    Calories per day

I'm currently hitting between 1100 and 1300 most days at 9.5 months out. I'm still losing and about 13 pounds from my goal. My nut wanted me above 1200 calories per day by 6 months post op so I try and hit that every day.

    Beans and cheese

Refried beans with a little cheese and salsa were one of my go to meals during my pureed stage along with egg salad (pureed with a little mayo and dill relish) and the famous Ricotta Bake.
  3. It was okay on my plan but every surgeon has a different plan. My week one diet was Full Liquids, I was only on clears in the hospital.
  4. Good luck to all of you. The beginning was the worst part. I would say it took a good month before I started to feel myself again physically and about 3 months before I really started to feel myself again mentally. Tips: Take small sips, adjust the temperature of liquids if you are having pain with fluids. I found that I could tolerate colder beverages better but some people tolerate warmed or room temp beverages. Take your time and take slow sips. And most importantly move! The gas can take a while to get rid of and moving really helps.

The Good The Bad & The Nasty

    I think it's 9 grams. The G looks like a 6 but I think it's 16 G protein, 9 G carbs and 8G of fat.
  6. I drink unsweetened black tea daily, usually about 32 ounces at least. I started drinking caffeinated tea again at about 6 months post op.
  7. If you are close enough with the bride/groom you can approach them to see if maybe you can have a special plate made, similar to if you have severe food allergies. Maybe they can do a soup or something similar.

    Sleeve too small

My surgeon told me that you cannot stretch the sleeve, that to stop the weight loss when I hit my goal to up my calories and carbs until I hit a place where I stop loosing but don't gain.
  9. I wore leggings and a tunic to and from the hospital. I also wore leggings for the first 2 weeks I was home before returning to work. As for the hospital I brought one of my own night gowns and wore that after I was taken off my IV on day 2. I was just more comfortable in my own clothing. I did the same thing after I had my kids as well, wore my own night gown.

The Good The Bad & The Nasty

Atkins products are my favorite by far. Now only are they low carb but they taste great. I drink their shakes daily and have their bars on hand for if I'm on the go. Also I like their snacks.

    Dumping sleevers

I've never experienced dumping with the sleeve personally and I've eaten things I probably shouldn't have at this point, however I'm over 9 months out and 13 pounds from goal, so I might not be much help. I'm wondering if the issue is that your to early out of surgery for your stomach to handle some things. I know your plan might call for it but you might not be able to "stomach" it. I've noticed that eggs I have to stay away from now because my body just can't handle it anymore. I don't have a heart issue but more of a digestion issue. Also it seems to be items with sugar/carbs or sugar supplements that are giving you an issue so you might just have to avoid simple carbs and sugars for awhile and try to slowly add them back in when you are closer to goal. Your stomach is still healing at 8 weeks post op so it might just be to early to process them right.

    Triple Digits, Baby!

Congrats!! Thank 100+ pounds lost feels great doesn't it and being in the "normal" BMI range, even better.

    NOT LOOSING WEIGHT

My weightloss was very slow the first month. There are a couple reasons why you might not be loosing weight. 1 they likely pumped you full of fluids in the hospital so you might still be retaining the fluid. 2, your body is trying to recover from major surgery so it's likely holding onto nutrients. 3, your not as active directly after surgery and that's normal. It will happen.

    Bacón!

I was not allowed bacon until I was on regular foods which was right around 10 weeks. I was not allowed pork bacon until after 6 months. I now eat it on occasion with no issues. I like to make breadless BLT's from time to time.
  15. I get rid of clothing as soon as I can't wear it anymore. I have no plans to go back up in sizes so I can't waste space in my closet saving clothing I will never wear again.

    NSV-Skinny Jeans

Thank you so much! It's really true. I look back at my old pictures and I'm like "how did I ever let myself get to that place?" How did I not see I was that big. It's funny how out mind plays tricks on us. For years it didn't allow me to see how big I was and now that I've lost 100+ pounds I look in the mirror and still see my old self. Everyday is a lesson!

    NSV-Skinny Jeans

OMG thank you for saying that. I'm having huge self esteem issues with my stomach because I have loose skin on my upper belly and it creates a muffin top depending on what I wear. I never view myself as having a flat tummy. That made my day!

    New clothes

I got rid of clothing as I moved down two sizes. So for example I got rid of my 22's when I got to an 18 and so on. I'm now a 12/14 depending on brand but I've been siting here for a couple months now.
  19. I was never once nasty either. You realize this isn't your original post right? That some people on here might be commenting to the person who posted the original thread!
  20. First of all don't call me dear, it's condescending. Also it sounds like you need to take your own advice and think before you type. You quoted me. I never said a word to you. I never attacked you or responded to your one of your posts at all. I made one response to the OP advising her to do her research and you quoted me. Said you did your research (don't care) and then told me who you voted for (again don't care) and asked me what I felt about that. And then told me to leave you alone when I never once spoke to you. Sounds like you need to get a hobby and find a more productive use of your time if your just going to come on here and fight people.

    Is this crazy?

I questioned myself leading up to surgery and in the weeks after. Now at 9 months post op this was the best decision I ever made. It's hard in the beginning and you will question yourself but as the time passes and you feel better the outlook becomes better.

    Protein

My program starts full liquids the first day home so that included 3 protein shakes a day, or at least that's what they wanted. It was hard to get 3 in and drink my fluids too.
  23. First off I was speaking to the OP in terms of her concerns with having surgery with Dr. Almanza. If you are comfortable with your reasons, good for you, however this is her post so I was answering her question. It's her choice, not mine or yours, who operates on her. She has a right to do her research and make an educated decision. I'm happy you are comfortable with your choice but there is not need to be a bully and respond to every poster who has a different opinion than you. I wasn't even speaking to you. If I were I would have quoted you! Also, excuse my language, but I really don't give a **** who you voted for or why. That has nothing to do with weight loss surgery or this post. It's just you trying to start problems. It's none of your business what my political stance is and completely irrelevant to this board and this conversation. For all you know I could be the biggest Trump supporter on the planet, or I could not be.... doesn't matter. Last I checked Trump doesn't perform weight loss surgery nor is he a surgeon.

    NSV-Skinny Jeans

It feels great doesn't it? I'm 9 months post op and I've gone from a snug 22 to a comfortable 12/14 depending on brand. It's so strange to me to go to straight size stores and be able to find stuff to buy. I've always been a jeans girl, even at my highest weight though moving into those 22 was hard as hell, I've never been comfortable in leggings but it was getting so hard to find a good pair of jeans and expensive too that I started wearing leggings last fall. My favorite Lane Bryant jeans set me back 80.00 a pair. These jeans cost me 11.00 at Sears and they are so comfortable.
  25. Just do your research and if you have even the slightest reservation find a different surgeon. This surgery can be very risky but if you have it done by a qualified surgeon and follow your post op plan you can have great results. I personally would not let Dr. Almanza operate on me just based on the negative stories but that's a decision you can only really make for yourself. I was lucky enough to have a local surgeon perform my surgery.
