I'll have a black and blue Christmas
#BirdDog replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't doubt your decision. For me it was the best thing I've ever done. The first few days post op were a little rough but each day was better than the last. I only took pain meds for a few days after surgery. Then I was good to go without. Only had minor pain with some movements. It's an excellent Christmas present for yourself! Complete life changer, just stick to your surgeons plan and you'll do great. -
New kid on the block here.

Best decision I've ever made!!! I am so much healthier now! Sleep apnea is much better, blood pressure normal, blood sugar normal, cholesterol normal. I was taking six pills every morning and two more at night. No more pills for me!!! It's an amazing journey and we all have our own reasons for taking it. It's not always easy. I applaud you for taking control of your health! -

Happy to report my blood tests came back with excellent results. The only level that was a little low was vitamin D. But I do live in Seattle, everyone's vitamin D is low here. -

Lettuce, raw veggies
#BirdDog replied to bellamarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months out, haven't had a salad but I do use romaine lettuce as a wrap for ground beef/turkey. Haven't had any issues with it. -
I'm counting down, 60 more pounds to go. I'll get there!

I took two weeks off after my surgery date. Probably could have gone back a few days earlier but why push it. As for before surgery I took a week off there too, just to give me a little time to get everything prepared. With the strict diet they put me on I didn't want my coworkers to have to deal with me being grumpy.

Things have slowed down a little for me, which I'm totally alright with. My nutritionist added in some more carbs and fat. I was dropping 1 to 2 pounds a day now it's much slower, about a pound every couple days. I'm down 110 pounds and feeling really good. I've been going to the gym four to five times a week and am in the best shape of my adult life. If my weight loss stopped now I would perfectly content. My surgeon would like me to get down to 200. Guess I'd be alright with that as well. I've been using the PatchMD Vitamin patch, just had my blood drawn the other day and have an appointment with my surgeon this afternoon. Time will tell how well it's worked for me. -

How do I manage to get enough protein daily!?
#BirdDog replied to mandrey's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Isopure zero carb drinks. 40g protein & 20 oz of fluid. Not too bad tasting but the smell has been bothering me a little lately. Not bad enough to stop drinking them. With zero carbs and zero fat 40g of protein and 160 cals it's a good way to start my day off in the right foot. -

The fitbit aria scale is about two pounds off from my old scale. But it is WAY more consistent than my old one. So I trust it more. It's awesome that it uploads to my fitbit app and fitbit sends the data to MyFitnessPal. I'm finding tracking everything is getting easier and easier as I go. -

I'm a bit more than two months out, after getting between 2 and 4 oz of food in, I'm pretty uncomfortable. Can't imagine 10 or 12! -

Purchased a new scale today, I've been eyeballing the Fitbit Aria. Was with my wife at Target tonight and saw they had it in stock so I grabbed one. Seems pretty close to the weight I was getting from my WW scale. We'll see what my weight looks like in the morning. Should be down some since my wallet is lighter now -

Once I stopped the pain meds I was back to driving. Could have gone back to work then but glad I waited and rested for another week. -
I'm 12 weeks post op and have soup every once in a while. Only a quarter cup or so. Much more than that and I find it uncomfortable.

Some people have the shots others don't. I think it all has to do with your risk of clotting and your surgeon.

Awesome start!

When I graduated to mechanically soft foods I was out of town for work. The convention I was at served breakfast burritos for breakfast. I popped it open and had a couple tiny bites of the eggs. There was a little bit of sausage that I didn't notice in there. Body didn't like it, came right back up. Took a month or so more before I could stomach it. I have some every once in a while but it's the turkey sausage.
