Having a sleeve in hospital is hard.

Can someone bring you some protein based snacks that don't require refrigeration, I'm thinking like beef jerky, nuts, protein chips, protein bars or shakes and they can wipe the packaging down with alcohol to prevent contamination before it goes in your room and then you can keep them in your room? I've never seen a hospital that doesn't allow a person to bring in food or snacks that isn't on a special diet. You might have to get firm with them that you need the added protein

I asked because it all looked pureed. They need to step up the food options in that kitchen because that looks awful. I'm sorry about the awful choices.

Eww, that spinach goo would be a no go. What diet are you on? Pureed?

    Advice needed

Do you have a local Bariatric program you could consult with? I know our bariatric program welcomes people who had surgery in other places but live locally to the plan. Maybe see if there is a support group you can attend and see if a NUT or local Surgeon can look at your medical records and suggest a plan for you to eat after surgery.

    Weight loss stall

Stalls happen. I just had a really slow month, bouncing up and down the same 2 pounds for weeks. It will break you just have to keep at it. I find that when I stall I usually have to increase my intake a bit. Slowly increase your calories until you start losing again and then stay there for awhile.
  7. I had to be referred to the program by my primary care doctor. It was actually my OBGYN who first referred me to the bariatric information seminar and then when I wanted to officially go into the program I saw my primary. She just asked if I really wanted to go the surgical route because I had a lower BMI but by then I knew this was the best route for me.

    Starbucks Egg bites

It's a small price to pay for the overall goal. I can live without eggs much better than I was living at 300 pounds. I miss them mostly because many breakfast items are carb heavy but I am figuring it out.
  9. 9 Months post op, 112 pounds down (82 from Surgery) and 14 pounds from my goal weight though I won't mind passing it. HW: 301 SW: 271 CW: 189

    Hair loss

I had the sleeve. My hair loss started around 3-4 months and is still going strong at 9 months post op. Every time I show it is scary, my hair is so thin now.

    Scared to eat

My NUT said that not eating is more detrimental to your health and over-all weight loss and wanted me to get back to getting my nutrition through food as quickly as possible. It's scary, the thought of gaining the weight back but stalls are normal and usually I have to increase my intake to break a stall. Take it day by day and make good/healthy choices.
  14. I know that the said lunch already passed but just wanted to add for people who might read this in the future that Meatball Parm is a good choice because it's protein based, it's easy to eat and it tastes great the next day .

    Solids

Soft solids started at 5 weeks for me. Regular diet advanced at 10 weeks post op.

    Knot at incision site

I had the same thing. I was told it was swollen scar tissue and it would go away. It did, my incision lines are all completely flat.

    Problems one year out

I'm currently having issues with my Gallbladder as well and it can make you feel awful. I'm maintaining mine with diet changes currently because I'm trying to wait until next year to have it out if possible but if I eat the wrong thing it's not pretty.

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

I also will eat Pasta, Bread and Pizza on occasion. Nothing on a regular basis but I look at this as a lifestyle change and coming from a large Italian family it's not practical that I will never eat pasta again in my life. I just make sure to hold myself accountable.

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

Ive had a diet coke on a couple occasions with no issues. I'm 10 months out but didn't allow myself to have any carbonation until at least 6 months post op. I personally have no interest to drink soda, I used to live on it but it just doesn't do anything for me anymore, but I do have one from time to time with no issues. If your going to do it stick to diet and listen to your body.
  20. I've heard some bad things about Gwynnies billing practices that turned me off. The reviews I read people had issues with canceling and actually getting them to stop charging your card and also people getting contacted by bill collectors months later with charges from them supposedly not returning the clothing. One girl actually still had the tracking on the returns 7 months later and Gwynnies customer service rep said "oops our mistake". I wonder if it's part of the racket. I have a friend who uses Stitch Fix and LOVES it, though the clothing is priced a bit high so if you don't want to spend a lot I would wait until you are maintaining to use these monthly box subscriptions. Platos Closet though is great and they are very picky about the clothing they take.

    Getting hungry!

I'm 10 months post op and I get hungry if I don't eat every few hours. My NUT said it's natural and many people eat 6 small meals a day or 3 meals and 3 small snacks between after bariatric surgery long term instead of 3 large meals. Also I've found that as a female I'm hungrier during my time of the month and TMI but due to my heavy periods my primary care doc said that I might need higher calories during that time.
  22. I started eating peanut butter in my pureed stage. There was a period of time that I got into eating it everyday for added protein but I've since stopped doing that since it was bumping my calories higher than I wanted. Now I have it as a treat from time to time or I use PB2.

    Carbonation!!!!!

I'm 10 months post op and I have no issues with carbonation. I was cleared for carbonation and alcohol after 6 months per my plan. I don't drink a lot of it but I do have a seltzer from time to time and when I was hit with the stomach flu back in August I lived on Diet Ginger Ale for 2 days per my surgeons suggestion because it was literally the only thing I could keep down, even water was not working. I have found that carbonation from a bottled or canned beverage does effect me differently than from a tap. It doesn't cause pain but I do burp a lot more.

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?

Truth! I was just pointing out that all plans are different, some stricter than others. I think from reading these forms my plan is a little looser than some so while it might seems I'm just going crazy off plan to some, I'm sticking pretty close to plan for me.
