Surgery tomorrow and a question...
RNMomof4 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just realized all these flavored waters I bought are carbonated Water. Do you think they will be ok to drink after surgery if I open them and let them go flat? Hate to waste them but I'm sure the kids will drink them if I can't. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Yes they are zero calorie, just flavored carbonated Water. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Telling my (skinny) SIL and (very skinny) MIL were literally the last things I had on my to do list before surgery on 10/25. I finally broke down and sent them an email 2 days ago and it went better than expected. I would love to have kept everything secret but just not possible with 4 kids and living on the same dead end road as my ILs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Returning to work 1 week after surgery?
RNMomof4 replied to sleevette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know with my job the lifting restriction is the real problem. I am planning to take 4 weeks but would like to go back after 2 if possible. It is easier for me though bc I am a lowly prn employee Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Removing the clear surgical tape over the incisions?
RNMomof4 replied to MickiinFL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From my pre-op class they told us that they use dermabond (glue) on the small incisions and one small stitch that is under the skin and dissolvable on the larger one. Of course it is all surgeon's preference. Steri strips would be like little pieces of tape that would hold an incision together that has stitches under the skin. (That is how many ob docs close c section incisions). No stitches to actually remove. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Removing the clear surgical tape over the incisions?
RNMomof4 replied to MickiinFL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you're describing sounds like steri strips and they can do a real number on your skin. The best is to wait until they are basically falling off before helping them along. If you can't wait that long then in the shower is probably easiest. I had a terrible reaction to them once on my knee so have asked no to have them used during my surgery. I haven't had surgery yet but take OTC Unisom occasionally if I have a couple nights that I don't sleep well. It definitely helps with the staying asleep. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

One month done supervised diet
RNMomof4 replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did all of mine with the PCP as well and totally agree...huge waste of time. I couldn't lose more than 15 pounds or I would go below 40 BMI. I ended up losing around 12 but the visits got to be really painful, especially since I had to drive an hour each way to get there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

6 mo visits- should I stay on phentermine?
RNMomof4 replied to GigiLane's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I used it sparingly off and on and just had my last 6 month appt yesterday. I didn't want my BMI to go below 40 plus I couldn't sleep when taking it so I only took it on days I thought I may eat more than usual. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hey there...L&D nurse here! I am finishing up my 6 months of supervised visits and hope to have approval and a date soon. I plan to take 6 weeks off since I have a 25 lb weight lifting restriction. As far as staying hydrated I will just leave my contraband drink at the desk and hope for the best
