    October Surgery

Feel your pain, so lets vent together! I was sleeved 17th Oct, and the first couple days were awesome but its been a steep downhill from there mood, fatigue, and food-wise. My mood swings are pretty crazy, and Im so lethargic its tough to get up most days. My sense of smell has multiplied exponentially, and I gag at almost every little smell, meaning I am def. not getting in enough food or drink bc I cant be near food. Every diet stage has been tough. Uff!! Had a chat with my nutritionist, and she sounded a bit....judgmental...saying that I should just get more Protein and liquids in, that I wasn't following diet etc. Easier said than done, dearest, especially if you're nauseous at the mere sight of food! Its a tough place to be in especially considering this is supposed to be a positive thing. Seriously, I can't even drink from my own glasses or cups anymore, so I am trying new bottled liquids daily. Sigh.... Husband says it will get easier as time goes by. Heres hoping! I'm sorry you both are having trouble, and it sounds like your nutritionist isn't listening to you, seattlemom. I was given anti-nausea medication when I left the hospital and didn't have to use it. I wonder if something like that would help. Tiredofmyself, I know this is a tough place that you're in, but I say congratulations on the 30 pounds. If you have many different sizes in your closet like I do, that's certainly enough to notice a size or two change. Perhaps that might lift your spirits? Me, I just have trouble getting moving. I am purposely not working right now so that I can get into a routine with exercise....but the cold and rain (you get me on this, seattlemom???) make me want to stay inside and curl up with my cats and watch tv. I suck!!! I do hope you both are doing better soon!!! Jami

    October Surgery

I had mine on the 12th, and today is the first day I've felt decent. I still have pain at the larger sites. I was sent home with one drain in because the fluid hadn't drained to expectations. That finally came out after a week this past Weds. Each day I've gotten better, but in no way am I one of those who bounced right back and was exercising immediately. I have one more week of liquids.....and while not entirely bored with broth and shakes, I find I do not like the pre-mixed shakes at all. I hope you have a speedy recovery and have the time to take to do so (I'm not working right now on purpose, just because of this very reason)!!

    October Surgery

I'm scheduled for 10/12. I'm working on losing some weight between now and the end of September when I'll start the two week pre-op diet. I need to work on cutting out sodas and not drinking while eating. Not to mention trying out Protein shakes to see which ones I will like. I don't think I'm the pre-mixed shake type, but it might just have to do. Oh and I also need to start moving more.....I guess the only thing I've accomplished in the 4 days since I started working on eating less is not drinking alcohol. I guess that's something!! I'm a huge procrastinator, so I know I have to be better at this....
  4. Hi, I've just started out too. Insurance doesn't pay so things can move a little quicker. I saw the PA a week and a half ago, had my endoscopy consult and first nutritionist visits last week. Endoscopy is next Friday, psych consult on the 15th and sleep apnea consult on the 24th. 2nd nutritionist 8/26. I go on a cruise from 9/17 to 9/25, then roll right into pre-op with the dr and final nutritionist appt on 9/26, start the two week pre op diet and have surgery on 10/12. Whew that's a lot!! My sister had her sleeve done last year and went to her one year check in today. 75 lbs down and couldn't be happier. I never thought I'd join her, but I've given up the hope that I'll have enough motivation to lose it all on my own again. I'm attempting a high Protein 1500 calorie diet to drop some weight before surgery--not a requirement but I look at it as though I have a better chance of getting most of the weight off if I do this now. I'm worried about failing.... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
