Hey Lulu, glad to hear you came through the surgery well - though like others I'm sad to see how little after care you're getting. I'm happy to help if there is anything I can do! I was allowed juice when I came home from the hospital but was told to have it mixed with half water. The high sugar content can play havoc with your digestion - especially at the beginning. Have a good flight home, I'm sure you'll feel loads better when you're back in your own bed. PS - if you can get a pillow or a jumper or something to hold on your tummy with a bit of pressure during the flight it will help in case you have any sudden turbulence. Jo x

What I wish I had known...

Its good to know that the watching doesn't go on forever! Having said that, for the people who I haven't told (non have said anything yet but Im only 5 weeks out) if they ask I'll just say I'm on high Protein, low carb diet and that I'm counting calories. It's the truth! Sort of Jo x -
I had this too, and mine was about four inches to the side of my real belly button so it looked really weird. Luckily it did pop after about three weeks post surgery and now it's flat (well, I can't really call my belly flat, but you know what I mean) just like my other scars. I did ask the nurse after it happened and she said it was fine, that my internal stitches were dissolvable so it must have dissolved and so the skin flattened out again. Hope yours does too! Jo x

This is a great post, and in particular this bit REALLY rings true for me. When I'm with friends I can see them studying me to see if they can notice any differences (I'm only 5 weeks out) and woah, some people have very strong opinions on my surgery that are unwarranted and unwelcome. It's not all bad though, mostly people are just curious in a friendly way and I think they genuinely think they are helping when they offer to bring me a big mac to see what it's like in the blender. So yeah, I would absolutely echo that thought - be careful who you tell. Jo x -
I had a lot of pain there, it was pulling as if the skin and attached muscle had been stitched to something inside me that only lined up when I was lying down. When I stood or sat it was really uncomfortable. It got so bad after the first week that I rang the nurse and she told me that some people get the pain and some don't, sometimes the surgeons hit a nerve and that causes the pain to be worst for some people. And that it would go away. She was right! It progressively got better and by about week three I wasn't in any pain at all. So hang in there, it will get better Jo x

Why is this (UK Section) so quiet?

Thanks Jintycb, I am so glad that I found this forum! Its great to talk to people, who understand what I am going through. It's weird isn't it, but I never expected my RL friends to try to (kindly) sabotage this as much as they do. But anyway I'm happy, the scales seem to be moving again and I'm down 1.5kg since yesterday. More of that please! Jo x -

Best of luck Lulu, I hope it all goes smoothly I noticed earlier on this thread you were asking about Vitamins - I got these at my local Lloyds Pharmacy and they are great. Just like gummy sweets, really easy to take. Jo x

It could be the mashed potato that is filling you up? I was told to stay away from starchy carbs like potato as we won't get much benefit from them - perhaps try something like scrambled eggs with shredded ham in instead? Jo x

Thanks RosieCheeks, it's nice to come here and get some perspective! Jo x -
Good advice! I'm probably not drinking as much as I should. I'm not a great fan of water but I know it's necessary - gonna persevere! Jo x

Hi Lulu I've scanned some pages of the foods/stages booklet my NHS nurse gave to me when I had the surgery last month. Hope it helps you! (and I hope it works, this is the first time I've added an attachment in this forum). Jo x

Hi everyone, I'm bumping this post as I'm new to the forum and I'm in the UK. There doesn't seem to be many of us here but at least now there is one more I was sleeved in late June in London, on the NHS. I've been in a stall for the last week and a half and it's so frustrating! I feel like I'm not going to lose any more weight even though I know that's ridiculous. Just can't wait to start losing again. Jo x -
Hi guys. I'm new to this forum and had my sleeve done on the 28th June so I figured this post was a good place to start! I was in sooooo much pain for the first few weeks after the surgery but it's pretty much all gone now. I moved through the liquids, pureed etc stages a bit faster than I was told to and now I can eat just about anything. I'm trying to limit my meals to about 200 calories, and I've not felt full at all since the surgery. I don't want to push the boundaries but I kind of feel like my new pouch can hold more than I expected. Are you all counting your calories? I'm doing between about 700-1000 each day and I've been in a stall for almost 2 weeks. It's so frustrating! Jo x
