    Surgery tomorrow

Good luck, remember recovering from surgery is only temporary. You'll be back to 100% in no time.

    Watermelon

I second the sugar free popsicles. That's my evening go to snack. Don't see anything on my paperwork about watermelon. Not sure I'd get into the habit of that one with all of the natural sugars in it.

    Walking the dogs

Yup with pullers I'd leave them home for a little bit. I have a chihuahua so I thought it'd be okay. But he makes it about a block away and refuses to go further so I end up having to carry him. Immediately post op not so good, now, I guess it just adds to my workout. Lol!
  9. I am a supervisor at work and have many people that count on me to be honest and up front with them at all times. I'm an open book, I didn't hold back. If they had questions I gave them honest answers. When they saw my leave on the schedule, wondered why I was doing a liquid diet, or any other "tell", I was honest with them. In my case it turned out to be the best thing I could have done. I am surrounded by an astonishing number of supportive people. I have no shame in my decision so I don't feel like I need to hide it. My weight was going to kill me prematurely. I'll talk to any and everybody about it. I have co-workers and friends who have a few extra pounds, and while they are pursuing weight loss with other methods I will be right there cheering them on! I don't get down on anyone for bettering themselves no matter the method. That said, this was a big decision to make and a drastic thing to put my body through. There were more than one conversation had with concerned friends or family. Once all my cards were on the table they all came to the same conclusion. I was making the best decision for me. Every time someone would question why I would do this to myself, or couldn't I just lose it on my own, I took that as an opportunity to revisit why I was going through with it. Explaining it and listening to the concerns from those that cared about me just ended up solidifying my decision. I had thought about keeping it a secret then when someone noticed the weight loss saying I was on drugs. But decided against that... man I'm long winded tonight, sorry.

    getting in my liquids...

Took me a bit to get going to, my surgeon pushed protein protein protein. Getting in the fluids and protein is important to your healing process. I used a Nalgene bottle and had to constantly sip on it to get mine in. Even now I'm finding myself laying in bed reading and trying to get in the last of my water for the day.
  12. Had my appointment with the sleep doc today. Apparently I lost a bit of chub from my face so they are sending me to be fitted for a new mask. It was good to have them review my machines data and have a follow up anyway. Hopefully I hear back about my fitting appointment soon. I want to get back to sleeping as well as I was before. They are going to keep monitoring my weight loss progress and downloading my machine every couple months to stay on top of it while I'm losing weight. I think it's amazing all the people that are monitoring things to make sure I'm successful, from my surgeon, the nutritionist, my primary physician, the sleep doctor, and my trainer at the gym. My support team keeps getting bigger! Everyone has their part, including me. It's important I keep up my end of the bargain not only for myself but because a lot of people have done a lot of work to support me. I don't want to let any of them down! A little bummed this evening as I ate a few too many carbs. Had five wheat thins with my dinner. I know it's not huge, but I really didn't need them. Oh well, tomorrow's a new day! Haven't given numbers in a while, two weeks pre op I was 370, this morning I weighed in at 288. Hoping to be down 100 pounds by Christmas.

    3 week Post Op

Great numbers, keep up the good work!
  16. I add liquid vitamin D to an Isopure and drink that throughout the morning. Gets me boosted with 40g of protein and one of my vitamins out of the way.
  17. I really feel the nutritionist part as well as the psych is very important. Just because your insurance won't cover the surgery doesn't mean they won't cover nutritionist visits. Might be worth your while to check into it. Lots of good information can be gained from a quality nutritionist.

    Exercise?

I signed up at the YMCA last week. Did the activtrax deal where I met with someone who did a strength test and talked about my goals. It's all handled by the software. Now when I go in, I log in with my phone and it tells me which machines to use, how to set them up, and the number of reps and sets to do. It's not a personal trainer but it gives me direction when I go in and it slowly progresses me. Annnnd the fact that it came with the membership and didn't cost me anything extra was a bonus. So far I've been twice and am planning on going first thing in the morning.

Shot to Reduce Risk of Blood Clots

I had to do the same thing. I'm 35 but for some reason the surgeon felt I was at a higher risk for blood clots. I never questioned it. I HATE needles and was lucky enough to have my wife take the two weeks off to be with me after surgery. So she gave them to me. Not sure I have it in me to give myself the shots but I know that many people do. There are even some who have put their experience with them on YouTube.
  20. Very nice! Feels good making progress doesn't it.
  21. Tell them the food was awful and demand they take it off the bill. Okay not really, I just tell them the food is great, just not real hungry... could I get a to go box? Seems to work well every time.

    NSV shout outs

Played racquetball with my wife today, almost an hour. Gave her a run for her money even though she much thinner and in much better shape.

    Exercise & Fitbit

Love my fitbit, keeps me honest with how much activity I'm getting in each day.
  24. I'm 8 weeks post op, 370 the day I started my preop liquid diet, 291 this morning. Losing 100+ pounds is definitely realistic for me, many people have done it using this surgery as a tool. All depends on your numbers and what you're going to put into this journey.
