Best insurance for quick approval
cbonet replied to B_Blake's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no answer. Every insurance company has their own provisions and regulations. Each company has parameters for approving all surgeries as well as testing. In my case my insurance company states a 6 month supervised wait. However due to serious health issues an appeal was won and I was approved (after first being denied) in 2 months. Need help with this decision
cbonet replied to thiswaywardgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ignored my health for years due to my job-huge resposibilty-extreme stress. I ended getting very sick and retiring from a field that I loved. Now its a year later. They survived without me but I almost didn't. Take care of yourself first. I learned that the hard way Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App -

I had a similiar situation at work and felt the same going to someones home where desserts/snacks were being served. I would fight the urge in the moment, but think about the food and then binge later. What I decided to do was carry something OK to have and that I liked in limited quantities so that I could have a treat too in those moments and not feel deprived. I chose Dove Dark chocolate squares and kept 4 in a baggie in my bag. It helped a lot. Limiting the amount was sometimes a challenge, but basically it worked

I also self sabotage. I try to look at the patterns and eliminate it. At one point it was drive thrus. I made a no drive thru rule and if I wanted the food I had to go in. I hated going inside so I eventually stopped. Look for patterns and make a plan around them. Another one was I would blindly eat at night. I made a no eating after 8 rule and ate dinner a little later. That helped too. Good luck Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App

Mint extract
cbonet replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I grow mint and it's get versatile. I have a Brita Water filter. I filter the water and put in another pitcher, throw in fresh mint, let it sit in fridge and enjoy. Add Stevie if u want. Also great with fresh brewed tea. I chop it and add to chopped cucumber and plain great yogurt as salad dressing, spread or dip. Its also good chopped and added to chicken salad. I use the extract in chocolate shakes too Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App -

I have learned, especially recently, that I don't have to defend my life choices to anyone. I also try not to join their ignorance by insulting them back. When someone criticizes anything about me, my opinions or my choices, I simply say "It works for me" , I end the discussion and I change the subject. I'm getting better the more I do it and it is amazing how negative people don't know how to handle the lack of emotional response. Best wishes to you.

Thank you everyone. I am considering therapy. I have been to OA many times-it wasn't for me. I will definitely pick up the book. Putting myself first is what I need to do and dont have much practice with. Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App

I am scheduled for sleeve in one month. I'm lifelong obese, was banded 7 years ago. I haven't told my family yet. They will not understand. They are cross fitters and health preachers. Although everything they do is not healthy. As many do, they deal with stress with alcohol, prescription meds, over exercising..... That is not a criticism. They don't understand emotional eating or food addiction. I also don't understand and often beat myself up for being so fat. I guess I'm asking if anyone else felt this way before having the sleeve and how you are dealing with it after the surgery. I want to be healthy, active and involved in life. /URL] Sent from my VS986 using the BariatricPal App
