And after the bypass?
suesmithwhippet replied to Angelica Marti's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Angelica - the bypass is absolutely forever - certainly your pouch can get bigger over time. Part of the WLS journey is learning new and better eating habits. If you have any WLS and continue eating high carb/high fat/high sugar foods, what's the point of having surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Food and Drink Suggestions

When I was at the "mushy" stage, I had well blended tuna, canned chicken, turkey meatloaf. All moistened with a little lite mayo. I added unflavored Protein powder to all to make sure I got my protein in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Ensure Protein Shakes
suesmithwhippet replied to sgaddarich's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would contact your surgeon/clinic to be sure. It is important to not only look at the protein/calorie count, but the amount of sugars. If it is less than 5, you are probably good. Have you tried the PREMIER Protein shakes? They are 160 calories, 1 sugar, and 30 grams of protein. What is your immediate post op diet plan? Are you only drinking Protein Shakes? What about other fluids like Water, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
All surgeons protocols are different. Mine is, only animal based Proteins (no dairy based, cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt) no veggies, no grains, until we have lost 75% of the excess weight we need to lose. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'd contact your surgeon to get it checked out. I had one like that that was an abscess starting and am now on daily wound care and packing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm dealing with an infection now. Visiting nurse, daily wound packing. Trying to find a tape that won't rip up my skin any more. My surgeon says this sometimes happens. I didn't want to be a "sometimes" Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
