That may be your doc's program, but not necessarily the OP's or anyone else's. Your program may call for liquids exclusively for two weeks, while others may do it for three or four weeks, or just one week or none at all - it depends upon the doc's experiences and sometimes individual patient needs and tolerances. For instance, my program was for purees and soft Proteins like eggs, yogurt, some seafoods along with liquids from the outset, with the caveat being that if something wasn't tolerated then back up a step to other foods that are tolerated and try again in a couple of weeks. Some wind up being more liquid intense than others for a while depending upon their individual needs. From what I have seen, more programs are heading this direction as more surgeons get more sleeve experience. This is what makes it difficult to give much specific advice to people on these forums beyond coordinating with their surgical team, who they (or their insurance) paid to provide such advice and support. To the OP, no it's not normal to have stomach pain while eating, tho some foods may cause some discomfort which is a warning sign to back off and take things a little slower. Try new things one at a time and in small quantity to test your tolerance for them, If they go through well then fine, add that to your menu; if not then try it again in a few weeks and go with something known for the moment. Yes, what u have written here makes sense. I can't imagine a life with no Beans lol. I'm just not ready to get rid of beans even if for a week. I'm Mexican and beans are my life lol. Jk. But I guess I have to prepare myself for the possibility that my stomach my not be able to tolerate them anymore. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to step away from the beans for about 3 days and see if that helps. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -

Thanks for the awesome advice babbs. Tonight I realized that I was taking really big bites and that's what was causing the pain. Tonight when I ate my refried Beans I just barley had some on the tip of the spoon and I would just lick the spoon. I feel much better now. Thanks yesica. I feel like it is normal. Also I get gas or air stuck and I can't take another bite till that comes up. Lol. I must say that I'm being so much more paranoid than I should be. I'm doing really well actually. Despite one bad slip up on day six but yes, I'm doing well. I just have to get used to all of the new things. Different bites even. How are u doing? Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App Well, my surgeon has me straight on solids aready. It's very interesting. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -

Yeah but I told my surgeon and he said if I wasn't having any issues after that then I was okay. I was fine. Now all of a sudden I have some slight pain and discomfort. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App But only when I eat. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -

Yes, I've been approved to eat things like mashed potato, refried Beans or mashed beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -
Had first fill, not feeling much restriction. Advice please
MTWilliams replied to loulou12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Give it time. I wasn't feeling full then I made the mistake of eating solids 6 days out and I can't believe I did that. Because now I'm two weeks out and just eating mashed Beans at 2oz a sitting is hard. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App I think maybe ur body and mind needs time to adjust Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App Nvm. That's so exciting for you. I also suffer from the same eating disorder. I'm also in therapy and I hope and pray to reach this point that you've reached. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App

I won't block you but I do mean what I said. That is exactly how you and that other girl made me feel and I know that you know that. Perhaps some of us are just kinder when we speak to those who are stuggling, I don't know. It was hard to pick up on your concern and easy to pick up on the ridicule. Anyway, thanks for the goodluck. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App Don't sweat it. Take it as a lesson learned and move on. Also, don't sweat the rudeness you will seen on this site. I do not know how long you have been on the site but you will learn very quickly that there are about 3-4 people who only comment of people's threads to create drama. I do not know what they are lacking in their personal life to want to do this, but it's sad. I feel sorry for them. I do not answer to them, I do not pay them no mind. You should do the same. Btw, pudding was allowed on my plan, a week out as well (sugar free of course). Sure this site is for honest feedback but there is a proper way to give it without the person feeling belittled or like a failure. The girl admitted that she knew she messed up so why continue to rub it in her face that she did? Does that make you feel like the cool kid on the play ground? Perhaps, she wanted to unload the guilt she was feeling and get it off her chest but was ashamed and didn't want to talk to anyone she knew. It's much easier to admit mistakes to a group of people that you don't know. Perhaps, like me, she had this WILD idea that people in an advice/support forum might actually be supportive. Smh. Also, who are y'all to question what her doc says she can have and who are you to question why she posted what she did? You are just a member of a group, in no greater capacity than any one of us. Catty people are the worst. It's the holiday season! don't be so miserable. Be jolly With that said, I too am a medical professional and I do think you should mention it to your surgeon for sure. If you feel fine and have no pain or vomiting then wait until your next visit, but do mention it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Gustavio, you're comment means the world to me. I really felt the support coming from you and that really helped me today. Yesturday I was in such a fragile mental state. After reading your comment this morning I felt so much better and really felt like I could learn from this mistake instead of just feeling shame and remorse. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App You know, I'm glad I could help. I too have been attacked on here by a small group that tend to feed off of each other's negativity. I was offended at first, but quickly found it funny that there was nothing better to do for them. Then just like with you, they tried to pass it off as caring "advice" lol please.....I wasn't born yesterday and don't need sarcastic or backhanded advice or concern. It's childish. Anyway, glad you are feeling better today. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's one day out of your journey. You got this!! Can't wait to see your results in the next few months. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes, I'm excited and so happy that I'm healthy. My recovery is going so well and I my family can already see my face slimming down. Thanks again friend! I'm so excited to share my results with you and the other members who have been genuinely supportive of me. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -

Wow, I'm going to print this out. I teared up while reading it because I want to feel those feelings of contentment and happiness. I am miserable now, it could be worse but again I'm only 2 weeks out so we shall see. I'm going to look at what you've written here on my hard days because it'll be on those days that I'll need to remember to pick myself back up and put one foot in front of the orher. Thank you-from the bottom of my heart for your words of wisdom and support. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -

I didn't read the whole thread before commenting, my bad. Good for you for being in therapy already, I think most of us would do much better post-op if we were seeing a mental health professional with training in eating disorders. Good luck to you Thank you. Counseling does help but I only get 1 appointment every 1-2 months. It's not enough. It's something but not enough. This is the reason I joined this online community. I really hope it doesn't. I know I'll be fine once I can eat full liquids. And stock up on the types of things you've mentioned. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App Im not going to beat u up, sounds like youve done enough of that yourself. But theyre all right, its not about you falling off the wagon. If you were 3 or 4 months out, i think those words wouldve been different. But, youre just fresh from surgery and we're really worried about your health. Im 8wks out and i know that im still healing. My stomach is still really sore so i cant imagine eating 1 wk from surgery. I dont have a appetite now, i have to make myself eat. 78lbs later, im really happy that i can find other things to do to keep my mind off of food and do other things. Keep us posted and if you need to talk, send me a friend request on fb, ill talk with you anytime. I just want us all to succeed. We all had a life changing surgery and just give it a chance to do what it should. Pamela taite-pressey Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Thank you for reaching out to me. There's a difference between a scolding and then a continuous battering. So yeah. Also, don't assume I don't take this process serious. We all have a food addiction and thats obvious or else we wouldn't be in the positions we're in. Some have it worse than others and for reasons only they can understand. I happen to be one of those people. Not one person is better than anyone else here and it's not okay to act as if u are because you've yet to screw up as I did. Everyone screws up and I pray for your sake and lipsticks' sake that when it happens to you, the people who hear you out will be kinder and more uplifting in your time of regret and need. I pray that for your sake theyll be less belittling and help lift you up instead of kick you while you're down. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -

Yes, you do seem confused. Yes I am grown, and I was looking for support not an uppity backlash. The pudding was okay-and listed on my week 1 dietary guidlines-nurse told me to stay preop till the 29th....could have been a mistake on her part. It was the other things that were not-the soilds. Those thing I ate alone without his knowledge. Anyway, yes thank you for your comments but no thank you. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App -

Yeah as soon as i started to feel nauseated I stopped drinking it. Juice is allowed starting right out of surgery. Everyone's dietary restrictions are so different and yea for some reason I can have as much 100% juice as I want but I found they they still have way too much sugar so I got the ones with 0 or very minimal sugar. Alrighty then! I am curious why you think prune juice is needed and how pooping is going to "clear" you. Well....1. My surgon recommended prune juice if I felt constipated which I do and 2. Luckily I have a very qualified PA for a husband and im guessing he's telling the truth when he says I'm not showing any signs of an obstruction. So like I said, im finw. If my symptoms change I'll let him know. Until then there's no need. Sent from my SM-G530T using the BariatricPal App
