick question. I have five medications that I take daily. One may go away after surgery but the rest will stay. I have been told I have to crush them for 3 months post surgery as they are larger than the head of a pencil eraser and they don't come in a liquid format. I tried crushing them today and putting them in a shot glass with Water. Needless to say it was AWFUL! Anyone out there have to do this as well and if so any tips? Thank you in advance for you help!
