Ladies - How did you handle the shopping transition from plus size?
Sullie06 replied to Kat410's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For shirts I think it all depends on how and where you carry your weight and how you like the fit of your shirts. For me personally I carry my weight more in my hips, thighs and abdomen so for shirts I went down sizes quick. I started off wearing a 2X at 5'9" and 300lbs. I'm actually able to wear a small in some brands and a medium in all others now. I never thought I would get to a small none-the-less when I'm still wearing a 12/14 on bottom. I also don't have a large chest and I don't mind wearing my shirts on the tighter side because I feel like it hold everything in. -

Amazing and such a good outlook. Did you need plastic surgery? -
Cream soups to me were anything like Cream of Chicken, Cream of Mushroom (blended), Cream of Cheddar, Creamy Carrot, Broccoli Cheddar (strained) or Tomato. I ate a lot of Cream of Chicken on my full liquid and pureed diet.

How many calories do you eat per day?
Sullie06 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
10 months out and I usually get between 1000-1300 calories a day. -
I like the Atkins Shakes. I haven't had a flavor that I don't like yet.

I've lost 110 pounds total and I do not exercise everyday. My goal is usually to hit the gym 3-4 times a week but with two small children and a full time job, I'm lucky to make it 2 times a week. I do have some excess skin around my upper belly area, like where my muffin top is. I wear compression garments to help smooth out my silhouette

Anyone had gallbladder issues?
Sullie06 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good luck. I need mine out but I'm hoping to hold it off until February. I don't have stones per the ultrasound but my Hida Scan showed it was not working properly. -
What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
Sullie06 replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I drink both caffeine and carbonation. My go to beverage is unsweetened iced black tea. I drink one every morning. I will take sips with meals occasionally. I skip the gym if I just don't feel it that day. I use straws I snack between breakfast and lunch I drink wine on occassion On that note though many of these things are allowed per my plan so they are not cheating in my case but other plans might say different. -
Ladies - How did you handle the shopping transition from plus size?

I've had the best luck at Dress Barn for my work attire and American Eagle for my casual attire. Dress Barn is nice because they had both sizes so the transition from plus to straight was fairly easy. I can get the same pants I wore before just in a smaller size. American Eagle has the best jeans I've ever worn. They have so many cuts and rises you can really tailor them to your body. I've also had good luck at Boscov's and Sears, but unfortunately our Sears just closed. I loved their dress pants. I'm currently 192, 5'10" and in a size 12/14, though mostly 14. Also, I didn't realize at first there is a difference between a straight 14 and a 14W -
I'm 10 months out and 15 pounds from my goal. I'm currently 110 pounds down (80 from surgery). I'm a slower loser, I will lose for a couple weeks, then stall, then lose and this pattern has been going on for about 6 months now. My skin is okay, my arms are awful and my upper belly (muffin top) is really saggy but my legs have bounced back beautifully so I think it is many factors. I've noticed that my arms are starting to rebound more now that I pretty much have been stalled for a month.
-
Stalls happen, it could just be your body adjusting to the rapid weight loss you had directly out of surgery. It's hard to know for sure without knowing what exactly you are eating and how much. It also could be partially due to being dehydrated. When I had the stomach bug a month ago I lost 10 pounds in 1 day and it took a good month for me to fully rebound. I gained back and then relost the weight I lost from the lack of fluids while sick.

Full Fat Mayo, cottage cheese, and yogurt

I eat full fats. My NUT advised me to. -
Not buying new clothes till at goal.
Sullie06 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I couldn't do it. For one thing I have to look presentable for work but otherwise I didn't feel comfortable in huge clothing. I was constantly pulling up my pants, I felt frumpy and just genuinely uncomfortable. I've been buying essentials as I go down a size. 1-2 pairs of jeans, 2-3 pairs dress pants and a couple shirts. -
My phases were: Clear Liquids: 3 Days Full Liquids: 2 Weeks Pureed: 2-3 Weeks Soft Solids: 4 Weeks Solids: 10 weeks onward.

Pureed food ideas
Sullie06 replied to newlifebegins2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I liked pureed refried beans with melted cheese and salsa. You could add some protein powder for more protein. I also ate Ricotta Bake quite a bit as well as pureed tuna or chicken salad. -
Coffee question???
Sullie06 replied to graziellabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't drink coffee, I never have, but I do drink black tea and I've been drinking caffeinated since about 4 months post op with no issue. -
I was allowed to eat eggs once I got to the pureed stage. I had to start with runny scrambled eggs, but fully cooked, and could go onto more solid eggs once I hit soft solids. However, eggs no longer fit well with me anymore.
-
Atkins has a pretty good protein water/drink that I was able to tolerate much better than then shakes during the early stages.

Post Op Frustration
Sullie06 replied to Wyldflower's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try protein water. I drank the Atkins Lift personally and it was the only way I could get my protein in and it counts toward liquid count. I know there are a couple other brands that make a water as well and GNC has an iced tea protein drink. -
Add Meat to Famous Ricotta Bake? (Pureed Stage)
Sullie06 replied to Phobia42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed ground beef per my plan if it set well with me and it did. I made this twice with meat in my mushy/soft solid phase. One time I added ground beef and another time I added canned shredded chicken. -
Stalls are not only completely normal but part of the process. It will pass, just keep with it. Stalling around 3 weeks happens to many many people. It happened to me and I had the same feelings you all are feeling. I'm now 9 months out and 80 pounds down from surgery (110 total). I really like the Atkins products. They have a protein water, called Lift Protein that comes in 3 flavors and they aren't overly sweet. They also have the best shakes in my opinion. The strawberry tastes like strawberry milk. Early on I went with chicken salad, tuna fish, cheese and eggs to get much of my protein. It gets easier as you progress so you just have to try and get as much as you possibly can.

I pop my own. Then I can control what I'm putting on it or in it. I get kernels and either air pop it or use a little coconut oil and pop it on the stove.

Helpful, tasty products after surgery that you enjoyed or have found helpful.
Sullie06 replied to WaywardMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love the products Atkins makes. I could not stomach shakes for a couple months after surgery so I drink the Atkins Lift Protein drinks. They were not bad tasting and the texture didn't make me gag. Now that I'm further out shakes are in my diet again and I really like the Atkins ones and I think I tried them all! They have two different versions, 11 ounce ones with 15grams of protein and now they carry 16oz meal replacement shakes with a higher protein count (I believe 25 grams). I actually like all of the Atkins products. They are low carb, mostly low sugar and have really good flavors. They have treats/snacks, shakes and bars. -
Strained soups were considered full liquids for me which was technically phase 2. Clear (3 days), Full (1.5 weeks), Pureed(2-3 weeks), Soft Solids(4-5 weeks), Regular (8+ weeks on) is how my diet went.

Help! I think I'm stuck in maintenance but I'm still 55 pounds from goal-
Sullie06 replied to Finding Erika's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It sounds to me like you need more Calories. My NUT said at this point, almost 10 months post op, I should be averaging right around1200 calories a day.
