    Sleeping

I am a total side sleeper and was sleeping that way the night after surgery. Sent from my iPhone
  2. Homemade chicken broth in the crockpot was a lifesaver to me! Go to Allrecipes.com and search for it. Super easy and it tastes like real food! Sent from my iPhone
  3. Ditto what Dub said and I don't see why you couldn't ride horses after 2 weeks. I would think that would be about the same for sleeve or band. Sent from my iPhone

    Bandage

Stitches don't fall off...they will either dissolve or need to be removed. If you can see the actual threads they need to be removed but if you can't see anything they will dissolve on their own. Sent from my iPhone

    Vacation after surgery?

I will be 3.5 weeks post op when we head to Disney on Thursday. I'm not worried...will pack some Protein shakes and foods for myself but in general I feel great and am really looking forward to the trip. I plan to stick to my diet wherever possible and if I can't find something then have a Protein shake instead. Sent from my iPhone

    6 months diet with dr

Yes you can lose weight but I was careful during the 6 months not to lose too much and drop my bmi below 40. Sent from my iPhone

    Scare and Confused

I felt so much worse on the pre-op diet than I have in the almost 3 weeks post op! If you can make it through pre-op you can make it through anything Sent from my iPhone

    Sleep Apnea & Anasthesia

I don't have sleep apnea but I'm a nurse and have seen plenty of people under anesthesia for surgery. During surgery you will have a breathing tube that keeps your airway open and makes sure you are getting plenty of oxygen. The sleep apnea and needing your cpap will come more into play during recovery when the breathing tube is out. They will likely ask you to bring your own mask (probably not machine) so that you can use it during this time and when you are sleeping like normal. Hope that helps! Sent from my iPhone

    Is this a normal fear?

I have had zero issues with recovery (3 weeks tomorrow) and feel great! Glad you do too! I even asked the surgeon at my 2 week check up if he made everyone's stomach the same size because I felt like he had made mine different somehow Sent from my iPhone

    Normal hospital stay?

I had my surgery at 8am and spent the night but feel like I could have easily gone home the same day. Sent from my iPhone

    Advice needed!

You should go and have a great time with your 30 lb weight loss! I would probably just claim a mild stomach issue. Can always offer to be the DD! Sent from my iPhone

    OJ

Depends on what your plan says...mine said Clear liquids or Protein shakes for 2 weeks. OJ has calories plus is acidic so don't think I would. Sent from my iPhone

    Gastric bypass

Make sure you are walking at least 30 min per day and that should help if it is gas. Congratulations Sent from my iPhone
  18. If you want a longer term birth control the Mirena IUD is a great choice. Light to no periods, don't have to think about it. Sent from my iPhone

How long will this process take?

First consult was in January, then had to do 6 months supervised visits and surgery was 10/25. Almost a full year but the time is helpful to get yourself mentally ready. Sent from my iPhone

    Care after surgery

My doc told me at my 2 week check up I can lift up to 20 pounds now. I have no trouble doing that...have a dog that needs lifting up and down steps around 20 lbs. Sent from my iPhone

    Exhausted!

Good to know coffee was ok! I'm scared of dehydration. I get almost 800 cals/day. Is that too much? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Very true. A walk usually helps me feel better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I don't count it in my water/liquids for the day. Sent from my iPhone
  22. I'd love a broth recipe!!!! I'm so sick of what I have. I dressed it up a bit tonight with a tiny bit of garlic and lemon pepper. but i'd prefer to make my own! Super easy...2 ish pounds of chicken on the bone. Add an onion, carrots, celery, seasoning to taste. I used a large slow cooker and filled it with water and cooked on low all day. De bone chicken and can freeze for future use. Strain the broth. Can skim fat off after refrigerating but honestly there is very little fat. I added a little salt and pepper after cooking to taste. To me this tasted like real food and I always like warm liquids better than cold anyway. Sent from my iPhone
  23. Two weeks out and my incisions (5) look great. I'd probably rather have a few more and make sure the surgeon can use all their tools. I don't see how it could be done with one incision especially since you need at least one instrument in each hand?? The scars are minimal...don't worry about them too much Sent from my iPhone
  24. Good suggestions already. Try drinking a warm broth instead of just Water. I made an easy chicken broth in the slow cooker that was a life saver. Sent from my iPhone

    Exhausted!

Feel your pain. I felt exactly the same last week (two weeks out yesterday). I added back my one regular cup of coffee per day and I think it helped me. I started to feel more normal. Also I tried to make sure to be hitting at least 500-600 cal/day and 60 G Protein plus Water. I feel better this week. Hope you will too. Sent from my iPhone
