  1. I know it's completely normal and part of the process but stalls are so frustrating. I'm 16wks post op tomorrow and I have been gaining and losing the same pound for 11 days, I weigh myself every 3 days. Just needed to vent to people who understand. The last two weeks before the stall I lost 5 pounds a week so to see the scale halted I want to scream.
  2. I wore the hospital gown for the first 24 hours when I was hooked up to the IV, PCA pump and had a catheter. On the second day after they discontinued my IV pain meds, removed my IV and took the cath out I changed into my own jammies. I wore a night gown and had a pair of leggings for walking.

    Stall

I'm currently 4 months out and in the middle of a stall. It's been 11 days and I keep bouncing the same pound up and down the same pound. Stalls are frustrating, I have to keep reminding myself that it will pass I just have to stick with it. I find when I have a large loss, I usually end up in a stall. I lost 10 pounds in two weeks before the stall started.

    Popcorn.

My NUT said to wait until at least 8 weeks. I'm now 15 weeks and have had it maybe 3 times, the first time was around 10 weeks. I had no issues but since it's a slider I stay away from it.

    2 month PO diet?

My doctor said no alcohol for at least 6 months so I would not personally drink. Maybe they can make you a virgin version of your favorite drink that way you still get the taste and give off the illusion of having a drink if you are not sharing that you had surgery. As for food I was cleared for a regular diet at 8 weeks but was told to introduce foods slowly and also I was eating a very small amount still. About 3 ounces total. I'm now up to about 5 ounces total.

    Ice cream

I love Halo Top when I want a treat. Right now the Mint Chip is my favorite but there are so many flavors I still want to try. I don't eat a lot of it but every so often, especially when I'm on my cycle, I will want a little something. I'm also 4 months out.

    Missing food: so emotional

It will get better, I felt exactly as you did starting out. I thought I would never feel normal again. I worried my monthly dinners with my girlfriends would never be the same, date night with my hubby or birthday parties with my kids. But it does get better. I was sleeved 12/30 and at almost 4 months out eat a regular diet, in moderation. For Easter I had grilled kielbasa, brussel sprouts, apple sauce and a little homemade mac and cheese. I went with protein first and added a small taste of the other options.
  8. Exactly! You can admit that you ate the peeps and liked it! The problem I feel is when people try to "sneak" stuff past themselves. Like eating or taking bites of something but not accounting for it or letting that become a habit. Like you said, you got your protein in and that's what's important at your stage. I do not allow myself "treats" whatever it may be, if I don't have my protein in and I don't allow it on a regular basis if that makes sense but I try not to deny myself constantly.
  9. I had a mini Cadbury egg the other night, just one, it was delish. I'm 15wks post op and down 76lbs. I do allow myself a little treat from time to time but I also count it in my daily values and hold myself accountable. I think that's more important, accountability than never allowing yourself another treat again. We are all human.
  10. I also agree that your calories may be a little low. My NUT and Doctor wanted me right around 1000 calories a day by 3 months. I'm almost 4 months now and I bounce between 900-1000 calories, 90-100 grams of protein and around 60 g of carbs. My NUT said natural carbs are important to the body and she said to keep it below 65g a day. She is a bariatric nutritionist so I'm comfortable following her advice. I'm down 76 pounds and I'm 15 wks out.

    Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts

I LOVE brussel sprouts! It's one of my favorite foods. I introduced both Broccoli and Sprouts back into my diet around 10 weeks or so, I've had no problem tolerating either of them. I actually have not had any issues with any vegetables.

    Popcorn

I was told I could eat popcorn at 10 weeks.

    Sleeping on Stomach

It took me 3 weeks to be able to sleep on my stomach and about 4 to be able to do it comfortably. My back hurt so bad after surgery it was worse than the incision pain. As for pureed I did the ricotta bake, yogurt, pudding, lots of soups still, refried beans with a little low fat sour cream and salsa in the blender, tuna and egg salad.

    Carbonated drinks

My surgeon told me that I can have carbonated water, after 3 months. He said to try a little and see how it goes. If I'm comfortable drinking it, he has no issue with me drinking it. According to him there are no stretching issues caused by carbonation and if I tolerate the bubbles he sees no reason for me not to. I had a seltzer on vacation a couple weeks ago and I was more gassy but I did not experience any pain associated with it.

    Fried food. Stay away.

    I second the air fryer!
  16. I've been watching but I'm a few episodes behind. Whatever her motives may have been, I think there is also so much we are not seeing, TV creates alternate reality. My husband and I have noticed that in some scenes she even appears to be wearing prosthesis to make her look large so I'm pretty sure they went back and filmed scenes after she had already lost the weight. Having her do it to make her ex husband jealous is more interesting to the common viewer than for her to have the surgery for health benefits. Plus we already have a show based in that idea (My 600 pound life). I think it isn't our place to judge her based on what we see on TV alone, Reality TV is the farthest thing from Reality. I commend her for having the surgery and losing the weight. I hope this sets an example for her daughter who are all overweight except the oldest one who lives on her own. Hopefully they see their mother slimmer, happier and in better health and chose to make changes in their lives. Especially the youngest one, she is very large for her age and if she doesn't change now she will be heading down a slippery slope. As for the skin surgery, should she have waited, yes! But I also think she was at a point where a surgeon felt comfortable doing it and unless we were in the room with that doctor we can't really know much more than we are shown.
  17. Stalls happened and they are frustrating as hell but just keep doing what you need to do and you will break them. I stalled a lot early on. I stalled at 3 weeks for 10 days. I stalled right around 6 weeks and again around 8 when I went on a regular diet. Protein, Exercise and Fluids are the way to do it. I have noticed that once I hit 3 months I started losing more weight. My NUT says that happens sometimes, when the swelling is down and you can eat more sometimes the weight drops off faster. I've lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks after losing 1-2 pounds a week steady before that.

    Goal weight

My doctor had asked me the same thing and originally I had said 200 and he gave me a hard time. "Oh is that all?" I'm also 5'10" and I think that would be a good weight for me. However now that I'm down to 228 I think I'm shooting for 190

    Cereal...

I also eat the special K protein cereal when I'm feeling like I need a change from my usual Greek Yogurt. It fills me up pretty good usually, more so than my yogurt does but I did notice if it's soggier I can eat more.
  20. I was sleeved 12/30/16. I was in the hospital for 2 nights because that's what everyone in my program does. I was in a bit of pain post op, I had a PCA for pain meds but I feel like it was so quick acting it really didn't help much. I had pretty significant pain around my largest incision for about a week and it was tender for a good month. Any moving hurt pretty badly, especially rolling in bed and going from sitting to standing. I returned to work at 2 weeks and it took 3-4 weeks for me to be able to sleep comfortably again. As for the gym I was cleared for walking at 2 weeks and everything at 4 weeks.

    Goal weight

My doctor said he would like me to be around 170-175 by 2-3 years out. My personal goal for myself was around 190 and then go from there. I would love to be a comfortable size 10/12

So where are 30 somethings shopping?

Right now I'm a 14/16 and I'm shopping at Dress Barn for my work clothing mostly. For my casual wear I'm doing LulaRoe, American Eagle and Torrid.

    What's Your Favorite Store Now?

I'm still loosing but I'm down to a 14/16 and can finally find clothing in non-plus size store Right now I'm getting most of my clothing at Torrid, Dress Barn and Ross. I love being able to go beyond the one rack of plus sized clothing.
  24. I'm in love with American Eagle jeans now. I love the fit and they are not super stretchy which I hate. I also really like pants from the Dress Barn as well. I'm down to a 16 from a 22 at 3 months post op.
  25. I eat 3 meals and two snacks a day per my NUT. I also still supplement with a protein beverage. I'm getting on average around 100 g of protein a day so it's working for me!
