OMG Cursing At Nurses
BariatricGal replied to BariatricGal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First, I want to say, I was kept in recovery for EIGHT hours which contributed to me becoming cranky and irritable. There was NO Rooms available for patients to be moved into. My surgeon had Six surgeries that day. I was number three scheduled for 11 AM. I actually was brought in early and surgery was only an hour. The Recovery Room was full of several other patients, their family members, staff, so noisy, bright lights, movement, voices - I wanted peace and quiet by this time -and I was fine until about the last 30 minutes before my room was ready to be moved into. Once I got to room and settled to rest a machine started BEEPING. It would not stop and I was trying to push a non-functioning nurse button on the bed (should have pushed the nurse button on the TV remote) and had to start yelling for help. The nurse couldn't stop the beeping so she called a tech. and he couldn't repair the machine to stop the beeping so they ended up having to replace the Beeping machine. Right after this the assistant nurse came in to take my blood pressure. I told her it was probably SKY High. She left with plans to come back later but didn't say that or I didn't hear her. I was like "NOOO, I want it documented." I called and told them come take my blood pressure. No Food - No Sleep = Me being Bitchy. -
Best of luck to you. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Wanted to add, I did have some Gas pain in my lower back and upper chest area. I just used a heating pad on those areas.

The anesthesiologist gave me a numbing shot in my side before surgery. It was to help reduce the need for the pain medicines that can make a patient nauseous. My pain level at the hospital was 2-3. I have not took any pain meds since leaving the hospital. My stomach was sore as if I had been exercising. Prepare for the Worse, but it was not nearly as bad as I had thought it might be.

When I shake and pour Premier into the little Medicine cups to sip it has foam on top. Is this foam alright to drink? It looks like it is full of air bubbles. I spooned it off a couple of times. Surgery 11/16/2016 HW 248 SW 213.5 CW 210.5

QUESTIONS TO MY SURGEON
BariatricGal replied to Missbeauty16's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There is a lot of great information on weight loss surgery here - http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ Common Questions To Ask Your Bariatric Surgeon Before Having Weight-Loss Surgery What types of weight-loss operations do you perform? (should be more than one, don't let anyone sell you a particular type of surgery, make sure it suits your lifestyle.) Which weight-loss surgery procedure is best for me? How many of each weight-loss surgery procedure have you performed? Can I be considered a candidate for weight-loss surgery even though I have one or more associated health conditions related to my obesity? What are the risks involved with weight-loss surgery? How long will I be in surgery? What is the length of my hospital stay for my weight-loss surgery procedure? How long will it be before I can return to pre weight-loss surgery levels of activity? work? driving? exercise and umm other activities? How will my eating habits change after weight-loss surgery? What is the typical excess weight loss and improvement of associated health conditions for your other patients? Do you have patients who are willing to share their weight-loss surgery experiences, both positive and negative? (Check out ObesityHelp reviews) What information can you give me to help family and friends better understand this surgery? What type of long-term, aftercare services (such as support groups and counseling) can you provide for me post weight-loss surgery? (This is soooo important, run if they offer nothing) -

Castor Oil or Magnesium Citrate ?
BariatricGal posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The day before surgery I have to take one or the other. I just tried the Lemon flavor of magnesium citrate and it is nasty. Is the grape or berry flavor any better? Does Castor Oil taste better? Can I mix with any thing? The bottle of Magnesium citrate says do not refrigerate. -
I saw heating pads on the list of needed items. I am trying to decide if and why I should buy one. What is it used for and where would it be applied to? The shoulders? The back? Legs?

At my last Pre-Surgery visit I asked about Gas X. The Nurse Practitioner told me that the Surgeon removes the gas after surgery. I have been reading this forum for a few months now and I see people complaining about the gas pain all the time and to walk to relieve it. Has any one heard of this removal? I have one last pre-op appointment two days before surgery where I actually see the doctor and will ask him then.
