Any ER nurses go back to work 2 weeks after Sleeve?
CaN8ive replied to onehappychick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I work in a busy ER also. My Dr told me I should be ok to go back at two weeks. I am planning on taking 3 weeks off as of right now. We are so so busy! I am worried about getting Fluid in not to mention lifting bending reaching grabbing stretching "half running" etc. want to know how everyone else has done at 3 weeks. I don't think 4 weeks will be an option- maybe. Maybe one week in triage??? Could u go back at 3 weeks? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Here my input an ablation does not always stop periods. It depends on how much of the uterus lining is left behind (ideally none), normally a little. This can cause bleeding after a year or so because the uterine tissue can grow back some. It is why doing ablations in your late 30s isn't a great option. Also u still need back up birth control with an ablation! Usually an iud ( if your uterus post ablation can support it )because if there is any lining in your uterus there is a slim chance an embryonic sac could attach to it and ta-da you are pregnant! A very high risk one at that. Because your uterus will be very unstable. However it does not mean u can't carry to term. So bottom line some ablations still have bleeding for multiple reasons and u still need birth control with the ablation regardless. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Kaiser - Approval - Required Courses

I am all done with classes! ???? And met with the surgeon and have my psych appt scheduled. So my surgery is going to be oct 11. I have only 10 lbs left to get to the goal weight but I can't have surgery until my psych appt which is sept 14. But for me I did my physical the morning before orientation, my lab work on the break during orientation and stated for a support meeting Everything came back good. The following week I met with the surgeon early on the same day I had my nutrition and lifestyle class. I still have two phone appointments - 1:nut follow up. 2: NP checking in on me. , and psych apt. Then I have to call dr when within 5 lb of goal to see if he will move up surgery date. That's where I'm at. -
My surgery is oct 11. Seems so far away. But I'm sure time will fly. Dr did throw out at the end "oh I am planning a vacation in October I'll let u know if it had to be moved". Oh ok. Grrrrr. What's meant to be will be Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So I am currently attending the nutrition and lifestyle classes at Kaiser- they are mandatory. They were each two hours long. We also had to do at least one support group that was a minimum of 1 hour. We also had orientation which was 3.5 hours. So u meet a few people exchange a few numbers and decide for yourself what other commitments you are making to support groups. They have lots of info of course. For me the classes are 2 hours away but I found another nurse from my hospital making the same drive as me. Really great. Then someone else. So four of us have made a little accountability group it's been great. Three of the four of us are nurses sitting thru nutrition classes also. But it helped when they showed us chewable high quality Vitamins. They did the work n research we benefited from. Just my opinion. My surgery will hopefully be Oct 11th Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I actually started at Kaiser Fremont and switched to Kaiser ssf because they are such a finely "oiled machine" with their process. Their Drs are outstanding. I was so impressed from the start. I will keep u all posted on my process as I move along. I should tell u I am also an ER nurse as well. Nor cal is beautiful MissKate! just saying. My meeting with the surgeon is 8/17 then nutrition and lifestyle classes immediately after. So I will let u all know how that goes. Exciting stuff. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I am Kaiser nor cal. It is very different here. I just had my orientation appt. my physical appt on the same day. Next week I have my nutrition class and lifestyle class. I also meet with my surgeon. I did my lab tests following my orientation class. They got my results called me and scheduled my psych appt for middle of sept. I am going to have surgery the end of sept beginning of October.
