Oh now I'm allowed to reply! Didnt realize I had to join the group and didnt know how! Feeling real smart right now. LowBMISleever YAY! You sound so upbeat in your posts, and why wouldn't you? That is INCREDIBLE weight loss in a month...I just sent you a message saying this same stuff before I realized how to reply here, but I mean...can you imagine dieting for a month and losing 18, 25 lbs? Holy moly. You look absolutely fantastic -- I hope you're proud and psyched. Nutty question about the sashimi: do you cut it into teeny pieces and chew a million times ? puree it so it's more like a tartare? chop it like ceviche? I'm not as far along as you -- about 11 pounds down total, 12 days post op -- and I have to tell myself "if you saw these were someone else's numbers you'd be so psyched; only regarding myself do I feel scared like I'm doing it wrong because I am not instantly 140 lbs. Long way of saying thank you for posting your healthy, VERY RAPID weight loss -- in some ways it's like looking in a mirror for me, you know? Like you, I feel SO THRILLED that I got my sleeve. Wish it had occurred to me to do it while my weight was creeping up and up and up but at least I did it when I did. I've been messaging with one "low BMI" (I put in quotes sometimes because we are all low for this kind of surgery but not "low" as in underweight) pre-sleever who is nervous and apprehensive...it's so hard to convey to someone before the fact what a wonderful and empowering feeling it is to have real, exercisable control over what we eat, and to see the effects of that on the scale and (soon for me!) in our clothes. GO LOWBMISLEEVER! You're doing so well and I love cheering you on in your journey!!

Did you sweat less after surgery?
hats123 replied to Nikkinee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OMG this is my dream!! I sweat so so so much -- far more than anyone I'm around and while I hope getting smaller will help to a degree, I didn't realize the surgery itself might have an effect! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Hi! I was 183 on dr office scale consult day, 176 on hospital scale surgery day (Aug 11), then on my home scale hovering around 180 the last few days and 177 today. I think surgery day was artificially low -- it was afternoon after a day of nothing at all, not even Water, and a day before that of Clear Liquids only. This Friday the 19th I will be weighed in the surgeons office for the first time post op, at 8 days, but I keep thinking/feeling that the two week weigh in next week will be the one I can really gauge for weight loss (as opposed to just water, or weirdness from surgery, etc). So we'll see! I'm very curious about this Friday and next week! Good luck, NewAdventure! You're getting close! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I'd love to know this too! At 5'5", around 180 pre op (weighed in at 176 on surgery day but really that was mostly the no Water since the night before!) I'm 5 days post op and eager to hear other people's info!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How to access password protected sub boards?
hats123 posted a topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Hi, Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it. I wanted to go to the under 200 starting board and wasn't able to; it prompted me to enter a password. Anyone know how to do this? Much appreciated! Thank you! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Hi- Well those first couple days were hard. I was very very sore. It was hard to get up, hard to lie down, just ouch. But yesterday (sat; surgery was Thursday) I could tell I was starting to feel better, and today I walked two long city blocks. On Friday I could barely get into the car to leave the hospital. So far my only nausea was immediate post op and from the post op IV painkillers. Knock wood - I haven't had trouble getting the Water down (I've poured it out into little one-ounce medicine cups so I know how much I'm taking. And I started back on thin Protein Shakes today. So far it's ok and I don't regret it (yet?) but those were a couple of hard hard days. I'm looking forward to the pain ending and the weight loss really starting! New here! Pre and post without Aspartame?
hats123 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, this is my first post. I am doing pre-op now, having surgery 8/11 (slight possibility 8/18, will know today). I am self-pay so it's moving quickly; my BMI is 31 so insurance won't cover. I apologize if this post fits better somewhere else. It's a big forum! I have a lot of questions but right now am most concerned about one: I get terrible headaches from aspartame/nutrasweet. I do fine with other artificial sweeteners including sucralose. Do any experienced liquid diet folk have recommendations for products without aspartame? I'm particularly concerned about the Clear liquids phase. I'm asking the nutritionist also, of course, but figured there's no better crowd to ask than this one! Really happy to have this resource. I'm nervous but excited about the surgery. -
New here! Pre and post without Aspartame?
hats123 replied to hats123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just popping in, a few days post-op, to thank you all for the recommendations. I love that lemonade flavor nectar, and I have samples of many flavors of Bariatric Advantage, fusion, and others. In case anyone new stumbles on this thread: on Amazon I found little bottles of "stur" Water Enhancer...sort of a less powerful crystal light in several fruit flavors, all sweetened with Stevia, not sucralose or aspartame. And GNC sells a store-brand shake mix called something like "lean Protein meal" (that isn't exactly it, but close) that comes in a few different types -- regular (sucralose); vegan (don't know how that's sweetened) and "natural", which is sweetened with stevia. They're not bad at all! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone with a low BMI (30-33) had sleeve surgery or will be?
hats123 replied to SD123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi again. everyone! These forums are so big that it's hard to know exactly which threads to post in. Please redirect me if I'm in the wrong place. I had my surgery on Thursday, 8/11, and came home the next day. Friday and Saturday were hard because I was so, so sore, like I had done 10,000 sit-ups. I'm still really sore, but it started to get better yesterday and is noticeably better today. Today is day 3 or 4 depending on whether you count surgery day. So far the only nausea was immediately post-op, and from the pain reliever drip they gave me in the hospital. But Zofran has been a great solution to that. I definitely feel like I'm crossing over from the hideously horrible phase and would say I'm officially on the mend. I lost a few pounds on the pre op diet, but I don't know where that stands since my home scale is being fickle, and bc I had so much IV Fluid in the hospital. Today I get to start the shakes again -- can't believe how much I am looking forward to that! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Hi- I've "met" a couple of you this past week around the forums. I'm 5'5" and weigh 181-183; my BMI is between 30 and 31. I'm getting sleeved (does that term remind anyone else of that great corny joke: where does the general keep his armies? In his sleevies!) tomorrow, 8/11. I would really love, eventually, to get back to 120ish, where I was for years, but I know that's unlikely. I just want to feel more comfortable, happier in my body, to enjoy CLOTHES again, and to have a sense of hope and control about my body. I'm dreading the immediate post-op period but am so inspired by your stories and happy to be able to follow along with so many of you! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Anyone with a low BMI (30-33) had sleeve surgery or will be?
hats123 replied to SD123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm very new to this site. My BMI is 30-31 and I'm having the sleeve surgery tomorrow. (Yikes, tomorrow!) I too hope not to be on the giving or receiving end of nastiness...everyone has his or her own story and history and reasons for making this decision. The only questions I can answer so far are pre-op, obviously, but just wanted to let you know there are people around where you are who decide this is the path to take. Good luck to you in the process and your weight loss and management journey! Feel free to message me too. EDITED: I blame the Clear liquids for my less than clear head. Sorry, SD, I mis-read and saw youve already decided and are scheduling. Good luck to both you and frozengrapes! -
Anyone looking at an August surgery date?
hats123 replied to GoingRogue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm new to these forums and new to the process. Scheduled for this coming Thursday (I just typed "surgday" -- you can see my mind is on the surgery!), August 11. Day 2 of pre-op protein liquids and I already miss food. Would love to join a support thread! -
New here! Pre and post without Aspartame?
hats123 replied to hats123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I just found a Protein powder sweetened with stevia and was so happy...now to try it! And of course who knows if I will like it post-op. This is all super helpful. Im scheduled for 6 days from now (8/11) and getting really nervous!! Edited to add: I got a bunch of nonfat powdered milk today so thanks, too, for that rec! -

hats123 replied to hats123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I ordered a sampler of Bariatric Advantage flavors and I'll take your advice and order the other brands too. I've also heard that tastes can change after surgery so it'll be two rounds of taste-testing I suppose! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you both so much! That's great to know about make-your-own-Jello and puddings, as the sugar free Jello packets I've seen all have aspartame (migraines for me too!); the Jello puddings I've been able to find without aspartame. I'll start trolling recipes and diet ocean spray. Do you ladies have a preferred source (Amazon, etc) for ordering the various brands of Meal Replacement? Thank you again! Congrats on your success Christinamo and good luck to you theantichick!!
