Three days post-surgery, the journey so far
Sullie06 replied to Tufflaw's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for that tip. I've been wanting pizza badly lately so I might have to try this method. My local bariatric group has a pizza recipe that you use chicken as the crust but I'm not a fan. -
Pregnant after sleeve and tubal reversal
Sullie06 replied to lovelylady530's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't mind at all. It all started with a pregnancy loss at 10wks, after we healed from the loss we started trying for another and we could not conceive. We tried for over a year and then went to a consult for infertility. They did testing, said we had low motility and I wasn't ovulating regularly and we got the title of "Secondary Infertility". They suggested meds and IUI and everyone thought we would get pregnant quickly. Well, we did IUI, 9 rounds total. We did 6 with Clomid, took a break for a couple months and then did 3 months with injectable meds (Gonal-F and Lupron). They all failed but we got pregnant the month after our last IUI, my OB said it was likely due to the meds still as they were still in my system. Start to finish from when we started trying post miscarriage to my son's birth it was 3 years. I got pregnant again naturally when my son was 12 months and we lost the baby at 12wks. My daughter was a surprise, we conceived her naturally when my son was 16 months. I was shocked because we fully expected to have to do fertility treatments again due to the miscarriage and what happened last time. We also had a loss years ago but that was a very early chemical pregnancy and I was 19 at the time, much younger than I am now. My kids were born when I was 30 and 32 -
Two months post surgery today and I'm feeling outstanding. As of today I no longer have any dietary restrictions which is fun because I'm ready to start introducing some fresh veggies into my diet. I'm so ready for a salad. My surgical incisions are barely visible and I'm ready to keep working towards my goals. The first month was super hard, the second was easier, I'm excited for the future. Some stats: I was 301 at my heaviest when I started my program in July 2016. I was 271 morning of surgery (12/30/16) and I'm 242 as of this morning. I was a size 22 and a 2XL when starting. I'm now in a 16 and a XL.

I'm excited for lettuce so I can start eating "sandwiches" using a lettuce wrap method and for burgers too once summer finally comes back and we can grill again.
-
Yeah I'm not jumping in right away but I'm starting to introduce raw veggies, one at a time per my NUTS suggestion. I have missed Broccoli and Brussel Sprouts too. My husband is going to roast some sprouts this weekend so I'm excited for that. It's funny how the food I want now is all mostly healthy, fresh veggies and some fruits. I'm hoping to be able to have a small salad within a couple more months. I can eat about 4 ounces per sitting right now so it would be nice to have a couple bites with my protein.

Three days post-surgery, the journey so far
Sullie06 replied to Tufflaw's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was looking at that recipe last night when it popped up on my news feed and was wondering how it tasted. We don't have any cauliflower on hand but I might need to get some. Do you think if you cooked the "bread" a little longer it would have gotten crispier? -
I needed new pants for work. I was a size 22 starting this journey, I'm now in a comfortable 16.
-
I was in for 2 nights and 3 days as well, I changed into my own night gown on day two after they removed the IV. IT was easier to stay in the hospital gown prior to the IV coming out. I did however put my bra and panties on as soon as I was able to. I had a catheter for the first day or so but as soon as I was walking to the bathroom on my own my own clothing went on. Unfortunately, it's a lot of work to get into regular clothing with an IV and a Cath so you might have to stick it out in the gown until they get rid of those items. Also with the drain tube I didn't want anything tight on.

How do you manage changing clothing sizes?
Sullie06 replied to Phoinixe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had to replace my clothing for work but I just by a couple staple pieces at a time and rotate them. I've lost 4 sizes total, 3 since my surgery in December so I try and wear my clothing until it no longer fits and then I will get rid of the largest size and replace it with a few items in the newest size. For example: I'm now in a 16, I just got rid of my 22s as I cannot wear them any longer, bought a couple new pairs of pants in a 16 but am also still wearing my 20s and 18s as well. Shirts I haven't been worried about yet, its winter and frigid and nobody cares if my sweaters are 2 sizes to big. -
How much did you lose throughout entire pre op diet
Sullie06 replied to kturleyxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op was 4 days, modified liquid with a solid meal for dinner. I lost about 5 pounds from that but total I lost 30 pounds exactly in 5 months. -
8wks Post-Op today! SW 301 Day of surgery 271 CW 242 Size 22- Size 16
-
Yes I do. However, my nut said she would prefer if I didn't count my protein drinks into my fluid count, just anything else I drink. I drink 32 oz of protein drinks and then usually get around 22-36 in "other" fluids.

Protein recommendations!
Sullie06 replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! My hubby just found them at ours, we bought them all!! -
I drink the Atkins Lift Protein drinks and my NUT said that they are a good choice since I cannot stomach shakes. 20g of whey protein and 0 sugars.

Protein recommendations!
Sullie06 replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Lift Protein by Atkins, it's more of a water consistency and the taste is not bad. Lemon is my fave. -
My apologies, it's hard to read tone in messages sometimes and I wasn't sure if you were talking about my NUT or me. Misunderstanding on my part.
-
Im not sure if your talking to me, or about me but i was just answering based on my personal situation and what my NUT told me. For me, bread is not a trigger, so I do eat toast, rice and pasta I chose to stay away from. I know my body and my addiction so I'm able to manage that but dismissing my advice because it doesn't match up with what "many WLS patients" indentify with isn't fair either. We are all different and I was just giving the OP my personal advice.
-
I'm 6 1/2 weeks post op. I'm allowed pasta though I haven't had any yet and toast. I have toast about twice a week. My nut said starches are important and everything in moderation. 2 weeks until I'm cleared for full diet.
-
I'm a little over 6 weeks and still can't get my fluids anywhere near where they should be. My NUT want 64 oz minimum but I average 32-48

3 week stall is real
Sullie06 replied to sleevedviolet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I increased my protein and calorie intake at the advice of my NUT and that's really helped. -
When can I introduce string cheese
Sullie06 replied to Teajayteejay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a soft solids and am allowed to have all cheese. The Mini Babybel Light is my fave snack right now -
Protein intake, struggling
Sullie06 replied to vsgbeauty13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cannot do shakes, the texture and the flavor are awful and I've tried them all. I now drink Atkins Lift Protein drinks. They are thin, like a flavored Water and the taste isn't bad at all. Lemon is my fave. I discovered these about 4wks out. Im 6wks out, I drink two a day and get the rest from food (soft solid diet) I average 90-100 protein a day! -
I had a serious sweet tooth before surgery and had ice cream almost nightly! I've found that I don't crave sweets like I once did, I rarely am hungry after dinner to want a sweet and on rare occasions, I do treat myself. For example I went out with hubby last weekend and had a couple bites of his Lemon Bar. It satisfied me both physically and mentally!

I cannot stomach Protein shakes and it took me about 4 weeks and a ton of different brands to find what I like. Atkins makes a drink called Lift Protein, they are thin like a Water, come in 3 flavors and the taste is not bad at all. They have 20 g of protein, no fat and no sugar. They have been a life saver as my nut wants me to get in 90-100 grams a day at 6wks post op
