    Carbs

My NUT said to keep it around 45 during the losing phase (15 grams of carbs per meal is what she recommends) and then around 90 grams during maintenance (30 grams per meal), however she did say to not dwell on the numbers so much. We are eating such small amount that as long as I'm eating protein first I'm on track. I'm 4.5 months post op and have lose 52 pounds since surgery.

    Before and after pic

Amazing progress and your back piece is outstanding!
  3. Fitting in the chairs in the conference room at work that always squeezed the heck out of my thighs. Now I can sit in the chair and they arms barely touch my thighs. Also being able to cross my legs like a normal woman when I wear skirts/dresses instead of having to do the old fat girl ankle cross.
  4. I always try to order off the kids menu if a restaurant allows it. Also many restaurants have lighter fare or smaller portions, usually in the back of the menu. I've found eating out isn't as hard as I expected, I just have a ton of leftovers now.

    Calorie Question

I'm currently in my 4th month post-op and average about 900-1100 calories per day under the guidance of my NUT, she said to shoot for the higher end of that range at this point than the lower. I've lost 51 pounds since surgery (81 since I joined my program).
  6. If your speaking to me, I am not 12 weeks, I am 18 almost 19 weeks post-op and there are items already that I have noticed slide for me and popcorn is not one of them. I was just offering the OP my personal experience on this journey and at this point in time popcorn does not slide for me like some things do but like I said everyone is different and everyone has different trigger foods. Popcorn is not a trigger for me, I barely ate it pre-surgery as I had braces growing up and it was not an allowed food so I just never got into it. But for the OP it sounds like it would be a trigger for her.

    Top Chef

I've always loved cooking competition shows ( Hell's Kitchen, Master Chef, Chopped, Iron Chef, Holiday Baking Championship, Guys Grocery Games, etc) and I still love watching them now. They don't make me hungry to send me to the kitchen for a snack.

    Taking meds after surgery

I was crushing my pills for about 2 weeks post op and then my doctor cleared me to return to taking meds regularly by mouth. I haven't had any issue.
  9. I tried Popcorn for the first time at around 12 weeks. My NUT said it was okay to give it a try at that point. I've only had it maybe 4 times total. I pop my own on the stove or the Air Popper and just put a little sea salt on it instead of butter. That being said for me personally, popcorn is not a slider, I can't eat much at all before I get a full feeling but that's different for everyone. You know your body and what your cravings are so listen to your body. Also if you are doing super low carb (I am not per my plan) I would avoid the popcorn all together.
  10. Glad to hear it's getting better. I'm 4.5 months out and luckily have not had to vomit at all. I was nauseous right after from the anesthesia but I didn't throw up. I do get slimies from time to time but if I get up and move it usually helps it pass.

    Tired of sweet stuff help

I did the Atkins Lift Protein drinks and they were much easier to stomach than the shakes. I also drink a lot of Fairlife Milk.

    Carbs?

My nut said to limit them to about 15 grams of carbs per meal, so 45 per day at this point and by about a year out I should be getting 30 grams of carbs per meal, so 90 grams per day. She said as long as I keep it below 100 carbs and above 25 carbs I will be good. I've lost 81 pounds so it's working for me.
  13. I'm 5'10", my NUT told me she wants me between 90-100 grams of protein a day. I'm currently 17 weeks post op and have lost 51 pounds since surgery so it seems to be working well for me.

    Birth Control

I was not on any birth control (my tubes are tied) and my team did not ask or say I needed to be on anything. When they did my medication list they didn't mention anything that I wasn't taking a birth control and still tested me for pregnancy in the hospital so I don't know if they actually read my medical chart to see my tubes were tied.
  15. I'm 4 months out and my NUT said she wanted me above 1000 calories a day already, she said that continued low caloric intake is dangerous
  16. I traveled for a week to Florida at 11 weeks post op. I did pretty well, actually lost weight on vacation for the first time ever. The hardest part was the actual traveling because I had to plan ahead and make sure I made good options when eating out.

    Birth Control

I have not taken birth control since 2010. Prior I was always on the pill and it managed my periods perfectly. Between 2010 and 2015 I had 4 pregnancies, two ending in miscarriage and 2 full term and decided after struggling with infertility, multiple pregnancy loss and a scary pregnancy with my daughter to tie my tubes which was done in July of 2015. That being said since surgery my cycle has spiraled out of control, I will be going on Mirena with my next cycle as my OBGYN thinks it will manage my periods. I really hope this does because two weeks of heavy bleeding each month is not how I want to live.

    Dental Health after Sleeve Surgery

A girl I used to work with had bypass and all of her teeth decayed, she now has a full set of dentures. She blames the Gastric Bypass but I also wonder what her dental hygiene routine is as well. She's a little lacking in the general hygiene department.
  19. My cycles have always been hell but they have been a little stranger since surgery. After my daughter they were really heavy so I had a D&C in April last year, went into the program in July and they D&C seemed to help. My periods held steady, heavy and about 7 days long for about 8 months. Had my surgery 12/30/16 and since them the number of days has crept up until 12. I saw my OBGYN yesterday, she suggested the Mirena for me even though my tubes are tied. I'm going to give it a try because I cant live with two weeks on and two weeks off periods.

    Can't Stand Water

I've been living off of unsweetened ice tea mostly. I love black tea so I usually go with that as my choice. Also minute maid makes a 15 calorie lemonade and when I'm feeling a little crazy, ha ha, I will mix some of that in with my tea for an Arnold Palmer flavor.
  21. I got to a point where I could not stomach shakes anymore. I think it was a combination of the sickening flavor and the thickness. I ended up switching to Atkins Lean Protein water, it comes in 3 flavors and isn't bad. Gives 20 grams per bottle. I'm now 16 weeks out and my NUT wants me off of supplements if possible so I have been drinking Fairlife milk. I try and drink 16 ounces a day.

    why no soda??

My NUT told me that as long as it doesn't cause discomfort I can drink seltzer water.

    Stopped Losing

Stalls are common and frustrating but it will pass. I stalled at 3 wks, again around 6 wks and I'm currently in an almost 2 week stall at 16wks. Hoping it breaks soon.
  24. If you can get the eggs to work now, omelets are a big go to for me. I usually do one egg, cheese and turkey sausage or something along those lines and that gives a little extra protein. I also go a greek yogurt as a snack because that packs a big protein punch. I'm currently trying to phase out my protein supplements at the encouragement of my NUT. I'm 16wks out.
  25. I agree that roasting and grilling are my go to way to eat veggies. Roasted Brussel Sprouts are about one of the best things I've ever eaten. There are so many ways to dress them up a little. Sprinkle some parm cheese on them, use some balsamic, even roast them with dried cranberries. So good. During the summer we grill up a lot of veggies. Peppers are great grilled, so are mushrooms, asparagus, corn, broccoli, carrots.
