  1. Stalls are a natural part of this progress so I don't believe you are in a place where you have ended your weight loss, you just have to get your snacking in check and move forward. I agree with previous posters in regards to tracking your food. Everything that goes in my mouth goes into my Baritastic App, everything. Also find snacks that are protein based and when you feel like having a snack eat those. I do have nuts, cheese and beef jerky in my house so when I feel like having a snack I go that route. I do try and make better choices for my kids but some things are not worth the fight So I will give them the Goldfish Crackers and I'll have a string cheese.
  2. I was told 2 weeks by my team. The first concern is the narcotics of course but they also said for healing if I could avoid driving for a couple weeks to do that as well.
  3. I was 33 when I had my surgery but still had some issues with friends, my best friend in particular. After having surgery and starting to lose weight she pulled back from me. At this point I'm a year out of surgery and I haven't seen her since October and only spoken to her a handful of times since then. I don't know if it's a jealousy issue as she is still battling her weight or something else going on but I've realized I have to do what's best for me and my health and if others cant get on board then I don't have a place for them in my circle.

    Alcohol

My team said 6 months. I've had wine a few times and a couple of cocktails but I just don't really care to drink much. I was never a big drinker and now it just seems like a waste of calories so I will only have a drink at special occasions. I have found my tolerance to be the same but everyone is different so use caution.

    Gall bladder issues after sleeve

My doctor did not check my gallbladder prior to surgery as I had no issues with it at the time but he did warn me that post surgery is was a very large possibility that it would need to come out. My pain in intermittent for sure but I'm ready to just get it out and move on. I'm tired of having surgery at this point.

    Feeling frustrated

You are very likely losing inches at this time as your body reorganizes a bit. When I stalled I found that if I increased my protein, calories and water it would break, it was my bodies way of telling me it was time for more nutrition. Also if you are hitting the gym as much as you are you could be building muscle back and muscle weighs more than fat. Keep at it!

    Popcorn 🍿

I was allowed popcorn after 6 months. I have it on occasion and have no issues with it. I've never been a big popcorn person so I don't eat it very often but I avoid popcorn with lots of butter or toppings. A little air popped with sea salt is a nice snack on occasion though.
  8. I use Baritastic for my tracker and I find that it's pretty tailored to people who have had bariatric surgery. Also check with your program because they might offer support groups. Mine does 3 a month and I still try to attend at least once monthly. It really keeps me on track and I love chatting with people who are experiencing the same thing.

    Gall bladder issues after sleeve

My gallbladder started acting up at around 6-7 months post op. I had a scan and they found no gall stones but the pain persisted. They followed up by ordering me a Hida Scan and that determined my gallbladder was not functioning properly. I'm currently 13 months post op and scheduled to have my gallbladder out 2/16
  10. My NUT said no caffeine ever post surgery but when speaking to my doctor he said that was a little to restrictive and if I was getting my fluids in I could have caffeine in moderation after 6 months. He said the issue they worry about is dehydration but further out from surgery I should be okay and he doesn't agree with the NUTS standpoint on caffeine. I don't drink coffee but I love iced tea and drink about 32 oz of tea a day and 32-40 ounces of water as well. I now drink fresh brewed black tea with caffeine daily and have no issues and it helps give me a little boost I need in the morning.
  11. I would just advocate for yourself. Have they done an endoscopy to see where the blood is for sure coming from? If you don't feel like "Oh well it's okay" is the answer demand further testing. I don't believe this is a normal side effect.

You look amazing and your hubby is a cutie! So happy for you.

    Now i'm Terrified

I think it's normal to be concerned especially reading a story like that one but you don't know if there were other medical issues that came up that she might not have even known existed or were new. I think your best bet is to consult with all of your doctors, including your surgeon, hematologist and PCP, and discuss your concerns and risk. For me, diet and exercise just didn't work long term and constant yo-yo dieting and being obese is a huge health risk itself. I have family that lost over 100 pounds on their own and then gained it almost all back as soon as they stopped excessive exercise. I also have friend who can't maintain her weight loss if he doesn't run 7 miles or more a day so she bounces from a size 26 to a 14 and back. Some people need surgical intervention to maintain. Best of luck to you.

    It’s been a while

Congrats on the success from your surgery and on getting remarried to your husband. I just had my 1 year anniversary and it's amazing to look back and see how far we've come in a year.

    Holding Myself Accountable

We all have those moments of weakness but you have done the best thing by looking back and being accountable for your actions. The best thing we can do when we make a mistake is realize we did it and move forward with the knowledge of what triggered the behavior.

    Clarity on "Stats"

I include my pre-op loss as well because I lost 30 pounds in 6 months and I worked my butt off to do that. Plus that's my total weight-loss from the day I entered the program to now. HW: 301 (July 2016) SW: 271 (12/30/16) CW: 188 (1/5/18- I'm currently bouncing again between 189-186) GW: 175 then reassess. I'm 5'10"- Size 10/12 in pants. M/L in sweats because I wear them bigger and S/M in tops depending on brand and cut.

    You are fierce!

Love this! Congrats on your surgery and on this journey going forward. I finally feel like I'm living my life for the first time in a long time.

    You are fierce!

I highly recommend the products GNC offers in terms of protein. I had a lot of issues with shakes fresh out of surgery. They offer protein waters and teas that may be easier to stomach. Also their Lean25 shakes were a god send. They are thinner and better flavored than the Premier and still pack 25 grams of protein per shake. Also try adding unflavored protein products to your soup or any "foods" you eat. Also maybe make your own protein shakes and play around with ingredients that sit well with you. There are so many recipes online that you can chose from and once you find some that work go with it. Protein is so important especially early out.

    Fruit smoothies

I was not allowed actual fruits per my plan until 3 months. I was allowed baby food, stage one fruits during pureed but only in moderation. I would had the some baby food peaches to cottage cheese and puree that for example. I still rarely eat fruit now because I would rather get my carbs from veggies personally and fruit has so much sugar. I will occasionally eat an apple since they are actually good for your metabolism. As for shakes I had to try many different ones and change them frequently but I found the GNC Lean25 worked best for me and they have so many flavors.

    Maintenance calories

I'm at about 1000-1200 calories a day and I'm still slowly losing. I lose fast on lower calories but I feel sluggish if I'm below 1000 calories. I'm guessing right around 1300 will put me in maintenance.
  21. Sorry to hear that. I don't dump it just gives me uncomfortable intestinal cramps for quite a while after eating them .

When were you able to eat Cereals?

I eat cereal about once a week. I will either eat some sort of grain based cereals or homemade cream of wheat. I don't eat super low carb.

    I'm So Bad!!

You did it, you can't go back and change that but you can change the future moving forward. Eating like that is not going to be conducive to your long-term success and could be very damaging to your still healing stomach. There is a reason that our doctors give us a plan to follow early out. We have all been there, but it's up to you to make the best choices you can now while the surgery is fresh and you can really cash in on the benefits. There will be time for burritos in the future.

    10 days post op

You would have to really work to stretch your pouch, to the point of eating to beyond full pretty much constantly. At this point just focus on getting as close to those goals as possible because water and protein not only fuel weight loss but also they will help the overall healing process. I didn't count calories early out but my NUT wanted me up to about 600 a day by the time I was on soft solids and to get up to 1200 calories by 6 months so calories will come later but at this point just focus on water and protein.

    Carbs

I eat carbs, usually try and keep it between 50-100 grams a day, so as long as it's part of your plan I don't see why not. I use tortillas for a lot of things including pizza crust, quesadillas, turkey tacos and just plain old wraps.
