I've been drinking one every morning for Breakfast because I realized I was only consuming 20 grams -tops (my surgery date is next month). I decided to do this to get more Protein and form a habit. I've turned into quite the mixologist. My go-to fave so far is: 6-8 oz of warm Water (mixes better) A single packet of decaf instant coffee 1 scoop of choc Protein powder 1/3 frozen banana Teaspoon of cocoa powder Teaspoon of melty coconut oil Blend.. and yum. I actually do this 15 min. before I want it or the night before and place it in the fridge to chill. I like the foam to go down first. Tonight it tasted like hot chocolate almost. Cold is good too though. Anyone else have any good ones? I know our tastes are all different but I need variety. Eventually I'll get sick of this one. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Does anyone keep Water by their bed at night and drink if/when they wake up during the night? I wake up often, so I was thinking why not drink during the night too(?) Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

What? No FMLA? Then back up your surgery date. Gotta stay within the boundaries. That or use any vacation time you've accumulated. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

That's illegal! You cannot terminate for that reason. Yup, I work in HR. File your FMLA papers, your health comes first. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

TMI POST- Constipation

Miralax daily for 4/5 days should do it. It gently softens things up. Laxatives will make it worse. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Has anyone developed allergies post-op?
Hretan01 replied to JohnGraySmiley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got bumps on my neck, chest, and arms from my last surgery. They don't know why, kinda think it was a one dose antibiotic they gave me by IV in the OR. I had hives, small red bumps. It looked rashy, so I called the dr. And he had me take Benedryl for a couple weeks. I'd go get it checked though! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

How long were most of you in the hospital for? I've read some people have just one over night stay, some have had 4 days in.. What can I expect? I'm only taking 2 weeks off work, that better be enough Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Protein farts are always atomic. Veggie farts are not -- probably can't have those however! Better keep a toilet in reach (and perhaps some spare pants and baby wipes) Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I know why... I've had 7 major surgeries in my 45 years. Soon to be 8. Even if your mind is tired, you have to be physically tired or you can't sleep. I've had this same chat with my doctor. For you, I'm willing to bet it is the same thing --due to a lack of physical exercise or activity due to surgery. Get out and do more. Walk, shop, go to a park, just get out and do more and you will sleep like a baby. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

One week post-op. Why do I feel so BITCHY?!
Hretan01 replied to BarefootDrummer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a full hysterectomy at age 35, (I'm 45 now) so I still have to take HRT meds (estrogen). After the hysterectomy procedure, I noticed I'm calm, more patient and have no food cravings. Doesn't matter if I eat a can of green Beans for dinner - whatever. I'm purposely nice. I hope I stay that way. And yes, sometimes I'm cussing in my thoughts lol! However, I have noticed a change in a coworker who had a gastric bypass. Talk about bitchy! She was never like that prior. It's been 3 years for her, and she's still bitchy. I think we all should pay special attention to our behaviors after surgery, much like we do with food. Ain't no reason to be a bitch lol! I got work right next to her every day Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Well I can't find it. There are a lot of recipes out there I would mix 2-3 drops of the tea tree, castor oil and the Vitamin E along with a couple of TB spoons of coconut oil (warmed up). You can either take a cotton ball and apply it to the scalp then massage in and pull through the ends with a wide comb, or mix a bigger amt. and use a spray bottle to apply in the same manner (1-2 times a week). Shampoos and conditioners contain a lot of Water. They clean, but don't do much for nourishment. hair grows at 1/2" per month on average. It's going to take a few months before you notice it's thicker at the scalp. There are no miracle products out there. If there was, George Costaza wouldn't be bald, LOL!! I have been a hairdresser for 23 years, and I have been through this in the past when I lost 50 pounds in 3 months time. If you have long hair, a few strands can look like lot!! Also, we naturally lose around 50 strands a day. I would suggest you definitely take either Biotin or a skin, hair and nails Vitamin. There is also a recipe where you can mix vitamin E oil, castor oil and tea tree oil together and rub it on the scalp. You can probably find that if you do your research. I'll look for it later tonight though. Your hair will grow back, trust me, it will! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Food items that I am scared of..
Hretan01 replied to Lema's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is low fat cheese, and how much could you possibly eat right? I know a lady who had a gastric bypass and she keeps a jar of Peanut Butter under the seat of her car just in case she forgets to eat or feels weird.. Then she's got something. Making your own Soup is easy and probably better, but then we end up with this big pot of it. But some Soups freeze well. Dairy, bread and potatoes I'd be scared of too!
