    Pureed stage

    https://www.pinterest.com/explore/pureed-food-recipes/
  2. Just taking it one day at a time is how I'm getting through. Being able to move to full liquids did help a bit, but it still just sucks. I had 2 burst into tears meltdowns in the first 8 days or so. Just know that it will pass. I am starting purees tomorrow and I'm SOOO excited. Just keep reminding yourself that it's all temporary and it will be worth it. Hopefully you have a support system who you can complain and vent to. It'll be over soon!!
  3. Wow, what an offensive phrase. Well, good luck to you.
  4. Jeez. You know a lot of people do seem to go through a brief phase of regret. It can be really tough and they're on here looking for support and other people who understand. Calling it a "cry for attention" seems pretty unfair and judgmental.
  5. I think this is all part of the process honestly. I am 11 days out and just 2 or 3 days ago I stopped wishing I hadn't done it. The first week especially is TOUGH. 4 days out some friends stopped by and I literally burst into tears at the dinner table in front of everyone. About 3 days ago I had another absolute meltdown. I think once I can get off the stupid all liquid diet on Tuesday I will feel even better about it. You have a lot going on right now and you're not getting proper nutrition yet. You're also still recovering from a major surgery and you had some bad symptoms afterwards. It makes sense that you're miserable. It will get easier every day. I almost backed out the day before and then had complete regret for over a week, I think it's really common!
  6. The post above was very informative! As long as you're sticking to your diet and not drinking milkshakes all day or something it has to be some kind of Water weight!
  7. This sounds a little deeper than lack of sex drive. Maybe you should go see a therapist and see if there's some depression going on?

    No more weight loss

I wonder if part of the picture is missing here. Even if you're not getting enough Protein your calorie intake based on what you said is about 500, and that's a high estimate assuming the mac and cheese had a lot of calories. You should still be losing. Yes your body will slow down once you're in starvation mode but your weight should not be standing still on that little food. Are you sure you're tracking EVERYTHING? Little bites here and there add up. Are you drinking calories?
  9. If you've ever had surgery before you know that you just kind of feel like crap when you first wake up. You're hazy from the anesthesia and in some pain. The nurse gave me pain meds as soon as I was talking and the bad pain was very brief. I had bad gas pain for about 30 or 45 minutes total and some nausea the first night that they handled with extra IV meds. I am 9 days out. I really had no incision problems, I never vomited, and stopped taking all pain/nausea meds on day 3. I think that if your surgery is routine there really isn't too much to deal with!
  10. I shouldn't be complaining, I've had a really easy recovery so far with no issues getting in my Protein or Water, but I'm having a rough time mentally and emotionally. First of all I also haven't had a cigarette (except one cheat) since my surgery day. I was not required to quit before surgery but I'm trying to now. I also used to get tons of caffeine by drinking TONS of soda and I obviously haven't had one of those either. I switched to diet before surgery but my body is completely used to lots of caffeine, sugar, and nicotine. I feel like all this crap on top of not being able to eat is just getting to be too much for me to handle. I'm so EFFING sick of this liquid diet crap. I feel like my head is going to explode. All of my comforts (including taking baths which I LOVE) are just gone right now and I'm really struggling. I know there's nothing anyone can do and I chose this so I'm basically just being a huge brat, but I'm losin it and had to get it out!

    Tomorrow is the BIG day.

That's great! Did you try the Gas X strips? They REALLY helped me. I know some people say that they can't help because the OR gas is different than gas from digestion, but my doctor said they would help and they did. It makes sense because they want you to burp and fart after surgery to get rid of it, lol. I only had bad gas pain briefly and I used 4 in a row and it was gone within like 30 mins. Walking definitely helped as well. The liquids are tough at first, I didn't meet my minimum until day 3. If you're still in the hospital and getting IV hydration then I wouldn't worry too much.
  12. Thanks everyone. Like I said, I've had it easy recovery wise and there have been definite good things like ending my caffeine addiction (I think after 11 days it's getting easier), and losing 13 lbs in 10 days, but it's just rough sometimes. I think I'll feel like a new person when I can get off the liquid diet on Tuesday. This is tough!! Anyone who says this is the "easy way out" doesn't realize how hard it is!
  13. I was sleeved 5 days ago and my recovery has been so smooth that it's making me suspicious. Day 1 was pure hell obviously. I had a good deal of pain waking up but mostly it was the anesthesia and heavy drugs that were making me feel completely awful and confusing reality with fantasy. Day 2 I got in an okay amount of Protein and Water, maybe made it about 1/2 way to goal. Since then I've had no problems. Very minimal pain at times that is either hunger or gas and other than a bit of soreness around the big incision I've had no issues. I can get down 8 oz of broth or water in about 30 minutes. I am okay taking regular drinks (no need to sip, but not gulping) and have gotten 60g of protein and at least 64 oz of Fluid for the past 3 days. It's making me paranoid. I ALWAYS have issues after medical procedures and I'm terrified that this is all going a little too good. I feel certain that I'm headed for a staple leak or blood clot or something. I'm worried that maybe there already is some kind of leak and that's why all the liquids are going down so easily, or they made it too big.. or something. I'm freaking out because I don't feel sick and I know it's demented. Other than being extra tired I am really not having any problems.... Is it too good to be true or are some of us just lucky?

    Smoking and sleeve surgery

I think nicotine tests only work for 72 hours.
  15. One week post op today, down 7 lb since surgery and 13 since pre op diet (my pre op was only 4 days). Not bad!

    Tomorrow is the BIG day.

I knew I had to go my body just wasn't awake and cooperating yet. At the time I was perfectly happy just to be asleep on the toilet so I sat there until it happened, lol. I was NOT getting a catheter.

    Tomorrow is the BIG day.

Youll do great! I went in at 7 and did all the registration and pre op stuff (getting IV, gown, urine sample, etc etc). Last thing I remember was them saying it was my turn and that they were going to give me something to help me relax. I remember feeling calm and then waking up to someone calling my name. I always have a bad time coming off anesthesia so that sucked but isn't typical. After that they took me to my room and loaded me up with pain meds and anti nausea. If I'm not sugar coating, the first day sucks (and that's any surgery in my experience). You're just going to feel crappy and out of it from anesthesia and pain meds. I also had to spend like 2 hours in the bathroom (asleep on the toilet for most of it, lol) trying to pee so they wouldn't insert a catheter. I finally did. The next day I was walking around and totally ready to go home. I'm 6 days post and still feeling pretty tired but I've been off pain killers and nausea meds completely for 3 days. The first 24 hours will be the hardest but for most people it's not that bad.
  18. Quitting smoking was not a requirement for my surgeon to do the sleeve, but I'm trying my hardest since I had to quit for 36 hours in the hospital. Last night I was about to peel my own skin off. It is HARD. Most people gain weight when they quit because they eat more to compensate, we don't even have that option! Ask your doctor about chantix. I might. I know it can take a couple of weeks to kick in though and NOW is the hard time. If possible I'd really rather just quit (easier said than done). I have made it FIVE DAYS though which is longer than I ever have without Patches or e cigs or anything. I'm hoping if I can get through the first week it'll ease up a little.
  19. My big day was last week and I barely slept the night before. No worries though, there will be plenty of time for that afterwards. Good luck!
  20. I feel like I had a billion tests... on top of all the blood tests I had an EKG, echo, pulmonary function test, upper endoscopy, ultrasound of gallbladder and liver, psych eval, drug test, and physical by my GP for surgical clearance. One week I had 8 dr appts! mr1121 - can they decline you if you smoke?? My surgeon didn't make quitting a requirement for his sleeve patients unless they were very high BMI. However, quit beforehand if you can. I smoked up until the morning of the surgery and now I'm trying to quit. I haven't smoked since that morning which was 5 days ago but MAN, it's sooooo hard to quit when you're giving up so many things at once.

  22. I was so miserable in the hospital that I just wasn't expecting it to be this easy. I wasn't in a lot of pain necessarily but I just hated being there and all the drugs made me SO hazy and confused. I begged to go home the next day and then found out my surgeon had already cleared me. I definitely haven't been immune to the emotional side of all of it, last night I had my first meltdown. On top of being sleeved I also haven't smoked a cigarette or had any caffeine since Monday so I am very mentally fragile right now.
  23. Why on earth would that make me feel better?? Hope it gets easier soon! :/
  24. Like I said, I know it's totally demented, lol. I'm just so used to seeing everyone talking about how hard it is that I feel like something is wrong. I do feel post surgery crappy, I don't feel spectacular or anything, but I'm really not struggling much.
  25. @@mrssoupmix me too. this was one of the first things i tried when i got home because i did think it wasn't too bad pre op. i hated it after surgery. i couldn't get down one bite. ive been getting most of my protein through shakes but have used "better than bullion" as a clear liquid. it's really good but i only use 1/2 the recommended amount because it's very strong.
