Serious life question about hiccups.
cassandramarie93 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Literally every time I eat I get the hiccups after. I chew slowly and do my best to take my time yet no matter what eating brings out a bout of hiccups. Not really concerning but annoying, any one else experience this or have any idea what causes this after surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Reward for meeting weight loss goal

For me personally I feel the best way to go about this is being honest. There is nothing to be ashamed about. You chose to put your health first and that's something to be proud of. If anything it's an interesting conversation starter as well. Usually people aren't familiar with the ins and outs of this surgery and it's exciting to be in a position to break the stigma behind WLS. Don't overthink it! The whole point of a date is to get familiar with someone and to enjoy their company. If it comes up then good! If it doesn't and you decide to go out again eventually it will. The surgery is just a small piece of what makes you the person that you are. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

3 weeks post-Op ... before and after
cassandramarie93 replied to pharmD_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wtf is the matter with you people? As stated before if you have nothing nice to say then keep your mouth shut. Y'all need to go back to elementary school so you can brush up on the basics. There is a decent way to ASK if you have questions about someone's progress. Just jumping up in here and straight onto someone's back and TELLING them you know what's up is unwarranted and uncalled for. On another note how about everyone just focuses on their own journey instead of badgering someone about theirs. Ridiculous. To the OP I wish you success and all the happiness in the world. I'm really into the power of the mind and I followed a program that is called the easy way to quit smoking by Allen Carr I listened to it everyday and sometimes played it when I was going to sleep through the night. I feel that helped me long term because it changed my mind on the way I viewed my habit. New insight is an incredible tool. I was a pack and a half a day smoker for 7 years and have been quit since August 1st. I have no desire to go back. I hope your so proud of yourself it's not an easy decision to make and to stick to. Motivation
cassandramarie93 replied to cassandramarie93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ BigViffer I suppose I'm more just doing it to do it at this point I will walk around my favorite lake and I tend to enjoy that much more then getting on the treadmill or stationary bike. As far as goals go I met a couple that I set recently. Big picture wise I guess the dream was to be fit but maybe I'm looking too far off to have that be a fire under my ass. I will have to put my thinking cap on- I like that idea. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
It seemed shortly after my surgery I had all the energy in the world to exercise and push myself well as of late (approximately 2 weeks) I literally have no drive or motivation to work out. I just transitioned into a new job doing something I've always wanted to do. I've been eating according to my plan. Aside from rouge man troubles I'm so happy. I am really proud of all the things I've accomplished lately. It just feels like I have no energy at this point. I am getting a bit down on myself for not being more on top of my work out regimen. I feel so burnt out. Advice? How do I bring myself back to where i was at the beginning of this journey? Am I being too hard on myself or am I slacking off? Motivation
cassandramarie93 replied to cassandramarie93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was November 7th I came bursting through the gates like a crazy person right off the bat. I was shocked at how much energy I had in the beginning. I feel like I'm having a delayed reaction. I'm hard pressed to believe it's a Vitamin deficiency, I have been taking an absurd amount of different supplements through out the days. I'm unsure about Iron however I'll have to check my multi-vitamin bottle to see if I've been getting any in at all. I'm getting approximately 84 ounces of Water through the day and about 50 grams of Protein. I am thinking about trying to up my calories but I still gotta get through the mental blocks about going over a certain amount. I'm going to get my blood tests because it would be good to know for sure if it's a physical problem or if it's in my head. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm going to say yes. I was taking my medication with Vitamins and your supposed to take it on an empty stomach because it doesn't absorb completely with other things but when I started taking it separately i started losing an extra 2 pounds a week (so far) but I feel like it definitely kicked my metabolism into gear Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I get a lot of this stigma from my co-workers coming back after my surgery. These folks told me once a day I was taking the easy way out. Long story short one day I marched into the back and lost it for a second letting this particular person know exactly why I chose this- I gave myself a tool to ensure my success. As well as what I personally had to change about my lifestyle and explained I do everything someone who took the "hard way" does. I simply have a something to keep me on the right path. I have no shame in that. Generally when people struggle they need a hand up and the proper education to ensure their success. I haven't been ashamed in the least in the choice I've made and let people know around me what I was doing for accountability purposes and I started to regret it shortly after- once I quit brushing it off and I started getting real with people who think they know what my journey consists of I felt liberated and like maybe I had a chance to shed some light on something that I believe the majority of people don't know about. Any Post Op MARIJUANA Users?
cassandramarie93 replied to VivVsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told in my class you needed to be off of it a month prior to surgery. I just quit before that because I'm a paranoid s.o.b. lol I was terrified of hurting my chances at getting my surgery so I quit before they told me that just to be safe. In the long run being uncomfortable physically was a better choice for me then spending those months tripping on the possibility of sabotaging myself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Regrets after surgery?
cassandramarie93 replied to ecoreen94's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there, girl. It'll get better. There is no sense in consuming yourself in something you can't change now. Take care of your body and the rest will follow. I'm sending healing energy your way! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Once a week. My obsessive personality doesn't need more fuel. First thing in the morning log it and move on I try not to consume myself with my weight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any Post Op MARIJUANA Users?
cassandramarie93 replied to VivVsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit smoking it like 2 months before my surgery and took it back up about 3 weeks post op. I too am a medical marijuana user and I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing but my tolerance is so ridiculously low now that it doesn't take much for me to find my moon boots these days lol. I'm not thinking that has anything to do with surgery but the break I took. Also I've noticed where as before I really loved sativa I generally go for an indica strain now. I've got into the habit of drinking fluids instead of indulging in the munchies that can follow. Other than that life is basically back to normal just making informed decisions about what I'm eating and eating a lot less. A good rule of thumb when going into anything after having this surgery is listen to your body- know when enough is enough when eating, smoking, etc. You're going to be alright.
